Please read before posting. Macbooks are now Macbook Pros. That means LED display, backlit keyboard, 7 hour battery life, firewire 800, faster cpu.

For $100 less.

It's all in the name. The low-end MacBook Pro is $100 cheaper than the MacBook was and is substantially better.

Pro-quality screen (the old MacBook screens were fucking awful), backlit keyboard, SD card slot, Firewire port, 7 hour battery, 8 GB of RAM possible.
 
I'm not too bothered about iPhone 3GS. A few nice features, but I pretty much agree with the post saying that it's like DS Lite -> DSi, and I'll take the upgrade if I can get it cheap/free when my 3G contract is up in January.

I'll be preordering Snow Leopard as soon as that's available. Great price for an upgrade and I think there's more than enough in there to justify $30.

If by that you mean improving it in various ways and making it cheaper, yes they took a really big shit on it.
 
One last question, can we expect the touches to ship with 3.0 in the next week or two when it comes out or ? I wouldn't mind waiting a week or two if it meant I didn't have to pay for the upgrade on my free ipod touch.

"safari 4 final release is out today, June 8. download it.

some notes.

Tabs on Top is fucking GONE. that's a big one. I guess that UI experiment didn't work out. I see no option to bring it back in preferences and the images on the apple site all show tabs on bottom

the spinning wheel loading icon is now a button that shows the stop "X" plus the spinner in one within the address bar. so there's a clear place to click to stop loading. I talked about that before in this thread and it looks like apple got enough feedback to change it.

really large animated gifs still crash safari for me (it freezes so long that I force quit.) an example? go to page 3 of the e3 gifs thread and watch the 3 lord of the rings gifs. if they don't crash your mac, tell me you’re using an octo-core mac pro or something.

I might be crazy but it seems even faster than the beta... probably just a placebo effect."

Those prices are for new customers or those that can upgrade, its something like $499, $599 and $699 if you are already a ATT customer thats not available for an upgrade.

good point...ill be selling my Touch anyway though, i wonder if resell value will be lower without 3.0. probably not if i sell it right away
 
Odd. Just got my confirmation e-mail, and whereas throughout the ordering process shipping was marked for "Delivery by June 19," it now says "Ships June 19, Delivers June 24."

Still free and all, but I would've ate an extra 10 bucks to get it eariler. Unless this is just a mistake in the system, since same-day delivery for free is a special case for those who reserve?

He said the "upgrade prices" were insane. Is it really that shocking that the out of contract prices are very high? That's standard in the cell industry (at least in the US).

I know what you mean, but the DSi is probably a bad analogy here. I mean, it brought new formfactor, new internals, bigger screen, SD support...hell, it was like the 2G-3G jump.

This is more like the PSP-1K->2K upgrade. Sort of. Maybe not. Dammit! :lol

Looks like I can pay $499 if I want to upgrade to the 32GB 3G S, and apparently I'm eligible for a standard upgrade on 4/18/2010. No thx.

I give 'em two months before the initial rush dies down, the competition gets their new phones out and about, and AT&T starts shortening these upgrade cycles. I'll probably hit the 32GB for $300.

At that point I'd just wait until next years WWDC for the yearly refresh - which might be (needs to be?) more substantial than what was done this year.

Exactly. My pre cost 199 and i am pretty much set on returning it next week in anticipation for a Iphone that has the same memory, more apps, more features and 100 dollars cheaper. I really really wanted the pre to be awesome too. I still like the OS design and lay out better though, but not enough to keep me from moving.

Front facing camera for video chat is really the only major hardware feature that I can think of that could really be added at this point. OLED will be nice and will help with battery life, but that's more of a tech-nerd feature to get excited about. Storage capacity and processor speeds will continue to be bumped with each revision, but I don't see hardware really changing all that much going forward.

Software is really the whole thing going forward from here, and with Apple's 50,000 app App Store, they are looking really nice right now. It also looks very interesting what they are doing with the ability to sync with 3rd party hardware either through the dock connector or bluetooth.

Is Snow Leopard really only $30? If so, I think it's the first time I'll buy an OSX upgrade. I have a Macbook on Tiger and a G4 iMac on Panther. Does Snow Leopard even work on a G4?

It's only $30 if you already have Leopard.

Snow Leopard only runs on Intel Macs.

Need an Intel Based Mac, but my question is, can you go Tiger -> Snow Leopard or do you have to go Tiger -> Leopard -> Snow Leopard?

I'm trying to work out how the new prices for the 3GS compared to existing prices of 3G models. is there a price hike in there?

It used to be 199/299 for 8/16, at least in the US...

Old 16 GB was $299.

For $299, you now get 32 GB plus the better camera w/ video and faster processor/more RAM.

OK, I'm a liar and I totally just ordered a 32GB phone in black. T_T

If Apple can actually deliver it on the 19th, I'll be super happy. I can't face my OG iPhone right now, I have utterly betrayed it. I'll just give it to my dad or something.
 
As an owner of an aluminum 13' macbook, I'm pretty pissed right about now.

So my model is $100 less now, and adds:

- higher clockspeed
- much better screen (60% more gamut, I'm assuming same as pro screens)
- LED keyboard
- firewire 800
- SD slot (this is huge for me, and shocking coming from apple)
- 7 hr battery

Yeah, this kind of sucks for me.
