XBL Activity for Week of Nov 24--WTF

Wow, this is unexpected :lol
Me and and about 12 friends or so all bought GoW 2, and all but me and one other guy were hardcore GoW 1 online fans. I never played the first one much online, but I'm pretty tired of Halo and the upcoming map bullshit pisses me off, so I was totally planning to make GoW 2 my mainstay online game. Instead the online is totally fucking broken, and except for 2 guys everyone has completely dropped the game. My one friend who was probably the second most "hardcore" GoW fan is especially pissed, since the online patch they released a week or so ago actually completely BROKE the game for him; he literally cannot play matchmaking, it never finds a match for him no matter the configuration of players/etc. So ironically about half of us have switch over to L4D (which after the fact is actually much better and blows me away), and the others are spread out right now over Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, and SF2HD.
But even all that aside, I'm still completely shocked that Gears still isn't #1. Especially since with the Halo 3 numbers they've already said they don't count guest players in the Live rankings, so that's even more impressive. Also very glad to see L4D up there, although I wish it was still higher

Going by the thread title I was thinking gears 2 had been knocked down to 3rd or 4th, but well done halo 3!

It is the netcode. It is the only thing "wrong" with GeOW 2. I hope that this doesn't go unnoticed, and EPIC realizes they have a great game in their hands, but their netcode isn't cutting it. Also, many things make me happy. I am a happy person.NullPointer said:

And they need to fix some of the game-play mechanics (players spamming smoke grenades left and right and giving you no time to stand up, more of making the blast radius for knockdowns smaller) Also I am happy with you. (about Halo 3 being number 1) and L4D for being on the list.
The only thing keeping Gears 2 in that spot is the campaign and horde mode. Once those modes die off after Christmas it should settle into more of a 3 to 4 spot. I called this in the Gears 2 thread and got laughed at, it's only going to get worse. That games online competitive multi belongs below Halo and both COD games, give it time. It's not just the netcode holding it back, plenty of people are bitching about the gameplay obviously.

whats even worst they have been closing thread all day today regarding there number 2 spot lol! EPIC is devastated and ShellShocked, the franchise didnt even get the chance to become stale for all these radical changes to be even made. i "had" over 30 friends playing this on Day 1....now on 4-5 people are unhappily playing its garbage multiplayer.
its not just the ridiculous lag and matchmaking, its how the simple gameplay methods which Gears 1 had which is killing it for the majority. the intense firefights and team strategies have now change the whole feel of Gears of War, now picking up power weapons is just a matter of spamming smokes until everyone is knocked down (Gridlock) then its just a matter of blowing everyone away with the boom it requires no skill or hardly any deep team strategies.
The amount of Great post and constructive critsim post they have deleted is getting beyond ridiculous, on top of that the 99% of the posts/replys were all sensible with no flamming at all only for the forum admins to close it yet again.

I never was much into Gears multiplayer, but the game has only been out for a few weeks- it's a little early for doom and gloom isn't it? There will be more patches to smooth things out in the times ahead.

Gears 2 MP was just patched so hopefully people come back to try it again, Like many others i hopped onto the L4D train of zombie killing awesome so i had to drop Gears 2 for now.

Anyways, glad to see Halo 3 is still on top...even as a PC gamer, I think it's easily the best online competitive shooter on the 360. Left 4 Dead is fun and I love it, but I don't think it has the longevity that most online games do.

I'm actually a little surprised that Left 4 Dead made it to #7 considering how the PC enthusiasts look at the xbox version as a lowly bastard child. It's pretty awesome to see such a great game get that high considering the lack of marketing and short term demo. I think the game will grow the userbase through word of mouth among friends. It wouldn't surprise me to see the game stay in the bottom half of the top 10 for a while. It's certianly a well crafted experience.

People have their preferences, it's as simple as that. I vastly prefer CoD4's gameplay over H3. But I can do well enough in both games, you can even see my stats for that.
