Yakuza 3 now official +pictures

WOW. First NG2, now Yakuza 3.

Chistmass or something?

Looks more like Way of the Samurai 3 TBH ;). I'm torn because both games are awesome but silently I wanted modern setting. But maybe this is for the better. Great gfx as far as I can tell.

Ah man, so many of the street screenshots are just pure RGG: the lights, the crowds and being the biggest goddamn badass in the whole city.

Same here...not sure why I prefer the modern feel in the Yakuza series more than the Edo period one. Thou I understand where the developers are coming from. But still hope that it will be a great game!

I am sure it will be an awesome game since it will be based on the series engine afterall and the graphics will be awesome too on the PS3 but like you guys I prefer the modern gangster setting and I have definitely lost all interest in this one. I have played enough samurai-theme 3D adventure games in my life that nothing with that theme can appeal to me anymore.

Anyway, the whole thing with this being a RGG sequel is like they make the next Star Wars movie, keep the name, but change the theme completely from intergalatic light saber fighting science fiction to medieval knights battling dragons with swords. It just feels really weird to a big RGG1+2 fan like me who spent a lot of time with those games trying to complete all the mini quests, get all the moves, etc etc and I already see some Japanese message board goers feel disappointed by this too

When they bring it over, if they don't keep the japanese audio... I'm going to have to choke some bitches.

What? You didn't enjoy hearing "motherfucker" said, shout, screamed and whispered in every possible way and tone, repeated 4 times in every sentence?

Shoteh fock op!

Now SEGA do this:

QFT. Maybe this game is the closes we will get to Vegabond for now. This game now entered my most wanted list :)

Perhaps we have a better chance of seeing Yakuza 2 show up in the west now that 3 is on the way. Good publicity, give the franchise a more prominent place in western gaming etc. Of course they could easily rebrand the third game when it releases over here and utterly ignore the second, but I live in hope. The original was fantastic if you could stomach the dub.

It would be cool if they pack in Yakuza 2, with Yakuza 3 for North America.

Yeah! Let's spend a bunch of money to dub and translate a HUGE game just to pack in as an extra! What a brilliant idea!!!!!!!

yeah, its funny, someone took down the quote on wikipedia, that Ryu Ga Gotoku2 would be coming to the US in late2007

...no hope indeed

Those scans make me want to try the series out, looks awesome.

I don't see why they couldn't just subtitle the second game.

they'd still have to fork out the money for the translation, pressing, localization, etc.

...and after Yakuza1 bombed, SegaUSA doesn't give a shit anymore, or at least someone at Sega who could give the go ahead for it

....I wonder how much budget they spent on the english dub for Yakuza1....and more importantly if they could have saved quite a bit of money if they didn't opt for an american cast/dub.....or least not a cast with "names"

They could just have one person doing the translation if they really wanted to, wouldn't be too much of money problem.

I'm pretty sure since Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan is not a direct sequel to the previous games and for the sake of starting with a clean slate if the game were to be localised, Sega of America will probably call this game something other than Yakuza.

This is a system seller for me. Loved Yakuza and this being based on Musashi and with Matsuda Shota and Tsukamoto Takeshi etc makes this even better. Hopefully Sega brings it to the US. Now they could have japanese va as an option with Blu-ray.

HOLY SHIT, best news ever! Please have english subs, please have english subs, please have english subs. I love me some kick ass Yakuza, and Miyamoto Musashi FTW!

LTTP: What is this game about? nice graphics but never heard this shit. how are the chicks? good fapping stuff?

Living up to your name, I see.

I'd buy the JP version itself just because of the actors behind the characters. A damn shame we never saw Yakuza 2.

I'm guessing this one will come out in EU and NA. Blu-Ray will be able to hold both voice audios and hey it's set on the past so no need to know what happened on 2.

Yeah what a great idea. Let's all start localization studios now, jesus it must be SO CHEAP AND EASY! :lol

Read the scans, suddenly out of nowhere this game has jumped to the top of my hyped games list. I really need to get my hands on the other two. Oh man, Spring 2008 cannot come soon enough.

GodStation 3 indeed, now get onto Shenmue 3 Suzuki, finish the fight!

But seriously, it looks amazing, it seems more Shenmuezied, it seems to be more serious than previous games, it's just ZOMG.

We have GTA IV, Mafia 2 and Yakuza 3, say WOW!

Read some more about it. It's basically my dream game. Realistic samurai fighting, great music, serious story. I wrote a big post some time ago with a dream list and it all comes true :O.

I'm not saying it would turn out well but there is no reason one person couldn't at least get it done for some lump sum.

japanese developers are back :)
Seriously, between the start of this gen up until now a lot of people (including myself at times) have been going, "Japanese developers are becoming irrelevant now, it's all about western devs this gen." Well it seems that while the west has been busy showing off the 133t technologies they've been making that's only possible on X hardware, Japan has been making games.

I never understood why Yakuza was successful and not Shenmue ! Anyway the serie was not that good, i just don't care about the third episode. I want Shenmue 3 !

PS3 got released. That's the first wave of real PS3 games, that use engines that were written for the hardware, and it shows.
