That's strange, because my buddy list is maxed out, yet the majority are usually online, on my list. I once had 23 online playing a game.Z_Y said:I'd like to have your experiences with PSN but none of the 50 people (max) on my buddy list are ever on for me to play with. That and voice chat on UT3 is borked.

So I called three of my friends, goofed around for 15 minutes then wrote down their friend codes on a lightly used Taco Bell napkin, entered them into my Wii's address book, realized one of the codes was wrong, called my friend back and got the correct 16 digits, reentered it, still didn't work so I said fuck it, tried to send the photos but couldn't really figure it out, so we sent each other hilarious Miis of Hitler and Whoopi Goldberg.
Yeah...damn that Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection sure does suck.
Keep up the good work Nintendo.![]()

Noticed it had in-game XMB (which I mentioned in an earlier thread), which was a nice surprise. (Note - you have to delete the old demo from your HDD in order to successfully install this newer build)
Saw some friends log in to PSN from within Timeshift, so I jumped to XMB and invited them all to a Video Conference. After chatting and goofing around for 15 minutes or so, we decided we wanted to all get together and play something, so we decided on Burnout Paradise demo, which we had all downloaded already for free.
In less than 30 seconds, we were online in a 4 man group, burning through the streets of Paradise City trying to complete all the challenges and pulling off insane stunts and just plain having a lot of fun.
After we were finished about an hour later, I stuck in NHL 08 and played a couple quick Shootouts online, and finished things off with a game against a pleasant fellow I met in one of the lobbies.
All the while, in every game, voice chat worked flawlessly, I experienced no lag at any point during my entire time online, and I met some cool folks.
Yeah... damn that PSN, it sure does suck.

People who cry about the $50 are just pure Sony fanboy material. I mean come on, $50. That's the price of one game.

I take everything on XBL for granted seeing as I'm mainly a PC gamer.
It's ridiculous to charge for online gaming, voice chat, etc... and even Microsoft knows it since the silver account allows it on Games for Windows. But for some insane reason you guys are OK with it...
Exactly.rs7k said:Fuck principle, we're all hardcore gamers buying 1080p HDTVs and surround sound systems, along with launch PS3s, and you guys are crying at $50 every 365 days for a much better service?

It's not just that, but it's a matter of putting $50 initially for something. For some, why spend $50 on something you really don't use a lot, especially if you are tight on money a lot. Also, by the time you add in a few years of paying $50 a year, that really adds up.rs7k said:Fuck principle, we're all hardcore gamers buying 1080p HDTVs and surround sound systems, along with launch PS3s, and you guys are crying at $50 every 365 days for a much better service?

What a day that'll be.
But if I don't pay I can't play online. Which is fucking ridiculous. So yeah... they are forcing us to pay.Smokey Bones said:Then spend $8 a month for a one month card, or $20 for 3. Sure it's more money in the long run but if it's a mental thing to part with $50 then there are alternatives, but of course nobody thinks like that right?
If you can't afford $8 a month at least then why the fuck do you have a 360?

There is the "incubation" period where they have to generate some history before coming out with the marketing, but I think in this case the OP is either very naive, or deliberately obtuse ("It's ok to post negative opinions, but not positive ones!").viciouskillersquirrel said:![]()

I enjoy PSN, but when I switch over to my 360 I don't sit there and think why is this shit not free? No, I know I pay for it once a year and it is what it is and off to an online game I go.
Since you own a PC a lot of the games on 360 are on that system so why don't you play it on there if it bothers you THAT much.

I can see why the cash-strapped or those who don't see themselves fully utilizing the feature would prefer the PSN (hell of cos I'd rather have Live for free) but the fact of the matter remains that 50bucks isn't an exorbitant price to begin with. There will always be free alternatives to a product or service but that doesn't necessarily mean everything else out there is not worth the money being spent on.BoilersFan23 said:It's not just that, but it's a matter of putting $50 initially for something. I think it might have something to do with wanting to reclaim 'lost glory'. Consoles seem to spontaneously generate fanboys for a variety of reasons and when their console is on top, these fanboys are calm and see no need to troll or whine. After all, why evangelise when everyone else believes as you do?Draft said:He's not a shill. He's just a crazy person that really loves Sony.
I'll be honest, whatever Sony does to create the level of devotion and dare I say affection some of its fans demonstrate is incredible. Even Nintendo could learn a thing or two.
viciouskillersquirrel said:Xbox fans seem to be a different kettle of fish, however. There seem to be comparitively few few Xbox fans for whom their first console was the Xbox. Rather, many seem to be either PC gaming converts, refugee Sega fanboys or the hardcore who must own everything.

No, I don't think the devotion we see today was all that obvious prior to "Five Hundred and Ninety Nine US Dollars". It was only when it became obvious that Sony would not be market leader again that fanboys that were once dormant and pleasant suddenly felt the need to 'spread the word' about their console and become vehement apologists. The fact that the irrational ones are the ones that are most likely to do this only makes things worse.
The same thing happened to Nintendo fans during the N64 generation. And so, same process that created Gahiggidy has produced Tabris. I think though, that childhood memories are definitely a factor.
Xbox fans seem to be a different kettle of fish, however. There seem to be comparitively few few Xbox fans for whom their first console was the Xbox. Rather, many seem to be either PC gaming converts, refugee Sega fanboys or the hardcore who must own everything.
