I had a feeling entering this thread tonight was a mistake.

There's more Rick's Bread and I'm obligated to watch it due to the promise from last year.

I'm gonna watch Chihayafuru, lie down and have a good cry.

It's just the yeasty aroma filling your insides, bringing peace to your body, mind, and soul.

Picked up Tsuritama again. Holy shit, casting sakuga??? I think I may have seen it all. Amazing show.

Sauces? A good extra-virgin olive oil and a bit of Maldon salt is all you need as condiment to accentuate the flavor, not to kill it or transform it!

Spoken like a true Western European :p and thanks for the compliments /XX/, as always, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Buy me a ticket to Spain and I will buy you a drink! hahah

I wanted to believe there was no yuri in Tamako Market 2 as much as anyone, but I think this sequence was pretty unambiguous. I mean, look at the montage after Midori repeats (in Japanese) her grandfather's slogan "Everybody loves somebody."

Wouldn't it be awesome if this show actually had some kind of side commentary on homosexuality and lesbianism in Japan, and what it's like to come out and accept your feelings as a youngster? I would personally enjoy that a lot more than the pandering and dancing around the bush route. Though, I highly doubt this show will tackle any heavy topics like this. I think gender and orientation issues are still very important, so I do enjoy it when certain topics are given the right kind of attention and respect. However I am certainly not below male-oriented pandering either :p

Tried to watch some OreImo from where I dropped it. Lasted about 4 minutes, threw it away again.

Quite like the OP song though.

It's not really that bad - I actually enjoyed it a lot! I need to watch the last few BD released episodes though. Of course, it's not like the show was embarrassing because I already have no shame, but Kirino did test my patience several times. I don't get off on pure tsun girls, so when she wasn't busy diddling herself to imouto eroge I felt like strangling her.

Castle in the Sky (spoilers and such)

Y'all need to get away from your yuri and your girls doing cute things in high school once in a while and watch beautiful stuff like this.

Yeah, I plan on rewatching Nausicaa again soon since it's been so long that I can hardly remember it. I recently watched Gunbuster for the first time and was absolutely astonished. That level of story telling and pure simplistic emotional appeal :< I feel like a lot of shows forget to be humble, and when I see them, all I see are big bloated egos (with low budgets). Gunbuster was humble, beautiful, and raw. It tore me up. Same goes for Escaflowne -- just exquisite, powerful, amazing stuff.

If the point of this is to convince people to pay for anime and not pirate it, I'm not sure what non-premium premium release gets you.

Maybe there's a level of anime fan between absolute weebs (where I am at I guess) and casuals that watched Nise on CR who don't care about Japanese features. That's a weird segment to aim for though.

Like, if they charged 99 or something, then at least it could be considered a "budget" release. This release feels like the anime equivalent of releasing a first person shooter the same day that Call of Duty comes out.

Aniplex pricing schemes have never made sense. You can't argue that they price things proportionally to their perceived ability to sell because Fate/Zero is arguably one of the most mainstream titles of the past few years and it also received the most insane pricing. You can't argue that they exclusively cater to 1% otaku because some of their releases are still at the highest high end of mass market and if you're discriminating about your anime purchases, things like the Oreimo DVDs, Blue Exorcist, Durarara, Meguca, etc. were "occasional splurge" range.

All you can argue with any certainty about them is that they have a base of buyers who consistently purchase from them and that they have no motivation to compete with the other NA licensors. They charge whatever their internal numbers or mandates from Aniplex Japan tell them to charge, and that's it. I'd guess their regular clientele mostly to be collectors and completionists who purchase releases simply because they exist, regardless of price. There are analogues in gaming like LE maniacs and JRPG guys who buy every single one but never actually unseal and play them, so I assume that they also exist for anime. When I still gamed I did the collector thing for a while and just ended up with a smaller bank account and a bunch of shit on my shelf that I'll never play, but when you're really into it and have the money, the allure of shelf porn and nerd credz can be pretty strong. Makes me wonder if a game company that charged $100+ for ultra-niche physical releases with super-low print runs could ever survive!

I would love for this to happen. It is almost certainly not what the show would be about but if someone makes this show I would spend crazy money on the blu rays :(

The joke here is this is the one moment where you don't need yuri goggles to see the shit. I mean really?

Really? Really? The fuck outta here.

I thought Tamako Market's OP hints the yuri love pretty well...

I'm sorry what?

So far this is a pretty standard fantasy/chuuni show, complete with self-glorifying characters, big amounts of exposition and world-building, and unnecessarily obscure jargon and engrish terminology. There's nothing special in the execution either.

It's quite fun to watch anyway, and it has that overpowered smug guy which at least gives it some shtick for now. I wonder if we're going to have a talented director or animator come in for an episode and improve the presentation a little bit.

OP is kind of nice, by the same guy who did the first NHK ED (and Pururin, lol). Also the endcard of this episode was by mebae.

Well I believe Wandering Son deals with gender identity and related issues, but I can't say much else since I haven't seen it yet. I heard it was good. You might wanna check it out just in case you haven't already!

To be fair, I bought it used while I was in Japan. Japanese used goods are infinitely better than American ones, they actually take care of their stuff! :O Bought for roughly $250
Yeah, it almost makes me want to forgo buying new when importing (I hope I didn't jinx myself).

Man... I forgot that Haruhi had a lot of pretty good music.

Of course, orchestration helps, but...
It's too bad they never released their version of this (spoilers).

Urgh why do I keep having the urge to finish OreImo

I mean I literally watched some this morning and felt somewhat naeseous, but every time my mind wanders I think "Maybe I should watch that series"

Just do it Jintor. And remember, if you ever get the urge to quit think of me, and my guiding light. Oreimo has no redeeming qualities, so just enjoy it and try not to think too much about your feels. Focus on Kuroneko and everything will be alright.

Also, it really helps to get drunk. But I say that for everything.

easy for you to say when you had yuri laser eye surgery already ....
It's just too subtle. i need more than this to accept any pairing as yuri

Well, it's not a pairing, because Tamako has no interest in reciprocating. Her only love is mochi.

Never even heard the name of it until tonight.

As someone already said, we're watching one episode of Wandering Son every Tuesday, so if you're interested, you should catch up and join in. Next week we'll be at episode 3.

It had a similar effect on me.

Even if I tell you that you're not missing anything that good by skipping it, you're going to watch more regardless.

What a show! Wish I read the LN's in the beginning but the long-ass name pushed me away. This show is now one of my mainstays for this season.

So, because of how broken the JP market is for media, I can almost understand 400 dollar F/Z boxes. They don't want to undercut themselves and blahblahblah.

It's this release in particular, which serves absolutely no purpose. The stupid thing is that I would probably be willing to pay OreImo prices if it came with the commentaries, but instead they are choosing to release a set that is priced high enough to remain close to JP prices (I presume) but low enough because it doesn't have the one feature that anyone would want.

The fact that they're in a position where they are just going to re-release shows for shiggles, I'm not even sure if there won't be a "real" Nisemonogatari set later down the line.

That said, their release strategy makes absolutely no sense... but at least they seem to be done with the single volume experiment now.

I thought Tamako Market's OP hints the yuri love pretty well...

Because of jman's departure, all I can think of is Toradora when I see that.

You mean 放浪息子.
Hey, you're quoting normally again.

Serious question. If you are quoting like techno, how do you quote images?

Those GIFS. Good lord. I was doing stuff with my father tonight so kind of left off the show halfway and I really should get some sleep. Will resume it tomorrow some time I guess, along with Chihayafuru and the next MMY.

Psycho-Pass 11:

If only the government hadn't taken away everyone's guns, we could have avoided this tragedy. THANKS, OBAMA

Psycho-Pass 12:

Wow, the new OP is really lazy and the new ED is one of the most visually-repugnant OP/EDs I've ever seen, period. I guess they stopped trying completely when the numbers came in and they knew they had the fujoshi yens already.

Anyway, what an odd choice of subject matter for the episode. Normally I'm all for characterization, but there are a limited number of episodes left and Yayoi has been such a non-character up to this point that unless this was her death flag or she's being promoted to actually doing stuff, it's a tangent that really adds nothing to the current escalating confrontation other than to momentarily reaffirm the "you only kill who the Sibyl system tells you to kill" stuff. Is that going to be a recurring theme now? Like, better late than never if this show is actually going to have something to say about its own world, but this was pretty weak.

Psycho-Pass 13:

lol what is going on with the ED? Settle on something already.

I was going to say that the first part with
the old MWPSB lady hinting at doing corrupt stuff to rid society of criminals who are invulnerable to Dominators
was pretty cool, but then
the scene at the end of the ED happened. The upper echelons of the NWPSB being in cahoots with Makishima
would officially put this show in actively stupid territory. fuck's sake

Rest of the episode was a thinly-veiled excuse to reuse animation for a minute or two, Hanazawa Kana making vomit noises, and more terrible dialogue infodump by other people on Akane's character. Everyone suuuuuure loves to discuss the fine nuances of her personality and values. Also, nice symmetrical eye scars, Akane:

kayos90

Tragic victim of fan death
Shinsekai Yori 16

It was a fairly redundant episode and felt pointless overall. However, I do think the last couple of minutes were very important. Other than that, looking forward to the next episode a lot.

Maybe i'll take this advice

Oh well, i only have like 6 episodes left + OVAs...
