I think that needs to be added to the standard smile and laugh emoticons on Gaf.

Well, I just ran all three Monolingual tasks.

Languages: Saved 350MB (I ran it a few times already. This is new languages that were added back in probably by updates to iTunes, QuickTime, etc that all happened recently.)
Keyboard Layouts: Saved about 50MB. (First time running it.)
Architectures: Saved 7.8GB! (Or so it says. That doesn't seem right. My HD free space didn't go down at all. Compared to the clone I made at noon, I only saved about 2GB all together. So I don't know where the 7.8GB came from.)

I dunno. That 7.8 doesn't look right.

Okay. Comparing my Applications folder on both my HD and my clone:

Address Book: .6MB
Adium: 11MB (!!)
Photoshop CS3: 180MB (HOLY SHIT!)
Carbon Copy Cloner: 1.1MB
DragThing: 4MB
FireFox 3.5B4: 22MB (!!!)
Garage Band: 40MB (!!)
Garmin Tools: 55MB (All together for all three)
Hulu Desktop: 1MB
iCal: 5MB
iChat: 5MB
iMovie: 54MB (!!!)
iPhoto: 113MB (!!!!)
iSync: 7MB
iTunes: 101MB (!!!!!)
Mail: 3MB
Movist: 5MB (Half)
Safari: 1MB
TextWrangler: 9MB
Transmission: 1MB
Transmit: 4MB
WebKit Nightly: 39MB (Almost half)
Utilities Folder: 112MB (Overall, that's half the entire size.)

Overall, I saved 1.12GB in the Applications folder istelf. I'm amazed at the iTunes savings. How could the PPC binary be that much larger? Something seems fishy. That's like 80% savings in iTunes alone!? And PhotoShop CS3 STILL RUNS! Even after I deleted the Bridge and other useless apps it installed and removed its PPC binary. Wow... I hope this stays like that.

I'd say overall I just saved 1.8GB total by running Monolingual. (Unless that 7.8GB was right but I don't know where else.... wait... a minute..

Yep.. the 7.8GB was a mistake. For some reason it got confused and the Finder thought its System folder was 448MB. Which was too good to be true.

But I did save quite a bit. Another 1.5GB in just the Developer folder and about 500 in the main Library. Maybe about 150 or so in the System folder. And the computer rebooted fine! Everything still works. Wow. Niiiice.

So, somebody just sent me a text saying ineligible upgrading is $700. That true?

I mean, I've seen the $500 price tag, but the text said more fees are involved. AT&T and the Apple website are both screwing me and I can't log in to an account to verify because technically I'm on my dad's plan and I don't have his SS.

Did anyone preorder an iPhone and get any kind of confirmation email? All I have is the last page on the site, but that doesn't have any specific confirmation other than saying to show up at the store I reserved at. It's probably fine, but confirmation is always good, especially since I had to restart a couple times since the site was getting hammered.

I sent the emoticon screenshot to my girlfriend, who's also on AT&T, and asked her, what's wrong with this picture? And her answer was: "full bars".

I just asked the same question a few posts up. So at least I'm not alone. Maybe we'll get an email later?

is MobileGAF on the app store?

Not yet. I'm going to see how much I can cram into it over the next few days and then resubmit it for review with a 17+ rating.

It'll release with the 3.0 OS at the earliest, and because 2.x doesn't support parental controls, it seems likely (and unfortunate) that MobileGAF will probably require 3.0 be installed to download it from iTunes.

$99? nuh uh. It's just $1 if you go to the right place and share a developer's account (you're allowed to authorize a couple of phones on an account)

Emoticons or whatever they're called are included built-in now (from the globe icon on the keyboard).
thats weird i have 3.0 and i dont have the globe icon

It's keyboard dependent I think. Try opening up a sms text message and see if you get a globe.

Edit- Oh ya also go into your Settings, General, Keyboard and go down to Japanese and turn on Emoji.

Okay, I just bought my macbook pro with a free ipod touch and $100 student rebate (thank god for students!)

Time to look at the specs!

Is there a list anywhere? Wondering if o2 in the UK do it.

FUCK IT I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!

How much to buy out a verizon plan? I'm on a family plan with my mom that we've had for years.

The iphone, after my discount from school, will only be a few bucks more a month.

Why not just ask verizon?

Yes. Quicktime X will have hardware decoding anyway so it's fine for the future.

Awesome, can't wait to get my macbook then.

Be wary of Xslimmer. We have users at work that run it and find a lot of their apps break/don't update properly.

@ The GreatDave.

I got confused with multiple posts about release dates and tethering.
O2 is doing tethering

If you need testers, I'm downloading the 3.0 SDK & 3.0 Firmware now & should have everything set up by tonight

It all varies. Depends on how ineligible you are. If you purchased one last week, you're screwed. If you are like a month out - you end up paying about $100-200 more.

Is anyone offering a downloadable version of the keynote? I really, really want to see what's up, but I don't want to go through all of the pages in this thread and Apple's iTunes keynote feed isn't updating anything yet. Ugh.

Also... the new 13" Macbook Pro... are the specs inline with the old Macbook unibody? Is it a great deal, or what? I don't remember the old specs at all.

It's a slight bump from what I remember... I think processor was 2.0ghz, non built in battery, etc. I think it was ddr3 ram before though...

Edit 2: http://guides.macrumors.com/MacBook That shows the revisions...
