What's your favorite Final Fantasy Job?

Samurai. Usually have my favorite skills of all the jobs. Was one of the best jobs in XI, and I will be returning to XIV when they include it. Unless it super sucks, or is a tank.

Classic FF (pre FF7)
Monk because they deal heavy damage and dont need any weapon.

Post FF7
Samurai because they are cool

The coolest
Dragoon because they are the coolest.

Always gotta be repping a Dragoon when I can, thanks to my favorite FF title and character in said title. Though, I also am fond of Black Mages and Blue Mages, especially in FFXI despite the spell grind.

My fave job is white mage. Great skills and amazing outfits! I love the white robes, they're so iconic.
Also dragoon just never felt really powerful in most games, so I never played them much. They look cool, though.

Just look at it. Goddamn, that's adorable.

I have a soft spot for Black Mage, but also Paladin\Samurai.

Summoner is usually pretty cool. Even when gimped like in FFXIV where you don't get real summons like in XI they are still fun to use. It was so cool in XI getting to have Fenrir and Diabolos by your side (and geared right costing no MP to keep out).

Blue Mage in FFXI was a lot of fun where you had to go out and learn the moves from the monsters and you could mix and match spell sets for bonuses. I really hope they come to FFXIV in the next expansion. If it's focussed on Ala Mhigo there is a good chance of it happening.

Dark Knight is a lot of fun in FFXIV where it's more focussed on MP management rather than HP management due to them being a tank class. A lot more interesting than using Paladin (or it was, PLD has gotten more fun in 3.0 but was super boring in 2.0).

I've always been pretty partial to the Dragoon or Monk for physical, Black Mage for magical

Sometimes I wish that Monks could equip like a staff, not a magical one but a solid wooden or physical based one. Seems like it could be a nice aesthetic to the martial arts idea behind them. I've always wanted to effectively use a monk with battle bamboo in FFT.

It's not in FFT but they did implement it in FFTA/FFTA2. There was a job called "White Monk" that allowed you to wield pole-arms. In FFTA2 they introduced a "Master Monk" job that was one of the growth paths for White Monk characters.

Black Mage.

Black Mage.

Black Mage

I can't live without a Thief.

Black Mages are so cool too.

Black Mage because they are ministers of death, praying for war!

I'm torn between Black Mage (FFTactics' are my favorites) and Red Mage. Both are super iconic.

Black Mage. Followed by SMN.

Played a BLM for years in FFXI.

In FFXIV I was a SCH, but that's because it was the only job with some complexity and FFXIV BLM is... ugh.

Black Mage

Black Mage Dragoon Warrior (Fran). Thanks FFXII :D

Black Mage. Every enemy has a weakness, and black mage is always there to crush them with it.

Black Mage, or Dark Knight. Bit gutted that the latter is a tank in FFXIV, as I hate tanking.

Black Mage and Ninja, for obvious reasons.
Kuro madoushis represent!!!!

Monk, Ninja, Samurai, in that order.

Hoping that when FFXIV finally introduces Samurai, it's not a fucking tank.

I wonder how the tank population changed with DRK. I didn't stay long enough after HW to see a difference, if any.

But yeah the two jobs I figure could go either way were DRK and SAM. Both have DPS and tank stuff going on when it comes to the series as a whole. But since DRK got made to a tank, SAM better be a DPS. DRG is the only 2H DPS, and the whole parry/evasion tank thing people want SAM to be just isn't different enough. Had they kept the dual job thing like SCH/SMN, I'd be fine with a tank and dps branch and you could choose which one to optimize.

It's a shame that Paladins in FF4 are such horseshit, but that's what the game is I guess

oh wait hi corvo what are you doing here

You don't know what the fuck you're talking about for one thing there is only one Paladin in IV.

I want to talk about thieves. I have an admiration for them since my favorite character is a thief. They're swift and their ability to steal from enemies is useful most of the time. It depends on the game because certain ones the items you steal are pretty common and in others the successful steal rate is very low.

My favorite iteration of the thief class has to be X-2's where all of their abilities are steal-based. Steal HP and Steal MP are basically the physical versions of Drain and Osmose and then you can literally steal time from enemies with Borrowed Time and snatch souls too. I liked the little gimmick.

i like pet jobs or support jobs
so summoner, red mage, and bard
beastmaster was great before they destroyed it

ffxiv made me HATE dps jobs

As much as I really liked the Mystic Knight job from FFV, I think I'll have to go with Red Mage. Swordchucks! Also, I always wished FFXI Red Mage's Enspell attacks would do as much damage as a Mystic Knight's magic sword, that would've been great.

Blue Mages get the coolest spells in most of the games.

Dragoons just plain look the coolest and have the most conceptually fun ability.

Calculator in FFT was really fun for breaking the game wide open (CT 5 Holy while carrying Excalibur with the entire party wearing Chameleon Robes = Entire enemy team nuke + Entire party heal, for free).

It's really hard to pick because there isn't one class that just checks all those boxes heh.

Black Mage. Devastating magic is the way to go. Red Mage comes close but them not being able to use top level magic and armor sucks.

Dragoon, White Mage, Paladin, Black Mage...hmmm...

I like tank/healer for a main character or hero character a lot (paladin). I love spears, Jump is cool, and dragon style armor is cool so Dragoon has got to be the most stylish. I have a soft spot for the FF1/Vivi design, so I love Black Mage. Healing is awesome so White Mage...

I really don't know what my absolute favorite is tbh, but I'll go with Dragoon.

Blue Mage, learning monster skills is always fun.

Getting skills in XI was so so fun. Wandering to some far away dangerous place. Most likely alone. Maybe you'd find another BLU trying to learn the same spell and you buddy up for a while. Made some good friends that way.

Blue Mage when it's done well. Enemy abilities are usually pretty neat, and sometimes very powerful.

Ninja and Mystic Knight/Magic Swordsman after that.

Ninja, you get to throw everything and the kitchen sink, you're fast, you get to use two weapons and you dress cool.

After that I would go with Magic Knight. I like a job that can use a sword and being able to cast magic on your sword to add some extra oomph is pretty cool
