It's not in FFT but they did implement it in FFTA/FFTA2. There was a job called "White Monk" that allowed you to wield pole-arms. In FFTA2 they introduced a "Master Monk" job that was one of the growth paths for White Monk characters.I've always been pretty partial to the Dragoon or Monk for physical, Black Mage for magical
Sometimes I wish that Monks could equip like a staff, not a magical one but a solid wooden or physical based one. Seems like it could be a nice aesthetic to the martial arts idea behind them. I've always wanted to effectively use a monk with battle bamboo in FFT.
Choose? How am I to choose?!
Black Mage.
Black Mage.
Black Mage
I can't live without a Thief.
Black Mages are so cool too.
Black Mage because they are ministers of death, praying for war!
I'm torn between Black Mage (FFTactics' are my favorites) and Red Mage. Both are super iconic.

Black Mage. Followed by SMN.
Played a BLM for years in FFXI.
In FFXIV I was a SCH, but that's because it was the only job with some complexity and FFXIV BLM is... ugh.
Black Mage

Black Mage Dragoon Warrior (Fran). Thanks FFXII![]()
Black Mage. Every enemy has a weakness, and black mage is always there to crush them with it.
Black Mage, or Dark Knight. Bit gutted that the latter is a tank in FFXIV, as I hate tanking.
Kuro madoushis represent!!!!Black Mage and Ninja, for obvious reasons.
Monk, Ninja, Samurai, in that order.
Hoping that when FFXIV finally introduces Samurai, it's not a fucking tank.
It's a shame that Paladins in FF4 are such horseshit, but that's what the game is I guess
oh wait hi corvo what are you doing here
