WWE releases a number of stars

Barrett hasn't been able to stay healthy. Every time he started to get a push, he'd get injured. That's not on the WWE, it's just an unfortunate truth. Glad he was able to leave on his own terms, but his mediocre run isn't really fair to pin on the WWE.

Sandow was going nowhere. They didn't do him any favors by failing to capitalize on the crowd reaction to his sidekick gimmick but even once that was over, he never seemed to be able to grab the crowd's attention without siphoning off someone else (hence his impression gimmick). It's a shame, because he's clearly talented, just was never able to put it all together. He'll find a decent landing spot in Japan or the indies.

The rest are pretty sensible departures. With the influx of new talent, it doesn't make sense to keep people on the payroll who aren't part of plans moving forward -- and I'm glad we're finally past the sideshow era of Hornswoggle and the like.

As someone who only casually follows wrestling, what was the Cena/Riley thing and why does it make Cena look shitty? I thought Cena was generally considered to be one of the nicest dudes in the biz, being the guy who always does Make a Wish and all that.

All you need to know is John Cena is the wrestling fans' devil.

He "berries" everyone he wrestles and won't turn bad because fans want it. And if he has a confrontation or whatever, and no one knows the circumstances around it, it's his fault.

Did they?

I thought the whole issue with the Bucks was that "disrespect" thing or some other bullshit.

I haven't been following a lot of backstage/dirtsheets type stuff in awhile, go easy on me.

That was years ago.

WWE has tried to talk to them since then but they are making way more money on the indies right now then what WWE offered.

I am sure they will get to WWE eventually but right now I think its great they are doing so well elsewhere

You want proof that the Usos will never get released, because they are related to the Rock, thats what you want?

I just want to be clear, because if thats what you are asking for, then I can let this conversation go and move on.

What other phenomenons shall I debunk for you. Would you like proof of global warming sir?
Yes, I want(ed) proof for your ridiculous claim, like I've been asking for. I already knew that I wouldn't get an answer though, because you never have anything to back up your claims.

No, I'm saying I want them to wrestle each other.

I know, uce.

I'm hoping the Usos remain hot and relevant enough to make sure the Young Bucks remain a luxury expense and not a need for WWE, not so much for love of the Usos as hate for

They got an offer for NXT that was a significant pay cut to what they make on the indies apparently.

Gotcha.

Man, I'm behind. Now that I'm actually somewhat invested in the product, I should get back into the behind the scenes stuff again.

Well maybe it can happen in the indies! But I don't really care to see the Usos out of a job particularly. They never got old for me. So sure, I'll go with that.

Maybe you shouldn't. I'm not convinced it's helpful. It's hard to resist though!

The only star released so far is El Torito. Barret quit so he doesn't count, I hope he goes to Japan. They wasted around 15 years on Sandow.

Great moves by WWE which is something I can't say often.

Lots of other wrestlers they should release but their time will come.

It's too bad WWE basically took over the indy's with NXT and there's nowhere for these guys to go but at the same time, they're pretty terrible so it could be a good thing.

Santino "wrestling" is the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. The fact that he made money off it is fucking mind blowing.

Anthony Carelli was actually a really good technical wrestler and ring worker. Santino Marella was a character.

Really, really hoping Stu "Bad News" Bennet goes to Bellator, especially with the promotion's focus on British talent, like Liam McGreery and Michael Venom Page.

Roman av so this is not surprising that you don't recognize the greatness that is the Young Bucks.

If they sign and the Adam Cole rumors are true, we can have a reunion of the greatest faction of all time.

The Young Bucks stacked on top of each other are barely your size.

I feel Zeb could at least been more of a backstage, dunno why they dropped him. Everyone else, yeah, WWE fucked them up and couldn't recover.

Sandow deserved better. Who the heck did he piss off backstage for him to be buried so badly after everyone in the crowd seemed to love him?

My fondest Sandow memory is how after he won MITB they had him face Cena with the stipulation that Cena would have one hand tied behind his back, Sandow lost in convincing fashion.

I worked on the THQ WWE games awhile back and I had to be his handler for several hours on a few days to make sure he was taken care of, got to his appointments, etc. He was one of the easier to get along with WWE talent I met, quiet and kept to himself while others like Harry Smith, Tyson Kidd, Shad, Hornswaggle, Nattie all socialized together. Kelly Kelly was standoffish, didn't like the media or fan appearances, wanted to leave early, etc.

Not surprising that Kelly Kelly is as terrible outside the ring as she is inside it.

He got over when he wasn't supposed to and didn't learn from Zack Ryder's example to dial it back and be happy as enhancement talent without complaining about it.

Bad news Barrett is gone :(

and of course they got rid of a black female wrestler. :/

She's had like five years and was never even serviceable in the ring and now with the influx of more women who are athletic and want to first and foremost be wrestlers the talent bar is raising to where she is made even more irrelevant than she already was. Besides, they have a much, much, much, much better woman who happens to be black finally debuting on NXT next week.

Was Sandow any good in the ring? I've never seen a match that he showed something beside the usual 3-4 trademark moves.

Does this mean Booker T was let go as well??

He can do indie stuff as long as it doesn't compete directly with WWE. I believe he even still has his own promotion.

Fun fact: Jerry Lawler also wrestles regularly, even though he's portrayed as a long-retired wrestler on WWE TV.

I remember that vignette. I was kind of disappointed when they made him a comedy character and never really let him transition away from it.

The perfect time to reintroduce Boris would've been during a short storyline when Santino bonked his head. They had him have amnesia for a minute (IIRC), but they didn't really do anything with it. A Fred Flintstone-type of deal where Santino becomes someone else would've been great.

I thought he quit after his heart attack?

Google tells me she had a few dark matches in NXT already. Her proper debut would be fun to watch.

Yeah she's been doing NXT live events for like seven months, it was originally thought she was debuting last November but it ended up being a dark match. I hope they either have had her stop using the O-Face as a regular finish or reduce its frequency of use and protect the hell out of it for her to pull it out at big shows.

I think that was his last match in WWE. I remember he had a match with Kevin Owens (then Steen) right before Kevin got signed on to WWE.

Lawler, Flair, Funk... they'll never get it out of them. They just love it so much.
