What drink do you usually order at a bar?

You whiskey guys are crazy. My friends got some old fashioned the other day (that's whiskey right?) and it was strong as shit. I didn't even want to smell it.

A Dark and Stormy with a twist of lime, assuming they have ginger beer. Otherwise I get an extra-dry gin martini with olives. Long Islands are good, but I prefer them heavy on gin and without the sour mix.

White russian or rum and coke, maybe a hefeweizen depending on what they have on tap. Like a lot of sour mash varieties but I generally only drink those at home.

It has whiskey or brandy in it....try a good whiskey neat and it can be amazing.

Scotch and ginger, or Vodka and soda w/ a lime are my two go-to's

Generally I'm a microbrew drinker though (with the occasional Tequila shot for good measure). IPA's and Stouts tend to be a high percentage of said beers.

You don't really know much about American beers, do you?

The whole "American beer is watered down piss" gets blown to shit by the huge number of quality craft breweries across the country.

Except I live in America and drink a lot of beer. There are not alot of cheap draft high alcohol craft beers in bars. Guy I replied to ordered a cheap draft beer. I doubt it was a high gravity Trippel.

The vast majority of American beer is weak piss. Get used to it.

Long Island or double shot of captain and coke. I generally go to bars with the intent of getting pretty drunk though.

Uh, no it isn't. You really have no idea what you're talking about.

This is completely false.

Sam Adams (various)
Sweet Water 420

Merlot
Malbec

During 007 week - Vodka Martini, shaken... not stirred.

Eh... there is plenty of quality craft brew beer available throughout the country.

But the standards you have seem a bit ridiculous. Cheap, but craft and high alcohol? I'm sure if you look hard enough you can find some, but those standards don't seem realistic.

Edit: Speaking of Bond, I have been making and ordering Vesper Martini's lately. They're pretty good. And this from someone who despised all things gin previously.

First thing I order when I walk into a bar is usually a shot of whiskey and a whiskey coke (I always get a laugh from the bartender). After that its usually just whiskey or tequila shots and beer.

Drink of a boss. Worth ordering just to see the reaction of the bartender.
About 5 or 6 years ago when scrubs was really popular guys would always order appletinis from me due to the show. The first couple of times I gave em a funny look but after a while the novelty would wear off and I didn't really care. Guys would be disappointed at my lack of surprise from then on.

Guinness
Sapporo
Hard Cider

...and the occasional Blueberry Martini. My friends/family still give me funny looks when I order it.

In Minnesota: Grain Belt Nordeast (beer)
In Wisconsin: New Glarus Spotted Cow (beer)

And every beer is accompanied by a shot Tequila, Whiskey or SoCo typically.

If I'm not in a beer mood, it's Crown Royal and Coke.

I used to drink Southern Comfort and lemonade exclusively in the 80s and one year of the 90s. Of course it was the UK, so "lemonade" was technically 7up or sprite.
I certainly think Sprite/7 Up does wonders to the taste.

Do you no longer drink it in the States?
