That seems almost impossible for a company as big as microsoft to be vulnerable to a ddos.

xbox live seems to be down as well - I think the 360 doesnt use urls to access the servers. Could be some sort of multi-tier attack... or their servers crashed for whatever reason

It's not a DDoS. You would have heard about it or seen evidence. Their servers are just being swamped.

DDoS is the only logical explanation to what's happening. It could be Anonymous, they're most likely the ones that did this.

It's way past that now. And this is impacting much more than just Live. Outlook, Office 365 etc. all down. Major outage.
by what exactly? The amount of xbox ones out in the wild right now should still be pretty managable...

It can't last for 3 weeks. It can't even last for 6 hours. All these new consoles won't even boot if these servers aren't up to deliver the day 1 patch.
Didn't the same thing happen when the 360 launched, i swear it did. It will be pretty cringeworthy if its a certain fanbase doing the attack because didn't someone say that in another thread when they were discussing the Amazon Sony fans making loads of accounts to say that their Xbox is broken just because PS4 has had problems?.
