Who is buying an XBOX ONE Day One?

Not many people will be buying next-gen systems this holiday season compare to the 2 generations before it because there are just too many games that will be released for THIS gen systems

Metal Gear Solid 5
Destiny
Call of Duty games
Battlefield 4
etc...

Too little reason to spend $400+ on a new game system

No, i can't support a console like this. PC ps4 for me right now.

Yup. Genuinly surprised by the number of people here willing to buy this day 1...or even at all given what we were shown yesterday. I'm sure they have their reasons, but I just can't imagine the good outweighing the bad here.

Day one no. But really only because I find buying consoles day one silly.

Will I get it eventually? Maybe. I haven't decided if I want either console.

I am probably not, but it depends on Games and Price, and on what SONY has to offer at their pricepoint.

Anyone already know if they are 100% buying X1 day one?

-posted from my Gamepad-

ps lock if other thread like this was already created... I searched but didn't see anything...

Completely honest here, absolutely buying day 1. Will get PS4 at a later date, but will have both eventually.

I am. I will also buy a PS4 as I am a gamer and want to play ALL exclusives. I am not bothered by the DRM issues. I just need to go on a rant here about everyone saying the DRM issues are not fair or they suck. I hear a lot of "I'll just upgrade my PC or buy a PS4".
Ok. I'm going to make this as easy as possible to follow.

1. We do NOT know that Sony is not going to follow a similar type of policy to used games.
2. MS has gone on record saying you WILL be able to trade in your used games.
3. Everyone is complaining that you might not be able to lend a friend a game. Well, truthfully, why as a developer and publisher, would I want you to do that? I understand it from a consumer level, but as a dev/publisher I would want everyone who plays the game to purchase it.
4. Stop saying you'll just go PC only. The DRM MS is proposing is very similar to what the PC games currently have and Steam are using. "Well, at least we can buy the games from many different outlets and the prices are competitive" True, but you still have to BUY it.
5 Let's be realistic about the PC market. If the games aren't cheap than most people don't buy it. They pirate it. The only exceptions are WOW, Diablo 3, SimCity(yes I know about the problems, but it sold VERY well). Guess what? All are some of the most profitable PC games and are ONLY ONLINE!

The one thing that I wish would happen, but probably won't is that if this works out to be the case going forward, sales would rise and the publishers could, in effect, charge less and gain more volume which would offset. That would be the way it works in an ideal world, but I can't see that happening.

The fact is we have not been told everything yet and rather than go crazy about things that have not been cleared up yet, let's wait until they have and we can make an INFORMED opinion. This goes for SONY too. E3 will be very important for both companies and it will be the deciding factor for most.

It all depends on exclusives. I don't have enough room for all these cameras and peripherals so I will be going with only one. This E3 is really important and I hope they bring it.

I don't see what's so terrible about it, there's no direction here that the industry is not already naturally gravitating toward - the gears have been put in motion ages ago, and not by Microsoft. The changes are unstoppable, and frankly, I'm looking forward to their positive aspects. There's nothing bothering me on the personal level either, since I have no use for used games, and I have a working internet connection. In my case, everything will depend on the price and the games, and I already know I'm going to want some of the games.

PS4 Day one. Should have bought a WiiU day one with the chocolates from SDM. DAMN!

Depends on the games. Give me a couple games I can resist and I'll probably take the leap if the box is $400 or less.

At $500 I'd probably pass. At $600, I'd laugh.

They made a point to mention that the box is quiet, and I read somewhere that you can play installed games without the disk. Both of those are winners. Plus I need another blu-ray player in the house. So... yeah.

Edit: should add that the TV stuff does nothing for me since I don't have a cable box. Zero value for me.

How is anyone buying day one coming to that desicion after seeing the reveal? Honest question.

My girlfriend and I want a more efficient/cleaner system for the living room. One device is super appealing to us both in terms of ease of use in juggling all of our devices. Most of her family lives in another state, so as a regular user of Skype, the One's features regarding that are much appreciated.

I like the thought of a new console doing new things. Kinect 1.0 simply wasn't advanced enough and I hope Kinect 2.0 is. I've gone to MLG tournaments, played actively on gamebattles for a while--I'm still very much a huge competitive gamer/hardcore player, I've got three characters on Dark Souls right now, yet with all that said I'm intrigued by motion controlled games. I love the fact that the one isn't just a gaming console--if it was just about games I'd just get a PC and experience cheaper prices than either the One or Ps4 can offer and better visuals to boot + mods.

I'm not 100% in yet for Day 1, but I'm leaning towards it. I'm intrigued yet annoyed by the potential used games policy, but I need more detail before I make a big fuss about it. Some of my favorite developers have gone out of business this generation, and if me paying 4 bucks for a used title fee keeps them in business, then alls the better for everyone.

As for games, Ps4 and Xbox One are even for me right now. I trust Forza 5 over Drive Club, have zero interest in Killzone, am intrigued by Knack, and am in love with Infamous: Second Son and what little I've heard of Quantum Break.

E3 should be awesome.

Even with all of this garbage, I'll still end up with an Xbox because I'm sure there will be some good exclusives I'm interested in. Just not sure when.

I'll probably get PS4 at launch.

Its an ecosystem. PC DD is thriving off of the "get every sale we can get" mentality due to competing DD services, and the developers try to make up that loss as much as possible through console pricing.

And yet we've seen that it just isn't anywhere near sustainable. If consoles had steam and pc DD prices I don't see how anyone other than indies and AAA devs could put out games.

People talking about MS trying to destroy the industry--the console market is dying. Companies aren't profitable. Devs are taking their games mobile. Is the used game tax the answer? I don't really know, but if it can shift the balance back towards more console developed games then I'm for it within reason.

I agree with most of what you said. Likewise, PS4 is also on my radar, and it's also going to be a question of affordability and the line-up. If The Last Guardian is a PS4 game now, I'm already halfway in.

I will. I doubt that Microsoft's E3 will be a flop in terms of games.

I'll do the same with PS4.

What matters is play the games that deserve to be played, no matter on which console.

Only at a Negative price. (If they pay me)
And I'm not telling it out of sarcasm or anything...
I really feel dirty supporting a disgrace to gaming like this even if it goes F2P like most MMOs nowdays.

Yeah, I will buy both XBone and PS4. Will also buy Wii U at some point.

Not sure if XBone will be my main console, though.

I suppose if Remedy's new game is arriving on launch, I'll consider it. Alan Wake 2 would have made it a sure thing, but I'm feeling a little soured on the console after that unveil. I'll most likely be there at launch to support Remedy.

I'm not desperate enough anymore to buy any console on launch day. It's nearly always more pain than it's worth.

I'll wait till E3, if Crackdown 3 is happening and if the Rare classic is one I care about, it's all but for sure I'm getting one at launch.

I can understand the average Joe COD Shmoe picking this up...

But any of you fine educated NEOGAFers, I expect better.

Shame on any of you who support this thing.

Day Never

Some great games would have to come out for me to change my mind. As it is, the only game I want is Forza 5, but I'm scratching that itch with PC racing sims now.

It will have to kick the shit out of ps4 exclusives. I'm looking forward to KZ SF and I:SS, but on ZOMG game yet. An uncharted would be a ZOMG game.

Waiting for a price,a release date and the same for the PS4 to make my decision...day one to one of the two,if they launch around the same time, and if it's 400 bucks or less...

Probably not. Nor am I buying a PS4 at launch either. My backlog of games is too big already and there's still great games coming out. Neither side has given me a good reason where I need to upgrade this year.

Again, all depends on the pricing & games available. I'm anticipating 399 or less for XBone, and 499 or less for PS4. I might end up getting Wii U, if the premium drops to 239 or less during holiday season.

It will depend on what they show at E3 and their launch line up. If it's compelling then yes, absolutely. If it's not, I will probably wait until Halo 5 comes out.

One thing was for sure. If this had been backwards compatible then damn sure I'd have bought on day one. My 360 is not working fine.

I want to, but it's going to take a heck of an E3 and a load a features which actually make it to the UK/EU to convince me.

As it stands this will be the first console i don't buy day 1 since the Dreamcast

Great post. This about sums up how I feel about it: wait and see - at the very least until E3.
