Damn that game is hard....
Huh, I had little problem beating it.
Personally, I would pick the original Prey. I'm stuck in a place, where I simply don't know where to go, and it's too scary. Started playing it like 8 years ago...
I've tried this game a few times and never got very far... the camera makes it hard to maneuver fast and I always get lost lmfao...For me, it's beating his little gem right here:

I have a pretty large fear of underwater levels in videogames. So I'm not sure what exactly made me pick this up when it came out - I think it was just how amazing the game looked, and it was, and still is I think, a unique take on the 3rd person platform/adventure genre.
I got maybe 2/3rd of the way through the game I think, two different times, into sections where you were waaaay underground in tunnels or something and you had to rely on finding little areas that released air bubbles. It was stressing me the fuck out, and I stopped playing. I picked it up several years later for the PS2, and did the exact same thing. I've always wanted to finish this game, but just can't bring myself to do it. Lately I've been thinking about giving it another go with an emulator.
So Gaf, what's that level you were never able to get through, that achievement you were never able to unlock, that game that made you it's bitch?

Sheesh, such a good game though. I was only able to beat it with two of the ship-types. I kickstarted it and am proud that I did.FTL...

But that's the point, and that's what makes FTL such a good roguelite. You aren't supposed to be unstoppable at the end of a true roguelike. You're supposed to make it all the way to the Chaos Gate and get killed in 3 turns. You're supposed to trip down the stairs and get crushed by your own loot-sack. A true roguelike is comically unfair. You're supposed to barely eke out a victory.Yes! I was really into this for a while but the last boss just didn't seem fair in the slightest, I could never get past it, and eventually you get tired of doing the whole fucking run again.
Oh shit yeah this just brought back memories of watching my friend try to beat the damn space pig at the end or whatever he was called, I remember it being absolutely ridiculous. I never beat that myself.

Schrödinger's cat both play DF and can vouch for what I'm talking about.
FTL demands that you master its mechanics in order to beat the boss. Reaching the boss is a challenge, yes, but it's certainly doable without a lot of investment. That's partly because the mechanics are simple and slick.
But the boss? The boss expects you to have finely-tuned your ship and taken every advantage possible along the way. And even this is no guarantee you will win. I remember having hefty shields plus shield-piercing status weapons was a huge advantage. If I'm remembering correctly (I haven't played it in years), a reliable way to kill the last boss was to kill the crew by any means. There are still automated weapons on the boss (which is where the hefty shields come in) but... yeah. I'll leave it at that because I don't want to spoil things. Figuring out the strategy is part of the fun.
FTL's boss is epic and was expertly designed. I stick by that opinion.
Time to try again on switch lol

Its such HARD!!! LIKE THE HELL!!
the only one game that i cant never beat in my life
Xenogears. I loved that game, but it is super freaking hard. I am still stuck on the prison escape area today. I had no idea that I should have been leveling my gear up to that point.
The only way I could get past that fucking court level was to sprint around meleeing enemies. Took me hours. Ironic given it's a shooter. For me, it is completing Wolfenstein II on the hardest difficulty. The game... was poorly designed. Its levels (especially that idiotic court room level), enemies, and enemy placements, alongside the inability to skip cutscenes (and since if you die, you have to start from the very beginning), just doesn't make a fun challenge. The game is frustrating and lacks any and all fairness. You have to rely on glitches and luck to complete the game.
I had played every Wolfenstein on the hardest difficulty while having fun, especially The New Order. Sadly, this game just falls flat on its face and it is the one damn achievement that I cannot get for the 100% completion.
Contra Shattered Soldier on PS2, awesome game, awesome soundtrack, last boss has multiple variations and might be literally impossible lol, maybe I'll check some YouTube vids and hop back into it
110%... man, if I remember, you have to do like 3 bosses in a row at the end.Ninja gaiden 2 playing on any difficulty above 'easy'
And people thought dark souls was hard...
You do, and one of the bosses would 1-hit you while you need to hit it like 50-80 times. ON EASY.110%... man, if I remember, you have to do like 3 bosses in a row at the end.
For YEARS I didn't know that if I let go the acceleration button during turbos I would get a stronger one, that made ALL the difference. As a kid some cousin of mine could get to beat wizpig without knowing it after trying a thousand times LOL.
