What realistically can Nintendo offer at this E3?

Realistically..

Mario Kart 8 DLC ( a new cup )

A new 3rd party title funded by Nintendo seems likely thanks to a rumour.

Maybe Pokemon Z for the 3DS, something Pokemon related or Wii U.

A HD remake (maybe Mario Sunshine..maybe Galaxy).

NFC game (maybe a couple). A Nintendogs NFC game wouldn't surprise me.

Animal Crossing Wii U.

Its quite hard to guess really....I'm not expecting too many announcements of internally made software. More collaborations seems the most likely thing to surprise us (if indeed there are any).

The 2DS is such an ugly piece of shit. Maybe they will unveil a redesign with a clamshell at E3.

The whole point of the 2DS was to build a unit that could eventually be profitable at $99. Going back to clamshell would add cost.

Of course, it doesn't matter one way or the other, because the 2DS had no impact on sales.

Certainly:
New Zelda for Wii U
Hyrule Warriors
Smash Bros
Bayonetta 2
Yarn Yoshi
Sonic Boom
X

Probably:
Pokken
SMT x FE
Miyamoto's New Game
Majora's Mask 3D (if not announced beforehand)
1-2 surprises we don't know about

Hopefully:

Metroid
F-Zero
Star Fox

A hardcore game that actually shows off the true potential of the Wii u pad. It's the one advantage it has over all other platforms, and it looks like not even Nintendo knows how to properly use it. It could be the killer app that the console desperately needs.

They absolutely must have a stage show this year. I was pro-Direct for last year's E3, but they really fucked it up. I will not forgive them for ruining the Megaman Smash reveal for me by making it a slide show. Would have been the most hype moment of the year for me if it had worked.

More footage of Smash, X, and Hyrule Warriors with release months

Actual footage of Yarn Yoshi and maybe SMTxFE

Zelda U and NFC game reveals

And some cool 3DS games

Short of miraculously reigniting 3rd party support, I'm not sure there is much of anything they can do. Even if they are saving some big surprises for E3, any new titles they could possibly announce are likely very far off at this point. Their dev teams are spread way too thin to support the Wii U with enough software that would make it any more inviting to people who haven't gotten on board.

An actual presentation and not a Nintendo direct would be a good start

Literally the only reason to do a press conference instead of a Nintendo Direct... would be to stop the press spreading FUD about them not doing a press conference.

All press conferences give is cringeworthy acted moments between presenters..and live demo's which mess up due to all the interference..or don't mess up because they are faked.

Zelda U, SSB, Bayonetta 2, X and one new IP for the casual crowd.
This is honestly what I expect, and as long as Zelda U drops jaws and a fun new IP is announced (the general reaction to Zelda Musou was very positive), that seems like a win for Nintendo, because that's the best they can manage at this point. I don't expect them to kill Sony/Microsoft's presentations, because both of those companies have been holding back and prepping for E3 for awhile. It's just like OP said, I want the perception around E3 to be "hey, Nintendo showed up and finally did their thing!"

- New Zelda. For Wii U. 2015
- Mario Sports Mix 2 for 2015
- Yarn Yoshi is not yarn anymore and 2015.
- DS games for Wii U in June, starting with NSMB, Mario 64 and Zelda Phantom Hourglass. No Pokémon or 3rd party titles. And still exclusive to Wii U.
- Link musou in august (includes a new zelda demo) Smash Bros. in september, Bayonetta in october, X in november. That's it for Wii U.
- QoL. It will take about 40 minutes. No games. QoL Fit, QoL Health, QoL Music and QoL Brain for launch. No third party support.
- No new 3DS announcements. Pokémon Z (or XY2) will be announced prior to E3 so there will be some new localizations, Jam with the band 2, Fossil Fighters 3, Yokai Watch, Little Battles 3DS and Theatrhythm Curtain Call. That's it, no Majora's Mask, no 2D metroid, no F-zero or no Advance Wars 3D. Just stuff that noone asked for.
- Absolutely no 3rd party stuff for both Wii U and 3DS.

I would assume most unannounced Wii U projects have already shifted development to Nintendo's next console, so as far as new software announcements on the Wii U front are concerned, I expect very little. I think they know they have to release Zelda on the system however, and between that, Smash Bros., X, Bayonetta 2, Yarn Yoshi, and that Fire Emblem game, they won't really have a shortage of things to show for this year anyway.

On the 3DS, I fully expect Majora's Mask 3D to finally be announced, among other things.

Anything else they could announce is completely up in the air though. A new console announcement isn't going to happen until 2015 at the very earliest. A new portable could happen, but I think Nintendo want's to keep the 3DS going for a bit longer. I think we know too little about the quality of life thing to make any serious predictions on it.

Miyamoto's game has to be shown at this point or I'd consider its time for him to just retire full stop. I'm also fascinated by what they'll be able to punt out that will "really define the GamePad" new game-wise as per the last investor briefing, but I expect it will just be Zelda almost alone in that effort. As ever its going to be weird seeing all the same games again with X, Bayonetta, Smash, etc. Turning up to multiple E3's always feels like a badge of embarrassment "Yeah we're still not done".

They also should really and earnestly put work into a Nintendo Plus subscription. Take the concept of NES Remix + Virtual Console + HD port-ups, and bundle them together into an must-have service thats going to pump more money their way.

TGS is when I think they should tease the next handheld. E3 is too soon, and Nintendo seemingly wants to make QoL seem like a big deal before it gets overshadowed by another big new thing.

I also wish I was a fly on the wall at Nintendo HQ after they dropped the vitality sensor to almost total raspberry noises, and how we're seemingly back there again so swiftly. Ubisoft having the same kind of crap on the go made me think somehow Yves insanity was convincing Nintendo of things that weren't there too.

Zelda WiiU
Zelda Musou
Yoshi Yarn
Bayo2
X
SMT X FE
Smash
Sonic Boom
More remakes
I think we'll finally see Metroid again in addition to a few new games.

3DS is kinda different since we've already seen most big franchises on it. There's a lot of opportunity for secondary franchises like Advance Wars. The only specific titles I can think of are Ruby/Sapphire and MM remakes.

True, but they're a big fucking deal, and it's part of the game and it needs to be played.

I don't think there's any doubt that Nintendo's decision to stream a Direct instead of the usual clowning around for a live crowd left them distinctly off the media radar.

psssh says you

Too soon ?

Maybe TGS ?

....or do you think this game was a collective hallucination ?

Nintendo doesn't attend TGS.

So I guess it would be perfect for them to announce SMTxFE there ;)

I hope they can finally offer a better quality stream for their Direct. Yeah, I also hope they do a Direct again, it's more game focused than the usual wannabe Hollywood style show E3 offers. And I don't care about this kind of "perception" and neither should Nintendo at this stage, it's not going to influence the press narrative.

Give me some Zelda U info (story trailer) + a TP HD remake, and I'm all ready to go. An unrealistic dream would be an OoT 1080p 30(+?)fps remake, I'd love me some of that.

E3 presentation will consist of Smash Bros, X, Yarn Yoshi, Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta 2, and Zelda reveal at the end. Maybe one other new game like a Mario 3D World 2 or something.

Last year's presentation was extremely predictable so I don't see why this year would be any different.

They're in a catch 22. If they do a press conference, the story will be how bad they're lineup is. If they don't, the story will be that they didn't do one.

If they don't have any hardware to show(new handheld, QOL, whatever), then they aren't going to impress no matter what they do.

Iwata says it only takes one game to turn this thing around yet he refuses to let that game happen.

Pokemon MMORPG

It's time, Iwata.

A Pokémon MMORPG is never going to happen in a million years for the following reason;

-It will not save the Wii U sales

-It will not work since Pokémon is turn based, which means the game will have to be heavily changed just to make it work.

-Pokémon is aimed at kids

-Japan don't play MMORPG especially one on a console.

For that matter a main series Pokémon game for the home console isn't happening either, as Pokémon is and will always be a handheld series.

I am willing to bet they skip again and keep with the ND method. However, If Nintendo doesn't come out and absolutely hit a home run the best case scenario would be that the Wii U dies off this fall and they announce a new console in a year or two. That would be the absolute best thing that could happen for them things could be much worse after E3.

An actual show. At least make an effort to look like they give a shit and are going to try. Try to build some type of excitement for your systems and give people a reason to support them instead of acting like they got their feelings hurt and took their ball and went home. No one likes that kid.

They should just do what they've been doing for years. Which is to not reveal anything exciting and then sit around wondering why no one is paying attention to them.

Nintendo has stated that they are far more open to allowing 3rd parties to make games with Nintendo properties, I imagine there are some collaborations/IP trades that Nintendo has up their sleeve.

They should have full Smash/Bayonetta/X blowouts, the reveal of Zelda wii U, fexsmt, EAD tokyo has 2 studios don't they, one of which was working on something other than SM3dW, Miyamoto has a new IP, they probably want to get an AC out on the system, which is big if it's more new leaf and less city folk with much improved online, intelligent systems should have something to announce (FE wii U) as atlas is making fexsmt... There is quite alot.

How many people predicted the QoL hardware, Hyrule Warriors, Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 2, The Wonderful 101, Kid Icarus Uprising, or Luigi's Mansion 2?

Sometimes we, as a general community, just get blind-sighted by this company. We can predict all we want, but often the surprises are really surprises.

That being said, I imagine E3 will involve the NFC game(s) they've been promising, Zelda, Smash, X, and Bayonetta 2.

Then, maybe we'll see Pokken or Seaman, both of which have been trademarked. Maybe they'll show off that Pikachu detective game for 2015 a little early. Maybe Tomodachi Collection, Fossil Fighters: Infinite Gear, or Band Bros. P will be announced for the West. Maybe there'll be HD remakes, or new IPs. Maybe we'll see a Metroid or Rhythm Heaven game for the 3DS.

Best Case Scenario:
75% Focus on 3DS Software and Applications
Wii U Related Items:
-New Hardware Bundles or even Colors
-Such as a Matte Platinum Console with Bayonetta 2 and/possibly W101
-Shift in Software reveal mentality
-Nintendo has stated that they no longer want to announce many projects, like Zelda only for it to be delayed and be released years after its Initial reveal. Which is fine, but for a Console in the Wii U's shoes, we need to see the Long Term investment, as oppose to just the now.
-Marketing Strategy Shift on upcoming releases outside of the usual.
-Keeping the Digital Download promotion active, removing it from a promo and making it a feature.
-Potential Console Redesign: changing the look of the Box and Making the Gamepad possibly a bit smaller (this would only really effect games like Game and Wario)
-And of course new games announced outside of the ones we already are aware of.

Worst/This is probably what will end up happening Scenario:
85% of Conference is 3DS Focused
Wii U related Items
-Heres the games we've announced since last year. We're giving no dates on Half the items.
-Zelda Wii U
-Yet another Mario Game, Probably Mario Party
-NFC DLC to existing games
-Nintendo Smart Watch...or wait, Non-wearable....Nintendo Air Purifier

A giant open world 3d Pokemon game.

A subription play whatever you want from their first partyr back catalog nes to Wii one price

Only things I'm so interested in at this point

Hoping for some kind of Majoras Mask remake for WiiU complete with gold disk, case, and MM figure.(Dream)

I'd also take a Metroid Prime HD edition, a little sumth'n sumth'n to get us by until the next installment.

We need an announcement of a new IP crossover partnership...honesty not sure how best to pimp out Nintendo characters, but being they've been pretty tight with Capcom perhaps they could work something out for a Tatsunoko sequel, or agree to publish and advertise MH4 WiiU???

Sega partnership needs to go beyond Sonic, give us Panzer Dragoon, Jet Grind, or something new.

RE4 HD edition with Wiimote control, I'd buy it at a high price.

What I realistically expect is more of what we already know about with very few, if any surprises. I expect them to shed a little more light on their QOL arm of gaming devices...mostly another underwhelming E3 all around for Nintendo.
