Which Racing game are you getting this year Gaf?

Trying to decide if I want to get Forza Horizon 2 so close to Driveclub. How many racing games does one need, friends?

I played Project Cars on PS4 and I was disappointed a little. It's ugly and has unstable framerate.
Driveclub (surprisingly arcade) and Forza Horizon 2 (loved the first one) will be my choices.
I'm interested on The Crew's Outrun mode.

First time hearing this. Is it as good as it sounds? Racing against the clock with your girlfriend at your side and roads that fork into two on each checkpoint? If so I'll be watching that game closely.

Drift Stage is 2014?

I thought it was, but I see they haven't given a date yet, and it seems T9AR doesn't have one too. :(

My racing game this year is Project CARS (on wiiU, and apparently next year).

Driveclub, first the plus, will get physical if I like it. I tend to burn out fast on racers though. Now, if there were Wipeout PS4...

If any, I'll end up getting Driveclub. I'll see if I like the PS+ version and if so I'll pick it up. The game actually has tracks so I'm excited for that at least.

Personally I wish we we're getting more arcade racers. Where's Ridge Racer Namco?

Project CARS (PC) for sure. Driveclub if I can find decent price. No Xbox so no Horizon 2 :(. Hate what I played of The Crew.

Driveclub is a positive maybe. I'll test it on PS+ and then decide if I want to buy it. The Crew seems cool, but it's Ubi and it has microtransactions so I'll wait after we know how the shop is.

Ha, OP doens't seem particular informational more than it does bias. That's bullets for most and a lot of trash on The Crew.

Does the Mercedes Benz DLC pack for Mario Kart 8 count too?

I'm more of a Sim racer myself so I might really just be checking out impressions of Project Cars when it comes out. I might pick up GT6 instead once it drops to $30, but then I will fear for the rest of my backlog going unplayed again :(

'Polygons per car' is the absolute best measure to judge racing games OP, I've been saying this since Pitstop II on the C64

IDK. The music might not be that great and definitely there's no girlfriend on the right seat (but she can be a player)

But yes, checkpoint based race thru USA

It's to my knowledge the only online only game of the four, and the only one with performance microtransactions. I fail to see how Mario Kart's free DLC is relevant to performance microtransactions.

I don't usually get too into Racing games, though there's a few NFS games I put a shitload of time into in the past. I even had a wheel back when I had the first Hot Pursuit and just adored fucking around with that as a kid.

I'll probably at least check out DriveClub+ since it's free. If I was to get one I think The Crew looks the funnest to fuck around in though. I don't really get into "racing", but I do like "playing" the games, which NFS has hit a lot of marks with me for over the years and The Crew looks like the closest one to that out of all of them.

Forza Horizon 2 for damn sure! Day one and pre-order digital when avaiable!

And maybe DriveClub. I will try the PS+ version first, and see if I will enjoy the gameplay. I really dont like racing simulators and love a good arcadey racing gameplay. However it seems DC will be a mix of both, so I have no idea of what to expect on that aspect. Also its quite limited featues wise... But as long as the gameplay makes me happy then its a potential purchase.

Horizon 2 - day one, looks by far the most fun of the four. I think this will be a triumph.

Driveclub - will try the PS+ version before spending money. I'm hoping this is the Evolution Studios that gave us WRC not Motorstorm. It's very pretty but remained unconvinced about gameplay/longevity.

The Crew - the new TDU. I'll try the beta this week. Likely a buy.

Project Cars - I've been a backer since early on. Played it lots. But to be honest, I'm not feeling the love. Like other SMS games I've played I often feel the controller is something I have to wrestle rather than being a friend.

Sadly none aslong as legacy support for wheels isn´t in on PS4.

If they manage to get that fixed tho i´d get Driveclub and likely Project Cars while waiting for GT7. :)

All of them.

Horizon 2 on XB1, Driveclub, Project Cars and The Crew on PS4.

Unless The Crew sucks, then I'll skip on that. I hope I can get into the beta.

So much Driveclub. The global illumination with randomly seeded clouds and customizable weather make me feel things... and being a cross between simulation and arcade racing gets me excited, considering how I've only ever loved Burnout but I've always wanted to play a racing game that's somewhat grounded.

Horizon 2, really like the look of PCARS but I'm not convinced it's gonna be FM smooth and I don't think I can handle inconsistent frame rate or 30fps on a sim.

DriveClub for me. If my Logitech DFGT was supported on PS4 then I would also be getting Protect Cars, but it's not...

Driving supercars across fields is beyond silly in my opinion.

Well we certainly shouldn't do anything silly while playing with toy cars on our TV. :)
