This is weird. I had been having trouble getting into PSN this entire week, and every time, my wireless controllers would not register with my system while it was down. The second I can log in again, though, the controllers work just fine.

Anyone ever experience this?

I know it sounds strange, and it is, but I swear it's true. For some reason, my controllers wireless abilities are connected to being logged into PSN. At least for the past week.
I too had controller pairing issues one day last week for the first time ever which magically disappeared the next day and I've had my PS3 since launch... that's eerie

I'm not logging in either. I did a search, and got the official word - that it's just maintenance - but I ain't buying that.

Either some goof-offs have hacked PSN again (I know Anon called off their DDoS protest, but...), someone accidentally broke something at PSN HQ, or the Portal 2 Steam integration was more taxing for the PSN servers than anyone had anticipated (which is unlikely).

Either way, I have Live now, so I'm OK. Come to think of it, you never see Live go down like this, at least not recently. Step your game up, Sony.

Glad to hear this, I thought something was personally wrong with my PS3 last night or that I had been banned for some unknown reason. I'll be waiting along with everybody else.

LOL i was just about to edit my post, replying with that...just remembered when that happened. but that is honestly the only time i can think of and it was ugly.

That was the only time the downtime was really bad on XBL. Since then, they have done a really good job of making sure its not too long.

I really can't remember any extended down time (other than the ApocalyPS3). This is not some regular occurrence.

I almost spew water on my monitor. I hope you're happy. Where's the LOL emoticon when you need it.

I was trying to play Bionic Commando Re-armed 2, but you can't play it offline - something I found out AFTER I bought it (though not today), and will be watching out for from now on. Screw you, Capcom.

Jeez, My problem was its just not auto signing me in, have to do it manually, I was here resetting my router, updating the firmware, checking connections, opening ports, always something wrong with psn nowadays.

This is also the only time i can remember that this has happend to PSN (been using it for about 3 years now) =) It might have happened before, but i can't remember it at least.

Yeah, when the DDoS attack was going on, then us.playstation.com didnt work. But now that website works fine, so i dont think that it is a DDoS attack this time.

the hackers are doing something right in their attacks

By forcibly disabling functionality of a console feature, with no regard for the end consumer. Sounds familiar somehow... where have I heard that one before... nope can't place it.

Just got back from holiday so have had no internet or PS3 for 7 days.

This is what I get!

At least Sonic generations cheered me up!

Might be tho.

As you are no doubt aware, the current emergency outage is continuing this afternoon and all Sony Online Network services remain unavailable. Our support teams are investigating the cause of the problem, including the possibility of targeted behaviour by an outside party. If the reported Network problems are indeed caused by such acts, we would like to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service.

Our engineers are continuing to work to restore and maintain the services, and we appreciate our customers’ continued support. For further information, please refer to updates on PlayStation.com, here on PlayStation.Blog and via our @PlayStationEU twitter feed.

Let's trust everything thing Anon says!

Oh I dont believe or trust them. I'm just pointing out that they are hypocrites.

They are starting a cyber war. And with all the companies they are going for, eventually they will probably ask for the governments assistance.

Rights and Freedoms my ass. They are helping the internet lock down.

The Anonymouse 'DDoS' attacks are not sophisticated programs or hacked code or anything like. It is literally as simple as getting 1000s of people to visit a site at (nearly) the exact same time when the site isn't expecting it, causing it to crash.

So unless the Anonymous community already owns a lot of PS3s, this definitely is not them :P

At first I thought there was just something wrong with my network, but I guess this is an issue with psn. Hackers need to get a life...

Glad to see it's not just me having problems. I thought my console was banned or something. Haven't logged in to PSN for days. Then I see this thread.

That sucks if it is an outside group attacking PSN. Now I can't enjoy any online gameplay because some people want to "make a point". Bullshit...

This isn't a DDoS attack on PSN.

Must be why I can't check my KZ2 profile.... At least I can still play online it seems.

I love how my brand new copy of SOCOM 4 is essentially a paperweight without the PSN on. Back to Gears of War 3 Beta I go I guess...
