Just wanted to point out that according to the Famitsu article, Kiryu Kazumanosuke (:lol , but in a good way) and Miyamoto Musashi are one and the same person. There's only one hero.

With that said, DO. WANT.

Barring BH5, this is without a doubt the best-looking next-gen Japanese game. Nagoshi is quite simply teh man.

Wow, how did I miss that when they're going "THE MAN WITH TWO NAMES" and "Kiryuu Kazumanosuke....... this other name is........ Miyamoto Musashi"....

For some reason before you pointed that out I assumed they were talking about two people, and didn't read too closely. I BLAME THE AWESOMENESS OF THE GAME CONFUSING ME MIND!!!!! :D

speaking of Miike....so when will we ever be able to see the Ryu Ga Gotoku movie?

Well, Miike films generally hit stateside via one of several distributors (artsmagic, tokyo shock, animeigo, etc.) eventually, or otherwise in the UK via Tartan. May be a year or two unless sega distributes the film itself -- if that's even possible -- as they appear to be the distributor of the film in japan. Regardless, it'll just take time.

This looks awesome. Now if only Capcom would do Onimusha 5...

hm, i dunno about this miyamoto musashi angle -- perhaps because the version of his story in vagabond has already made such an impression on me

Quite true, though I am hoping to find a fan subbed version earlier.

that's an awesome list of actors, but man, what's a yakuza movie/game without Takeshi Kitano? :D

yakuza 3 will be awesome though, no doubt.

My guess as to why they went this road with number three is to give it more wide appeal in the rest of the world.
It will appeal to the fans of the first two, and those who are fans of J-crime drama but now it also has a chance to appeal to those who will just see it as "Hey...swords!" as bad as that may sound.
So I say it is probably a definite that we see it over here.

this looks a lot like how I wished Way of the Samurai on PS3 would be.

this looks awesome, and I actually recognize a few of the actors for it, one of them is awesome.

and is Ryu Ga Gotoku 2 ever comming to the US? ever?

I sure do prefer the modern settings, but Yakuza is Yakuza. This is great news! Can't wait.

Some of the cool things I see in the screens:
Arterial sprays.
Playing fetch with a dog.
Riding a horse.

Looks awesome, I cannot wait. :D

Needs NA release, Sega! PLEASE!

"Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball, and you join your mother... in death."

English translation confirmed.:D

I would've preferred a modern day tale but at least they're keeping the series fresh.

Unfortunately this game looks like it will stand apart from the previous two in the series thus negating the need for a western release of the second instalment.

Graphically it looks great but just serves to whet my appetite imagining what a next generation Shenmue would look like.

Seems this game will likely have very little resemblance to the traditional Musashi-sagas. Nagoshi states Musashi was chosen to depict dichotomies in the well-known samurai figure and the seedier Kiryu from the underworld. Its that contrast that Nagoshi was aiming for according to the interview (from the scan).

The translation is "Please kill Miyamoto Musashi", which is directed at Kiryu (who is in reality Miyamoto Musashi). The story starts from there. . .

The first one got meh reviews and looked bad to me in video. I couldn't find reviews of the second. What's the deal with this series? Should I be hyped for number 3?

EDIT: This is just my opinion...don't mean to offend anyone.

drohne, while Vagabond IS awesome, Musashi is kind of like the Japanese Robin Hood. There's a million stories about him, and there's certainly room for one more. (I mean, we got Brave Fencer Musashi, and that was cool...right?) Establishing Musashi as an assumed name of Kiryu Kazuma(nosuke) is pretty cheeky, tho!

Depends on your perspective. Both Yakuza 1 & 2 were fantastic IMHO, however, the games takes place in the Japanese underworld. Unless you are familiar with the nitelife in Japan; cabakuras, host/hostess bars, etc., many elements of the game may feel alien to the average Western gamer (which may account for the mixed reaction this game received).

It may be that by setting this game in samurai-era Japan, the game may have become slightly more accessible to Western gamers which are relatively better acquainted with the environment.

Dude, I knew it was a joke. Sorry if I responded seriously to your comedic moment. I just used your comment to address a topic relevant to the actual game.

My bad. It could be viewed as an obscure reference to some of the kids on the board and your response just seemed too straight laced to show that you got it.

If no one mentioned it yet, the girl is Haruka and the game is about how Kazuma(nosuke) Kiryu meets Haruka and the story begins....

So it's sorta a spiritual remake of RGG1/Yakuza1 with an original plot, 300 years in the past.

don't ask me -- i pretty much chucked that game once i'd played the ff8 demo. but what you're saying makes sense. and looking at the scans again and realizing that the monk with the staff must be inshun, i think i'm warming to the idea.

Nice. I loved the first one. Was the second game ever released in America? Any word on a US release of this?

the 2nd wasn't released in America, and Sega never annouced it. The main reason the first game didn't sell well, I can finally try the first game becuase it is $10.00. This might have a chance of coming to the states, then again SOA seems more interested in western developed games of late.

Thank you lord for making this game such a snap to import. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.

I think this is a definite lock for a US release (under a new title I imagine), being a fancy third party game that's on the PS3. Not too many of those yet.

Yakuza 2 will likely be stuck in Japan forever tho :(

Day1 import for me... just like Ryuga Gotoku2. While I didn't enjoy 2 as much as I have w/ 1st one - but this totally new 3rd installment with fresh characters and storyline will be quite awesome... days of Musashi and Kojiro, how can I miss this!!! :D

what is the slim chance that Sega is going to be cool and include english subs in the japanese version because it would be a cool thing to do and Sega wants to show people that they are actual cool?
