Why Shotty Snipers is ruining Halo...

I love how people are trying to justify a game type lots of people dislike being far too common, like it's some great decree from demi-Gods that can't be challenged.

The more time goes on, the more matchmaking is starting to bother me. Sometimes I just want to be able to play on the map I want, but none of my friends have 360s and I don't want to invite 10 random people off my friends list to play one game. I've only played on "sand level name" once because it never comes up in matchmaking for me, I'm stuck on fucking Valhiliaiaia or whatever it's called. It's putting a downer on what is otherwise a fantastic online experience.

I just want options. Can't you give me options?

Pretty sure they already said they were going to fix it. Complaining more isn't going to make it happen any faster.

10 out of my last 21 TS games have been shotty/snipers, which is a unacceptable. That means there were 11 games in which I had full choice of my weaponary. I CAN'T HANDLE THAT KIND OF RESPONSIBILITY. FIX IT BUNGIE!

Well I decided to check my stats.

55 Team Slayer Games total. 24 of the Shotty Snipers.

Which is roughly 44%. That is slightly more obnoxious than even I realized earlier. Glad this is being addressed.

I find it refreshing that Bungie as a company is willing to put whiners in their place and take their comments for what they are worth.

I can understand this matchmaking and playlist stuff in ranked play.

But I still don't understand why there isn't a true lobby in unranked or custom play. That makes no sense to me.

There's nothing to justify. Some people enjoy shotty snipers. Personally, I haven't had a huge problem with the game coming up that often. 8 out of 30 games for me were shotty snipers, I don't think that's ridiculous by any stretch of the imagination.

Excellent news. I don't understand why it takes so long though. It's not like you have to go through a certification to add a patch to your game. Just log on your computer at work that runs the servers, find SS gametype and press delete.

We are fixing the generous surfeit of Shotty Snipers games. It takes a little while, please be patient while we make improvements to your gaming experience.

You'd be amazed at the sense of entitlement spending $60+ will give some people. There are always vocal complainers rattling off their gripes with a game. The extreme ones will post on a message board championing the "I paid my money!!" card thinking that they will have the game developers shaking in their boots while rushing out to fix the issue.

Sadly, Halo 3 has sold an enormous amount of units. This vocal population of people is just going to be more abundant and a little more difficult to ignore than with normal releases.

I find it refreshing that Bungie as a company is able to insert its cock firmly between my lips without resting their nuts on my chin; quite the talent indeed.

Disregard my comments I'm just a whiny little bitch and as we all know Bungie is above reproach - that's what happens when your semen taste like thick forthy milkshakes.

I think it's great that Bungie is listening to complainers and making an already competent multiplayer game even better, keep the complaints comming. I do love how dedicated Bungie is their online userbase. I'm glad Bungie unlike you acknowledges flaws and corrects them as opposed to ignoring them.

Hey Stinkles, have you heard of any problems with people not being able to connect to social games? Not trying to bash Bungie but it's really irritating me and can't figure out what the problem is especially since my friends are playing Big team battles without me :(

With the way this thread started (shitty op) even an "MS does not comment on rumors or speculation" would suffice.

Don't forget the extra $50 for Xbox Live. I pay, I can complain. I'm just curious who thought it would be a great idea for the game type to dominate all other game types or is this a bug?

But I'm lactose intolerant. Bungie's out to hurt me?!

They are not listening to complainers. That is the point. They stat track everything, they know that this game type gets vetoed the majority of the time. Getting the internet in an uproar is not going to change anything that is already not slated to change. You'd do just as well starting an online petition.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DIDNT READ THIS THREAD BUT LAUGHED SO HARD WHEN I READ THE OP.
suck alittle less, easy fix.

What the hell? How are you guys coming to these fucking conclusions? How can you justify that its the game type and not the map? Like I said before I've YET to hear someone in 80+ games say "omg veto snipers!!" it's always "omg veto this fucking map."

Even though 80 games isn't even .00000000001% of the games played it's still a sized enough sample that to some extent it should show SOME light that it's the shotty snipers game type and not the map.

Then you missed the fact that they are in fact aware of the problem and are changing it.

LOL!!!!!

Currently, Shotty Snipers is appearing too frequently in the playlist, in part, we believe due to the veto system in Team Slayer, i.e. if Team Slayer on Snowbound is vetoed, the gametype that will come up is Shotty Snipers. We're addressing that this week, in addition to lowering the overall ratio of Team Slayer to Shotty/Snipers.

Well, then you guys are just a bunch of complainers. When we had Halo 1, all we played was snipers on blood Gulch. To do anything else would be hypocrasy.

The issue isn't the existence of the mode, but that it's clearly something a lot of people are being forced to play more commonly than they like. Personally I think it's an inherent problem of matchmaking without the ability to customise searches that people will have issues like this, but that's something we know won't be fixed on Bungie's side in a matter of days, if at all.

Besides, Luke Smith said it's an issue, and Luke Smith is never wrong.

Actually it is cool, and more games should make it optional.

Jumping from game to game with a bunch of friends seemlessly is the only reason I play this over-rated FPS.

Fixed. Matchmaking is fine and all, but there is no reason you can't also just have a server list/room list for people that want to jump into a certain game.

just to help out thats not the only issue with ss.

i have had it come up veto and it come up again. i have a night where every game was ss and we had to veto to get the other gametypes. its not the veto system though when a map is vetoed it is always ss that comes up. but that doesn't explain it comming up first 50 percent of the time. next the maps also come up right after one another. ocne again we can not veto the map for fear of ss

like here i had to play snowbound 4 times in a freaking row. valhalla and last resprt never come up in team slayer unless its ss. another issue not tied to the veto system. it seems those two maps are reserved for ss only on team slayer.

i have played alomst 300 games since launch and have not been bashing bungie as some have been here. but please don't feed us bs about the veto system. even if its to help calm the community. this should ahve been addressed to us in the weekly update but instead yall ranted about 640p when those of us who are playing the game do not care about 640p crap. Next make sure those in the know understand the issue is more than the veto system so please fix it right. so far ss is the only flaw in halo 3 for me. and i trust it will be fixed.

here is my gamelist i have played. i tend to run a game and let the auto start run so i never go back to the lobby. as you can see i am getting tons of maps over and over again/ sometimes its due to the fact i had to veto the ss.

as a crackdown owner and beta user its upsetting we had a beta and we have a simple issue like we did with halo 2 when it launched. back than it was ok halo was not online. halo 2 was a learning thing. what did we learn. all the great gametypes are gone. it should have been a cut and paste of halo 2 and we adjust from there. we wasted a beta and halo 2's lessons.

just a honest opinion from a longtime fan. its understandable alot of us halo fans are frustrated over this. its upsetting ferrex replied like he did. had the community been told in the weekly update what the plans were as it should have been a long detailed one for the launch of the game this thread would not exist. fix it and lets move on

Lefty

Glad to see the bungie people on here saying its being looked at. Some stages are alright for it, but since I suck a crap ton of ass with a sniper rifle it sorta limits me a little bit.

no look at it like this. halo 2 had a seperate team snipers gametype. this was addressed in halo 2 and resolved. so instead of bringing that gametype over they chose to add it back to team slayer. and than it comes up all the freaking times adding to this frustration. its like they decided to start over. instead they should have migrated those improvements and let the veto system work out whats popular and whats not.

i played over 7,000 halo 2 game son this gt. more on another. and i ma quite shocked they decided to take this path with the gametypes after what we learned from halo 2 and how that evloved. this is why there is such backlash so far. atleast in my circle of friends.

Evilore has always sucked Sony cock, what did you expect? He unbans a Sony developer calling PGR4 trash, but then talks shit to a Bungie guy.

I'm glad that you don't work at Bungie.

ferrex crossed the line. like it or not. as a bungie fan i was a lil hurt and shocked casue we went thru this same complaining when halo 2 came out. wtf no team slayer than we had to beg to get team snipers its own game type.

we have the right to be upset. and i am glad evilore let him know that.

my 2 cents

what playlist is snotty snipers in?

i need to play that shit before it's gone forever!

so far i've only played basic training, lone wolves and double team (with my brother that some people in the Warhawk thread said didnt exist)

team slayer.

but the fix should be to put ss in its own playlist. we used to have a team snipers playtype. i even liked it from time to time. pop in there snipe some with friends. still do not understand why the removed that playtype for halo 3.

Here I was all prepped to make a post to the effect of "every online game will have some form of configuration time, growing pains of sorts", and then I read ferrex posts. I guess the success is so immense that these guys can afford being prats to their customers now. Although that may be unfair as I don't see Stinkles doing this, but it's still more than a little troubling.
