cancel all the pre-orders
Yes, thats how making games work
Gears 3 is locked 30 fps, Gow 3 is unlocked
That artwork shows what we have to expect (in terms of resolution)

For those saying "but but the order" if they didn't intend for it to have black bars why wouldn't they just upscale the image like every other "HD" game and why would they come out and tell us the resolution instead of fudge the numbers or not talk about it. Even the concept art has black bars. They even said they are willing to change it if enough fuss is made. So please stop and in the end it doesn't change the fact that we were told 1080P for Ryse and we get 900P.
OT or maybe on but the DF article after E3 is looking even more silly. Apparently they just took Microsoft's word when it came to resolution and frame rate just like they did for the Esram speed increase.
Hell, 900p would be acceptable if it were running at 60 FPS, but 900p30 is hilarious.
I think you're in the wrong thread...?

"Ryse looked great, but since I now know the resolution it doesn't look great anymore."
On-topic I've been saying for a while this generation would be 900p vs. 1080p for most multiplats, but I really thought we'd be getting 1080p for Ryse, They're building it as their graphical showpiece and the MS reps keep falling back onto it in interviews saying it stands up to anything on PS4 when being asked about the power differences. Surprised MS didn't actually step in and say drop the effects, give us 1080p because it's an easy ball for Sony to hit out of the park, it's a factual number where as the effects are all open to interpretation to an extent.
The character is rendered, right ?
Anyway, I am okay with this resolution, I actually love it.
i dont think many people will notice about "small" resolution differences, especially since it will be upscaled. surely this is the best way for x1 games to catch up to ps4 games.

It seems like a legitimate design decision to me, not to say rendering less pixels won't allow them to get more out of it graphically but they committed to 1920x800 early on not because they needed to reduce resolution.
Yeah I see, why would he do that -.-
From the EDGE article:
One basic example we were given suggested that without optimisation for either console, a platform-agnostic development build can run at around 30FPS in 1920×1080 on PS4, but itll run at 20-something FPS in 1600×900 on Xbox One.
Coincidence?

Does the upscaling diminish the finished product vs if it was native?
I wouldn't consider 44% more pixels a small difference. Especially not with the native resolution of most panels these days is 1080p.

According to Leadbetter, differences over 9,375% are significant, so yes.
It's a stupid design choice. I want a full image. While I like movies with black bars, this is a game, not a movie. It's important that I take in as much visual information as posssible!
Killzone is 1080p30 for single player and 1080p60 for MPquestion: have PS4 launch titles been confirmed to support 1080p natively or are we seeing concessions there as well?
lol, yeah.
I wonder what Cerny could have cooked up if he had an $800 BOM to play with like the PS3 guys did.

Knack is 1080p30
Drive club is 1080p30
Not sure about infamous second son, it's probably 1080p30.
Does 180pees make that much of a difference? I still game on a 32inch 720p TV, lol.
You're actually getting more information because of the aspect ratio.

I believe that Resogun is 1080p/60fps
Someone should start a comparison thread with confirmed resolutions. I would but I'm not as informed as some Gaffers and would cock it up![]()
I'd say 512 bit memory bus instead of 256.
It's called desperation.I don't get why are people discussing The Order in this thread.
That is not a feat when they have only fixed time of day and no weather changes. And as a bonus, they are trying to give us this shit and call it nextgen:

lol... who cares. It looks amazing and is 60fps, and the new physics engine is getting a lot of incredible praise. Who cares that the time of day is fixed, who cares that there's no weather changes?
Laguna Seca has a sand storm. That's some weather if it makes you feel any better.
A game that looks like Ryse at launch suggests it wasn't a waste. ESRAM isn't the bigger limitation imo, it's the GPU itself and Crytek's desire to make the game even prettier (no complaints from me), but once devs get better grips with the hardware, they will improve, as has always been the case on consoles. Look no further than the major titles that were sub 720p on the 360 at launch or earlier in the system's life, and then the much superior looking later versions that were native 720p.

Why do you think cinema wide is used still?

Are there even any GPUs with a 512bit GDDR5 interface? I'd guess that the necessary die size for such an interface would make the system more expensive than $800.
The Xbone can't even push ugly shit like Ryse at 1080p? Hardware is not Microsoft's strong suit.
Nvidia GTX 285 has 512Bit interface, but bandwidth is only 159GB/s.
Your going to be in for disappointment my friend, 30fps/60 fps is and always will be a design decision, A lot of games will continue to choose 30fps to push the eye candy.
I don't get why are people discussing The Order in this thread.
Wrong. This thread will be all fun and roses and will surely not exceed 20 pages. Surely, right?!

All PS4 exclusives are 1080p.
Only sub-1080p PS4 game is BF4 and the dev has said that things will change as they optimize the game.
Seems to be a problem with Xbone...
