Xbox Fitness - Getting GAF off its butt

Been updating the OP as I'm sitting in class (yes it's that boring)... be gentle, this is my first thread ever!

I am interested in this -- not enough to stop my gym membership or to get an Xbox1, but still interested. I'd definitely want to see previews and the like.

I think this, if MS pushes it correctly, can lead to great sales for the console. You have until Jan 2015 with Gold right? I want an Xbox One just for this... help me gaf!

And for games too, obviously, there just aren't games out right now that I'm really interested in.

Only two P90X videos (Plyo X, Shoulders & Arms)
Only one Insanity video (Plyo cardio circuit)
No Focus T25

More of a sample than a fully featured product imo.
Still plenty of good free content here, but don't expect to be following a P90X or Insanity two month calendar program.

That's kind of disappointing. Was looking forward to fully featured plans.

That is a let down. But there's a bunch of other content in there, right? It would be bad if this was a sub service with only demo-level shit and limited content.

As far as I know the videos that are there are the full versions. I was just disappointed at the low total number. I thought we were getting all of P90X and all of Insanity.
I'll knock over Insanity Plyo Cardio later to know for sure.

Is it possible that they are developing the integration with the rest of the routines?

I'm looking forward to this. I always planned to get it after I saw the insanity demo but the seemingly poor reviews of Ryse and Crimson Dragon mean there's absolutely nothing I plan to play of my Day One Xbox One till Halo 5. If kinect is as good as everybody says it is for biometrics, I could see this being a killer app and really popular in gyms etc. In my gym at work, they still use Wii Fit extensively. Only thing on the Xbox One I'm truly hyped for. I did get Zoo Tycoon just for the sake of it but I'm locked into my PS4 for all multiplats and wont be paying for XBLG on top of PS+. This will be its raison d'etre till then.

Every time I see Shaun, it cracks me up that my boy from college is doing all of these big things.. Rowan represent !

I wasn't expecting anything to be released till the end of next month. Maybe this is just like a sampler.

I'm doing a direct-feed livestream as a test to see how Xbox Fitness works if anyone wants to check it out and see for themselves. I'll be able to answer questions on the stream after a workout.

Edit: Had some connection issues at first with Xbox Live, but managed to get it working well enough. Pretty cool! I would prefer to download workouts instead of streaming, though.

Here's the first workout I did. I unlocked some achievements during it. Definitely a good motivator! Also, my form sucks.

It's been awhile since I worked out... I started with the beachbody 10 minute cardio... eek I'm out of shape, will spend awhile with that getting my legs back under me.

Definitely. It's also a start - it's not always a good idea to try to change your whole life at once.

Exactly, I changed my diet a few weeks ago and I'm down over 10 lbs. Once I got a handle on that now it's time for me to put in a regular workout. It can be really hard, particularly if you used to be pretty athletic to start slow, but I've learned rushing into a workout routine is a good way to hurt myself.

Motto of the story is, take it slow and listen to your body!

I'm going the opposite. Haven't changed my diet yet, but I've been working out every day for almost three weeks now. Diet will start changing at one month of working out, so that I've made it a habit.

Did my first Xbox Fitness workout this morning, and it works extremely well. Also, Tony Horton may be Satan.

Horton may truly be what you say he is, but he gets it done. Improved a decent amount in round two. Once I five star each exercise in the same workout I'll move on to another one.

Anyone else having connection issues with this tonight? I got through half of my workout then it kept saying that Xbox Fitness cannot connect to the internet even though all other Xbox Live functionality was still working...

Thanks for the thread OP. Perhaps we should make this the OT - it's pretty much got enough there anyway.

I did one workout yesterday - 'twas fun for the first few minutes then I realised how unfit I was.

Does anyone know where to find the heart rate stuff?

Hopefully this gets ironed out. I did it about three hours before your post and everything was fine.

Absolutely in!

Would love to hear from Major Nelson or someone about if they are adding more free content later. Some of these videos are like $30, which I can't afford atm, but will start using as many of the free videos that will help me as I can.

Posted this over in the P90X thread earlier today before I saw this one:

Well, I can definitely recommend Xbox Fitness if you're into P90X. I did plyometrics this morning and I haven't felt this exhausted at the end of it in at least a couple of years. The score tracking and challenges definitely motivated me to keep up a quicker pace throughout the whole workout. The only thing that bummed me out is that the Kinect didn't pick up my movement of the leapfrog squats and I didn't earn any points on it. Not sure how fun it will be to use on the days involving pull-ups since I won't be on camera at all, but it's still a very well thought out application.

My gamertag is WhiteStocking78. I made my info public, so feel free to add me if you'd like. I pretty much plan on sticking to P90X and Insanity.
