What should be the next HD title Nintendo makes?

YESSS AND ORIGINS

Something original maybe? Im burned out wt Mario games.

Nothing. New games, please.

None. Just add GC to the Virtual Console and just have the console boot the game files in Wii Mode.

None work on a new game instead, but if i had to choose Resident Evil and MGS Twin Snakes

Dammit! You people are awful and terrible. Do you approach movies the same way? "Ugh, I wish they'd stop with these old movie releases on Blu-ray with better picture and sound quality and make NEW movies instead."

I've listed several games in similar topics in the past, but I'll just say they should probably do a Mario remake next for variety's sake. Something as big remaking Mario 64 with a "modern" look would be amazing. Aside from that, I agree that Sunshine would be great in a "they could really tweak the problems and make the game look gorgeous ala Wind Waker" way.

I really wish they'd make a line of "HD Classics" like the PS3 has though.

yeah working on hd remake for a game =/= working on remastering a movie...

Custom Robo with online
1080 and 1080 avalanche
Wave race Blue Storm and 64.
Star Fox Assault and Adventures
Elite Beat Agents + Ouendan 1+2

Mentioned this in the Wind Waker HD thread but I really don't know how they could do games like Mario Sunshine without analog triggers, or Mario Galaxy without the pointer controls. That being said, a Mario 64 HD remake would be glorious, and just the thought of F-Zero GX at 60 FPS and 1080p arouses me to no end.

Considering a game that could both really use a visual boost and use some tweaking to improve the overall experience like WWHD the choice really falls to Twilight Princess in my book.
Which is a pretty boring choice considering it's another Zelda title but I guess this series suffers the most when it comes to small flaws that mount up and could be quite easily fixed (see also: Skyward Sword).
Coming to think of it even games that were in the Wii's NPC range underwent a few small changes to try and improve how they played, the Pikmin games in particular.
Then you have DK Jungle Beat which had to change more drastically, point being that if Nintendo revisit a game in HD it's likely to get a few small changes even if the games aren't more notably flawed in ways like the Wind Waker was.

People have thrown around Xenoblade quite a bit and that's actually quite a good one, it would benefit more from the visual boost and could hopefully tone down on the grind happy late game along with some other small alterations and the whole game would be a lot better for it.
Otherwise I'll just choose from my favourites, yes I'll take the HD Galaxy games, DKC Returns yet again but now in HD and another Metroid Prime Trilogy, HD Sanctuary Fortress in Prime 2 would probably be too much for me.

I mostly just want new games, but anything Blast Corps would be awesome and every 3D Mario could benefit in some way:

Mario 64 - The graphics leap would be the biggest and might open the game up to another generation.
Sunshine - They could fix the Blue Coins and tweak some other stuff.
Galaxy 1 & 2 - Remove motion controls.

HD remakes take way more effort than remastering a movie. It's not like actors and the director have to come in and reshoot things, it's all just technical work that doesn't take up any resources for new movies. People working on HD remasters/remakes are the same developers that could be working on new games though.

I'd rather those resources be used to make new games than to make enhanced versions of games I already own that are fine in their current form.

F-Zero GX.

I'd also like Majora'a Mask, though that's destined for 3DS. Would rather have it on Wii U since they did a great job with Wind Waker, and a ground up remake for MM would look gorgeous even if it'd take more effort than a 3DS remaster.

you could argue that NSMBU was a HD remake & so was Pikmin 3, Nintendo needs to be coming out with NEW games & ideas for games, i have been disapointed with the constant 'graphics updates of games by Nintendo & what Iwata has said, play all your fave Nintendo games in HD for the first time, yeah ok but don't just retro-fit HD & a couple of extra tweaks in the game, if your going to do this then don't charge full price, i have not played ZWW-HD but i did play the GC version, but ZWW-HD looks ok but it costs more than W101 for example.

1. Metroid Prime
2.
Freedom Fighters (Hey, it's my list so I can pick the games I want.)
3. Mario Sunshine
4. Starfox Adventures
5. F-Zero GX

wat.

Galaxy games just to see them in glorious HD.

TP and SS for HD and to see if Aonuma and team can fix some of the mistakes made with those games.

F-Zero GX because not only would it look incredible, but a low budget, quick HD remake of an old title is the best we're going to get out of F-Zero in the near future =(

Metroid Prime Trilogy with Wii Remote controls and Dual Analog controls for the Gamepad and Pro Controller. Some of the most critically acclaimed games of all time and it could rejuvenate the hibernating Matroid franchise after the disaster that was Other M.

Also a Mario Galaxy collection. These should get top priority.

Well yeah, full fledged remakes built from scratch are practically new games I agree. Simple HD remasters that use most of the original assets and I disagree, I find it very comparable.

I'd say the only difference is that movies are viewable in just a couple hours while games take up significantly more time. Some of us actually like replaying games and having them optimized for new systems and TVs. Plus the notion that it takes away precious development time from other potential games is ridiculous. Wind Waker HD only took 6 months from a small team, it wasn't all of EAD or anything, so there's no need to be obnoxiously obtuse about it.

Another Zelda game? Metroid Prime Trilogy perhaps? Good ol' Mario, or something else entirely?

Would you want Nintendo to just HD it like most of the HD remakes out there, or spend time on it like Wind Waker HD?
EDIT: Just read that it only took 6 months to dev WWHD. So add features like WWHD.

I'm really hoping Wind Waker HD does well enough for Nintendo to see that people will pay for these games (personally I don't think $50 was too much to ask for WWHD, but thats just me) and we get Metroid Prime Trilogy HD.

Surely in the minority here, but i would love an original DKC trilogy remastering process, keep the exact same assets, just up-res them up... they would look marvelous.

EDIT: Mario 64, because i never got around to playing it... and i won't because it looks truly hideous in it's current available forms.

It's "only" six months, but that's still six months that could have been used to work on something new. Unless they outsource it I don't see how it's comparable, and if a remaster is outsourced it's probably not going to have any improvements aside from graphics which completely defeats the purpose (in my opinion).

And at least Wind Waker is somewhat unique in that it really could have used the remaster to fix some of it's problems.

Yep, these are all my answers too. SS with similar user friendly tweaks to all the ones found in WWHD alone would elevate the game to one of my favorites in the series. And if it had selfie mode I don't even know what I'd do

An HD collection of the two Galaxy games would be the real huge one for me, and it seems the most obvious too. Would be a great lineup buffer next year, either during a barren summer or a holiday with delayed Smash. Only problem with this one I see is that, even though I love the controls in the Galaxy games, I would want Nintendo to listen to the whiners and re-tool it to be played with traditional controls, if only so I could play it in bed on the game pad. Not sure if Nintendo would be willing to do that, but I think it could bring a fair bit of recognition to the system if Wiimote naysayers could play the games without motion controls

In developing WWHD, they also created several tools to allow them to effectively reuse the original art assets of Gamecube games to recreate them in HD on the Wii. Given those tools, and the ability to contract out a lot of the drudge work to teams from other companies (companies who otherwise would probably have the team working on multiplatform titles, or exclusives for other consoles), it makes a lot of sense for them to be putting out remasters of Gamecube era titles with broad base appeal. While many of us older generation would've played them already, there would be a fairly large proportion of the Wii generation who've never actually played the games.

If they did go down this route, I'd prefer to see them working on titles from franchises which have fallen by the wayside this past generation, rather than seeing remakes of their core franchises. F-Zero makes a lot of sense as an initial starting point. An enhanced version of GX which included the AX tracks and the ability to race online would be a substantial upgrade over the original. Eternal Darkness would be another game that deserves a HD version. Nintendo renewed the trademark at the end of last year, so they're clearly still interested in the property.

As for remakes of Wii generation games, those are probably still too fresh in people's minds for them to justify being able to sell a remake at full price, particularly with titles which were added to the Player's Choice line like Mario Galaxy. The only titles which would really work here would be ones which didn't get a release outside of Japan, such as Zangeki no Reginleiv or Project Zero 4 (a.k.a. Fatal Frame 4).

I just don't understand why there can't be a balance and why remasters are such a "waste". That's what really confounds me (aside from being a killjoy in a fun thread)

Metroid Prime Trilogy HD with brand new textures and new lighting..

Super Mario Sunshine

Luigis Mansion

Ah hell. Just do all first party Nintendogames from Gamecube era

Mario 64 with 3D World assets, maybe? I know nothing about game engines but hopefully something like that could work! Make sure Mario controls the same exact way as 64, though.

I would love Majora's Mask on WiiU instead of the 3DS..straight up full remake. This would be my first choice for the WiiU, but I have a feeling we'll see it on the 3DS. Dreams ruined. :/

I don't know why people seem to want more GCN remakes than N64 ones. N64 remakes on the WiiU would be glorious. Honestly my favorite redone games of the 360/PS3 generation was Banjo Kazooie and Perfect Dark. They looked amazing. The leap is sooo noticeable and so much more worth it.
