Worst Female Character Design in Gaming?

Switch Back 9

a lot of my threads involve me fucking up somehow. Perhaps I'm a moron?
Japanese games except for Souls the thread.

Seriously, 99% of JRPG/Anime designs are fucking awful.

Oh man. I LOVE this design. I never played that Prince of Persia game, but that girl looks both super-hot and badass to me. I even like the short hair.
When it comes to female character designs that I dislike, there are many that I find very unattractive or plain boring, but Makoto from Street Fighter 3 is probably my best example. She has giant feet, nothing visibly feminine going for her and she looks too similar to the king of vanilla character design (Ryu).
I do concede her ball-punch Ultra attack in SF4 was pretty funny.

I really dislike Zarya from Overwatch too. I like her face and her gun, but her super-muscular body is something I'd rather not see.
Jesus christ....it's almost like women aren't just objects to be oogled at?

this has to be a glitch/gag mod, right?

The size is a glitch, but Mortal Kombat X is the first NRS game in their entire history with a decent, feminine face that isn't covered by a mask (Kitana literally has Johnny Cage's jawline in MK9 for her maskless costume) or Mileena (Who is half-Tarkartan & therefore has a toothy, non-human jawline). And even then, it was hit or miss until Injustice 2. Which also looked rough at first.

Here's Kitana's face from MK9, & a quickfix mod a fan did to make it actually look like a female. The sexualized examples are worse for additional reasons, but NRS are just as guilty as apparently not knowing how to even make a feminine face...

And then they sexualize the characters. Sonya's bulletproof vest that only covers her nipples was bad, but here's my contender: Mileena wearing literally 1 bandage.

Hardest thing to unlock in the game, too. The mouth's somewhat-justified since

you just made it seem like her design is ubiquitous and I wanted to know the games

and I already got Lost Legacy preordered
Oooh, I see. I never meant it by that, I'm just calling her design as boring as the usual bland male characters you see in typical AAA games.
I'm all for more realistic looking female characters, but Reboot Lara is completely lacking in anything interesting outside of her being realistic IMO.

You could say blame the audience rather than the creators but I think it's no coincidence that by far the two most popular characters in the series happen to be the two that look 14
Wait there's more than one character in that game that doesn't have absurdly sized tits??

Dragons crown.

Really any of the female characters.
Elf is awesome. I liked the Amazon and Sorceress because they were parodies of stereotypical fantasy female characters. Amazon is basically an exaggerated Frank Frazetta warrior woman and Sorceress an exaggeration of the typical sexy sorceress archetype.

I'll go with a controversial one here:

I've loved basically every Zelda design ever but this one is way over-busy, too shiny, and her face is bland, gormless and absolutely massive compared to her head. Most of the 'real' Zeldas have personality that comes through in their design. This one is just a random anime girl. Not a fan.

Quiet looks fucking awesome. Kind of a lame character though.

Any who, Maria from Castlevania Judgment is so real shit.

The pink and white striped... undersocks? (the fuck is that even, seriously) tricked me into thinking her thighs just kind of ballooned out to a ridiculous size for her frame. Like, for a long time that's how I read that design.
The more I look at this the more I come to hate over-ornamention that's common in a lot of designs. She's got on some ugly, oversized boots, some pink nylons that are held up with both belts and a garter because she couldn't find a size to accommodate both her slim calves and her lacy thigh funnels, and then the aforementioned thigh funnels. Like someone else said if you scroll down slowly it's a cute design until you get to the bottom of the corset.

Also that staff is animal cruelty. :(

we can never be friends

Farmel from Wild Arms IV.

A stocking suspender and daisy dukes do not belong together, even if you're going for the sexy secretary look in a Wild West setting. The duster that entirely misses the bottom half of the front and has a cleavage window is quite a thing as well. The random bits of plate armor are almost inoffensive in comparison.

Ohh I never saw this one. It's like Tetsuya Nomura fused with a Korean deviantArt artist and took some viagra before drawing his design >_<

Fucking Raiata man

Gonna leave it as a link cuz NSFW.

Huh? Worst pick in this thread. Makoto is great.

I think there is a double standard going on when posters pick Quiet from Mgs5 as an example of bad character design. If anything, I would argue her design makes the most logical sense. Why isn't there more outrage when Raven from mgs1 was shirtless in a snow environment? That makes as much sense as wearing layers in a desert environment.

The faux outrage isn't entirely irrational, just very selective.

I mean, you can argue it all you want, but your are objectively wrong.
People who live in the desert actually DO wear layers of protection. Quiet would be dead or incapacitated pretty quickly wearing her ridiculous outfit in a desert environment.

Maybe consider the possibility that the faux outrage is your own concern over a nonexistent double standard.

I'll root for the Dragon's Crown designs as well. The entire game has a very exaggerated look, and the Sorceress and Amazon, while both very sexualized, have completely different proportions and convey different themes. All three main female characters have completely unique silhouettes.

Velvet from Tales of Berseria has a very ugly and busy design and it makes me sad every day :((((

There's a reason why her outfit is in tatters - it's pieced together from scraps she found in prison, optimised for "ease of movement". Sure. Nothing says easy to move in like nine belts, no breast support and torn booty shorts. She's just fine as a character and many of her alt costumes look downright nice so it's a big darn shame.
Again with the fucking mismatched boots.

That statement isn't really controversial, actually it describes a lot of the issues I have with the designs of Hyrule Warriors in general, a case study in another team of designers missing what makes the originals so good.

I know it's not the worst (that'd go to some of the creepy anime shit posted in this thread already), but tbh I really hate the design of the main female character (and the rest of the cast that I've seen so far) in Nier: Automata. I just think it looks really dumb.

Hate to break it to you buddy, but there can be multiple different types of 'feminine' faces...

ohhhh yeah, eiko is actually so bad, god damn

i vote for that, i literally had to cut that image out of my strategy guide as a kid so i could still read it at school because even when i was 10 years old it was cringe inducing

I just reclass her to Wyvern Lord. Problem solved.

As for character... eh... Of all the royals, she is my least favorite. She basically only exists to have Corrin around her.

I thought it was funny. Especially the support convos between her and Corrin haha. But I understand why it would bother others.

Honestly went over my head for years until someone pointed it out a little while ago.

Eh, I like 2B's design. A2 on the other hand I'm surprised no one has brought up yet.
