What controller are you using on PC?

More recently, I had a Retrobit Sega Saturn joypad, which worked perfectly for all my retro videogames on OpenEmu (sadly, Mac isn't anywhere as good a platform for retro games as PC, but who wants to deal with Windows anymore if they can avoid it?), at least until the d-pad broke. I understand that's a common problem with that controller. I would hope that problem has been fixed, because that's such a great joypad to use.
That was a known issue they appear to have fixed in my experience.

I did have to pester them for replacement parts for literal years after they had said they'd send me some and then never did but after I tried again in some random social media they actually sent me replacement controllers and they haven't had problems in years when my first one broke within a week of barely any use which was when I first contacted them about it. But I did cave and buy the Hori Fighting Commander before they finally sent me that and that's ace too for 6 face buttons (and like I said has 4 shoulder buttons so you can use it more conveniently for other systems too not just Saturn). But with their replacement gamepads being fine I'm considering their dual analog Saturn controller to be my next one now my Dual Shock 4 is showing its age so I can have dual analog and 6 face buttons for any kind of game all in one rather than use multiple controllers. But I'll probably go for something more standard with analog triggers (I wish their Saturn pad had those) like the next Steam Controller instead and use the Saturn pad and/or Hori FC for emulation/retro/2D stuff since they're bound to last for years after I have to get a new dual analog controller.

We'll see, depends on what's out and how I feel when I need to buy one again.

As for Mac retrostuff, invest in figuring out RetroArch since it's available for most every OS/system and has a good core for almost everything (only in some cases do I find a stand alone emu better enough to be worth having separately, like Dolphin). It's not that bad or hard, just not very standard so needs some time for a first set up but then every system you wanna emulate will be the same process you'll already know, where to put the bios files, how to add games to the list, controls, etc., it's worth doing.

8BitDo Ultimate 2. I got it like a year ago and it's replaced my Xbox Series controller that I haven't touched since. Works pretty much the same, except it has extra buttons to configure with Steam, and a dock to keep it charged. Got it off sale cheaper than the Xbox controller, too. Very satisfied with it. I've also previously used DS4 but found it annoying to connect and deal with xbox/ps4 button mismatches. Also tried the og Steam Controller, but it's been sitting in the shelf ever since, never felt comfortable with it.

Got my old ps4 controller that shows signs of being used up but still works fine, i got cheap knockoff of xbox controller too, and 2nd brand new ps4 controller on top when first finally retires after those 12+ years

Most of the time Xbox Series X, love the size and comfort, it's perfect for my hands. I also use DualSense sometimes esp. for Sony games or a few other where I am more comfortable with parallel sticks rather than the offset Xbox has.

I use a 8bitdo Ultimate 2 BT with my TV PC via the 2.4G dongle. It's also paired with my Switch 2 via BT so I can use the same controller for both, I also have a 8bitdo Pro 2 for D-pad games. My desk PC is a Xbox Elite 2.

8bitdo ultimate. This one does the business and was relatively cheap. Suprised there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of other controller manufacturers copying the 8bitdo dock option. Charges the controller as well as acting as the wireless accees point assuming you have the dongle in there. Great bit of kit

I've been using 2 xbox elite series 2 for several years. Got a white one and a black one each with a charging case and the swappable back buttons.
I have the wireless dongle that connects to the back of the PC.
The black one is the oldest one and it has a sticky shoulder button, I think a piece of plastic on the inside of the shoulder button broke off and rattles inside.
Also the black controller has a greasy gooey texture on the handles. I should probably throw the controller away, but keep the case if I ever get another controller.

The white series elite 2 has a much better texture and works just fine. I use it almost exclusively.

I recently bought an 8bitdo ultimate 2. I really like it but it's just a tiny bit too small in my hands. Does 8bitdo make a regular size?

I have tired to connect the PS5 controller to the PC using bluetooth. Some games work with it. many don't, and those that do don't have all the PS5 features. :(

I'm using the Gamesir G7 Pro and it's all good so far but I haven't really used it much yet.

Been gaming for about 45 years and this is actually the very first third party controller I've ever used or bought.

Have the Gamesir G7 Pro aswell and I love it. Never had a third party controllers aswell but I greatly prefer this to the Xbox Series controller that was my main for pc gaming.

Xbox Series controller for most games, Dual Shock 4 for anything that requires Gyro, and Blue tooth Trident style N64 controller with rumble for Nintendo 64 recomps and emulation.
