Ive had a PS4 since day one. Never put a disc in It. Ill buy one with a disc drive if the price difference is small.

With games growing ever larger, if I do buy a PS5, I'll absolutely want the conveniences afforded by discs. I'd also want to use the console as a Blu-ray player, although hopefully they'll be a more full-featured media remote option, even if third party.

I'd be stupid to buy a digital version of a system I'm planing to get for the BC...when I mostly own all physical. Also maybe Sony will actually keep their word and make a good Bd player with a good sound card. So I'd test out my collection and compare it to my seperates to as well.

Pretty valid point.
Sales go much faster with physical games. Not only that, but were I live I can snag some pretty sweet deals like buy 3, pay 2, on games that weren't even released yet, so...
Even though the digital only console looks more symmetrical, I will 100% go for the one with optical drive.

Definitely disc. The SSD will not be large and games will only get bigger. I'd rather be able to install most of a 150GB game from a disc than need to download the entire thing every time I want to dig out an old game (assuming the day 1 patch doesn't require you to just download the entire game all over again).
I also watch a lot of Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray, so it's a no-brainer.

I'm leaning disk based but it really depends on price. I may play 10 games on the thing so if the digital only saves me a little up front, I may be OK with not being able to buy those 10 games at discounted prices well after release.

The thing that's really tempting is that the discless version definitely has better aesthetics. It almost looks like a modern take on the 360 'breathe in' design.
On the disc version, the symmetrical look is lost, and so is a bit of that vibe. It almost feels like Sony targeted the discless system when creating the design, with the other being a bit of an afterthought.

Disc version still plays digital, so why would I want a gimped console? Granted, a vast majority of games I play ARE digital (besides Switch) mostly due to PS+/GWG, but I do find enough disc games cheaper than digital, like to have my options open. Buying the digital only version basically locks you into Sony's store and kills any chances of competition where you could find games cheaper (before even talking of selling). Not to mention, being able to play my sweet 4k Blurays sounds nice. I do on my XBOne S but another device is good, too.

Physical only. I like having a tangible copy of what I buy, and I've been locked out of other content I've purchased before. Plus I doubt the digital version will be backwards compatible.

Physical all the way. I like owning my games and have them in physical boxes. But with Sony releasing an all digital system right from the get go makes me think thos will be the last generation with physical games. It's inevitable. If that happens PS5 will be my last console. I'm going retro after that.

I've gone more digital, but I still like the option to buy a disc and sell when I'm done for shorter games I want to play at launch. I also need a Bluray player. We don't watch ours very often any more, but out standalone player died so I only have the PS4 that I'll likely sell (or trade in if there's a good enough promo deal) when I move on to PS5.
I don't give a shit about owning my games or collecting. The vast majority are one and done for me and I rarely replay things even years later unless it's a full remake ages later. I used to fully buy physical and sell when done on eBay/Amazon (or trade on Goozex several years back), but I've done that less as my financial situation improved as I got older. So the convenience of digital is often the way I go. Again, aside from things I'll beat in a weekend but don't want to wait for steep discounts as I want to avoid spoilers or whatever.

Why wouldnt you get the disc version ... I can see it now, I slice open the game box packaging on those handy collar fin things, then I toss the disc in and the near instantaneous load times give me just enough of a moment to slip my sunglasses on for a full night of gaming badassery. What's that, the sweet new load times dont apply to the bluray? Doesnt matter. My console has fins.
