This deserves its own thread
i am going to enjoy this :lol
I'm a bit confused- that Eurogamer article said absolutely nothing new and frankly said nothing that would go against the consensus in this thread for months. Why are certain posters trumpeting the article as some new, profound breakthrough that "proves" their point?
What's gonna happen with all my Wii VC games? Nintendo still needs to tell us.
at the thought of playing super Mario RPG on the wii u controller B^)
smh I don't think I'd buy them all over again if we can't transfer
Has a 20 minute walkthrough of Retro's new game leaked yet???
~ Stopped reading here.
GPU: The Wii U's graphics processing unit is a custom AMD 7 series GPU. Clock speed and pipelines were not disclosed, but we do know it supports DirectX 10 and shader 4 type features.
So there are two reasons why the system can't have only 1GB of total ram:
The two things I was looking for.
What the hell is wrong with you?!
So if there's someone with decent technical knowledge and the least bit of common sense, we'll be getting a big chunk of specs in no more than 48 hours?
Yeah man, you're defiantly the only person in the world not excited about the Wii U.I must be the only one not excited at all about the Wii U

This "new info" is the same that was leaked some time ago, where is the surprise?
I told a long time ago that the memory amount will be 1-1.5 gb in applications (depending on nintendo's choice) so ... I mean there is no new info in eurogamer's article. This is why devkits have 3 gb (doble memory in the "better" case I said long time ago).
So is anyone seriously still believing that the WiiU will be supported beyond the PS4/720 release.

WiiU version will not be as a cheap port as other big publisher games, but still don't expect any serious tech push. The controller will be implemented well, hopefully, given they have the time, resolution will be probably 1080p as well as better textures a bit (but they can make it only so high, they didn't design it for WiiU from the beginning) there would be more AA as well as other effects. But this stuff is all easy to do.
Given the landfill of sugar-coated PR garbage with the underlying sentiment that the Wii U is not seen as a viable platform - be it for technological reasons or otherwise - by devs/pubs, I don't even expect it to be properly supported pre-PS4/720.
That's fine with me, though, since I'll be getting a PS4 and/or 720 either way. But the Wii U damn well better get a lot of the quirky/unique experiences that we saw with the Wii, at least...
Also, I just realized, but... you're boris, aren't you? What happened to your username?
Memory info is good, but I'more interested in the CPU, GPU info. Can you confirm anything on that.
same thing with ME3. I wonder how many games are gonna be 1080p.Wha? Why you say that?
We pretty much have an idea, don't we? At least the same type of idea-without-confirmation that we had about the memory pool before this Eurogamer article/Emily Rogers comment.
Tri-Core OoOe PowerPC, clocked under 3.2GHz with 32MB of eDRAM, AMD solution similar to the R700 series (DX10 equivalent) with an output of between 500-600 FLOPS. I get that we are lacking in some detail work, but that pretty much gives us a picture, doesn't it?
Nothing Eurogamer said contradicts or inform, just provides further confirmation to what some awesome posters here have been saying for a while.

So it's essentially out-dated info?
ME3 1080p? link?
It was apparently (supposedly) in Nintendo Power.
I think Japan's developers who develop big budget HD games will be happy to have a second HD console to support in Japan, as the PS3 was the only one with a good install base, the 360 had practically no presence in Japan. I can see big Japanese developers like Capcom, Square Enix and Platinum Games porting games to the PS4 and Wii U and not really porting to 720 unless they want some western exposure. If Nintendo manages to establish themselves before the others launch 3rd parties may not have a choice. What if they manage to sell 10 million units before 720/PS4 launch ? That said with rising development costs and initially small install base of 720/PS4 they might not be able to ignore current gen as well, which is probably a reason they're all so keen on pointing out that their new engines are scalable.
That said it seems possible that at least Japanese developers might flock to Wii U, given current sales/install base of PS3 and Nintendo's head start. Also who knows, maybe some publishers will try to rise to the occasion and bet on Wii U instead of trying to manage their own demise.
