A subreddit is a hive mind. You would have had a better experience on a more general gaming one.

Reddit is only good for news and porn. Anything negative is down voted or deleted.

Reddit is amazing in theory, since it has a sub for everything. Unlimited knowledge!

In reality, the mods turn it to a fascist dystopia 90% of the times, and you can't criticize at all (fuck you, any r/gaming-related), have a different opinion (fuck you, r/italy) even ask questions about the subject (fuck you r/chrome and r/windows).

its not a bad game but a solid main story is important for me and in HL it was kinda weak and i would have loved to see more choice and consequence , using unforgivable curse in front of users has no effect

maybe in the sequel we will see some improvements in those departments

Going by the results of the Asch Conformity test, I'd say that is normal behavior, and that experiment involved objective fact being disregarded due to the influence of others' interpretation. Probably even more likely to happen in the realm of pure opinion.

Perhaps try a different game, some games have a cult zealot fanbase. While imo this is not one of those games it still has a gathering that formed after the controversy surrounding the game and that most likely created a defensive fanbase.
Maybe try a subreddit like patient gamers or something.

I would suggest you look at how you phrase your posts if you want to encourage debate. Calling it mediocre is probably not a good idea in the game's own subreddit. Most people in there are fans, so coming at them with "your game sucks" is probably not smart.

Imagine going to concert and yelling at the fans that paid to be there that this music sucks.

Also, ask yourself this:
Is this an opinion worth sharing? What am I adding to the conversation about this game that hasn’t been shared and discussed before? Is this needlessly antagonistic?

In conclusion: A) People in general suck at debating and dealing with differing opinions. This is not limited to gamers. B) Learn how to phrase your comments to encourage constructive debate.

All three of those platforms have had instances where amazing discussions have taken place. But all 3 can also be cesspools that make Facebook seem clean by comparison.
