SLI scaling is horrible. Any fix for that?
Edit: found it earlier in thread thanks
FYI, the workaround results in cover/shield icons not displaying, which is why it's not in the OP.

I had that happen when I set AA to FXAA. It went away when I bumped it up to MSAA2 (the highest I can go on that particular setting before my framerate takes a huge hit).
Wrong thread, but "gauss weapons" are just the sniper rifle/cannon for the magnetic tier, as far as I remember. Are gauss weapons straight upgrade from magnetic weapons? Haven't even build any magnetic weapons yet, and wondering if I should just skip them completely and go straight for gauss weapons which I'm already researching.
I still can't believe they even released the game in this state, is mind boggling, even worse is that no site is making a noise about this. For a PC only game you'd assume this would be better optimized.
Are there any comments by Firaxis on the performance issues and any pending patchrs? What about special nvidia drivers, any news?
Overall would you advise to wait before buying?

The game seems to work fine - relatively - for me, right up until it freezes (usually in one of the menus - such as character creation - or when trying to save a game).
After that the game completely black screens on startup - after all of the developer logos and before the main menu loads. The only way to fix it is to go through the whole Verify Integrity of Game Cache on Steam. Incredibly annoying. Might as well wait for a patch before even attempting to play it at this point.
Just a heads up I'm late here, but setting XCOM to high affinity in tsk manager gives me much more stable 60 frames on the Avenger, Geoscape and on Missions. Now playing with everything max but AA at FXAA, 1080p on a 980ti/i7 4790 combo
Hmm, that's curious.
Is there any in-game FPS display? I've just been using Fraps.
I just use Steam's fps counter.
Try these fixes.

My game is running at 1080p 60fps in-game, 30-40 in menus. I'm on a laptop, so this is about what I expected with my setup.
I've experienced, black screens, crashing at launch, crashing while promoting a solider. All of that is fixed now.
edit:
Verify Integrity does nothing for this game. I've ran it a dozen times, it always returns with errors, claims it fixes them etc...
What's the command for that?
From the client: Steam > Settings > In Game. Set FPS Counter from off to the corner of your choice.
Does no one in here remember that xcom ran like shit when it came out too? Still kinda does, haha.
why does vsync lock the framerate at 30 like half the time im playing?
sometimes it doesnt. sometimes it does.
I dont get it

I figured but even enabling Vsync through the control panel gives the same result
wtf
Yes that is also double buffered vsync
If you want triple buffered vsync enable borderless fullscreen
Does D3DOverrider work for triple buffered vsync or do you still need to make it border less windowed?
AFAIK it doesn't even work with 64bit applications, it hasn't been updated in years.
I have an i7 2600k at 4.2 GHz, 16GB RAM and my weak link, a 1.5GB 580 (I know) but I'm happy with the performance at 1920x1200 on medium.
A fairly long pause between XCOM and alien turns, though.
Beyond Earth was released in a pretty poor state, so this isnt the first time. Dunno of this is Firaxis or 2K causing the issue, but someone isn't doing their job. I guess using this Frankenstein version of UE3 doesn't help though.I still can't believe they even released the game in this state, is mind boggling, even worse is that no site is making a noise about this.
I haven't tested the actual frames but the difference between 2xMSAA & vsync and FSAA and no vsych feels like 25fps to 55fps and the image quality barely suffers at all...

They released the game like this after a delay. It's on Firaxis. It's also on all of the press that didn't mention it in the reviews.
should I even bother with an i5 2500k and a ati redeon 6970? Or should I just wait for a new rig?
