I always wondered why Americans are fascinated with the British accent. I know my American friend at university was fascinated by mine, because I have a typically pronounced one.
We associate the accent with the posh, sophisticated lifestyles of the royal family, although I can't speak for every American and that is partially true.
I personally think that the British accent and the Irish/Scottish accents are sexy and as such they are a turn on to me.
