Doesn't every new Pokemon game release with new mascots? Or are the cover pokemons not considered mascots.
As far as im concerned, once MGS4 released on PS3 Nathan Drake then became the face of the system.
This isn't true though?
They are joking (I think). Neogaf jokes.
Have to question how famous the squids from Splatoon really are if no one seems to be aware they're actually called inklings.
Yooka! Laylee! Yooka fuckin Laylee! Yooka... Lay-lee~
Let's wait for the game to come out first :v.
Nathan Drake's the only interesting designed character on current gen.
I can understand one liking Nathan Drake but, the only interesting designed character?Nathan Drake's the only interesting designed character on current gen.
I updated my post and then saw you said this! You're right. But we don't have a ton of mascot characters to work with and at least it has buzz along with Persona. But you ain't wrong... I'm excitable.
To my knowledge, Yokai Watch isn't that big outside of Japan.

They are even shown on Nintendo corporate slides right next to Mario.
The fact that the Inklings weren't added to Smash 4 as DLC was nothing short of baffling (unless technical issues held them back). Oh well, here's to Smash 5.![]()
They've been pushing her hard but she's likeable.
whaaaaaa?
There has been plenty of good design, you silly man.

Nathan is literally just a guyNathan Drake's the only interesting designed character on current gen.
You seemed to be confused hereI still can't come up with a single designed character that's half as well written.
First post etc.Steve from Minecraft maybe? Or the Squidlings from Splatoon - I'm sure they're going to endure for several years.

I mean, reductive but, everyone is just literally a guy or a gal, eh.
No? We may have different standards.
not the squid kids! eh?
this thread is about mascots
Mascot =/= iconI think it's important to ask when considering a mascot...
"Can someone who hasn't played the game recognize the character?"
If Yes
"Do you have to be a videogame enthusiast to recognize the character?"
In the case of Knack, there may be a handful of people who didn't play the game and recognize the terrible character but only because they watched the Sony E3 press conference where Knack was one of the central reveals along with the PS4.
In the case of the soda guy from Sunset Overdrive, I doubt anybody would be able to pinpoint that unless you've played Sunset or Rocket League (where it's an addon).
Squid Kids might be it, although I'm not sure if they fulfill the second criteria. I've never played Splatoon, don't have a Wii U, but I know who the squid kids are and you don't have to be a videogame enthusiast to have seen art or drawings of them, because they took off immediately with the fan art/fan drawing communities.
If Minecraft had a central mascot then I'd go with that. Maybe just the 3D, 16-bit block is the minecraft mascot, or the ghoul or whatever those skeletons are. Most adults that I know who haven't played minecraft are very familiar with it because their kids or their kids friends are really into it. But the game lacks a central mascot, as far as I can tell.

Good answer. Maybe not a huuuuge mascot but easily a very recognisable face in the Anime community.Monokuma seems like a good recent mascot character.
