Your "fuck this shit" gaming moments

This game. This fucking game right here is a thing of nightmares. Good thing the Master System controllers were like bricks because I threw them a lot because of this game.

Fuck you Stay Puft.

All that for a Diablo 3 death? Like really?

Just run that rift again brah

Lol probably one that wasn't mentioned before, but it's Crash Bash for me... Winning those relics is incredibly frustrating, most notably on Splash Dash...

Also Dragon God...Walked in...Died...never played again!

Far be it from me to say "git gud," but seriously, Dragon God is completely trivial if you spend even a modicum of time to observe his behavior. Ridiculously easy, even. He's a puzzle boss that has like one step to figure out.

Bravely Default. After the first few dungeons I got bored of tedious dungeons and grind fests and just hit up 'easy' for the rest of the game. Lame....but god that game really tests a player's patience.

You can adjust battle speed, difficulty, and encounter rate at will. Bravely Default addresses the common faults of a JRPG about as well as one can, so I'm not sure what you're expecting out of it.

Battlefield 4's incredibly questionable hit detection / hitboxes and object geometry / drawing.

I'm sniping more and more and sometimes shots are spot on and I can do a match with 30 kills and 2-3 deaths. Other times my shots appear spot on and nothing happens. If it's not that its having a rock or a piece of rubble with over drawn geometry; firing over it results in hitting an invisible un-rendered part of said object. I'm thinking the hit detection is a result of latency, ping, lag, and all the other elements involved with playing a game online, but the fucked up geometry is on their end.

This doesn't make me stop playing, but it's pretty upsetting sometimes...

Ninja Gaiden 2....

First Armadillo-Boss, I kept running away as fast as i could but the fucking explosion ALWAYS got me, then my brother told me that later in the game you fight 2 at the same time, then i turned that shit off... I loved NG1, but 2 was just bad!

Lol i was stuck there too. Funny thing is, you dont need to run. Just block and done.

My PS3 controller still rattles when you shake it from my time spend with Demon's Souls. I did eventually power through it, but I walked away from that game for weeks at a time. The entire time, all I could think was, "How did I play through those old NES games as a kid?"

Finished Arkham Knight with 96% when I realized that I need to get ALL the Riddler trophies in order to get the real ending.
Fuck this shit, fuck this game and fuck Rocksteady.

My wife pretty much did the same thing to my desk. She was moving my desk to vacuum and pulled it where she shouldnt have, and the tempered glass portion of it blew apart.

She then sent me a pic of it while I was at work, saying "sorry, im going to buy you a new one"

haha, I still am using the desk actually. It has plexiglass on it now where the tempered glass used to be. She felt so bad about it, but clearly it wasnt that big a deal if Im still using the thing.

But anyways, my latest "fuck this" moment was on Serious Sam 3. Ive been playing through it slowly for years now (haha... id play a bit, then not touch it for weeks, play a bit, not touch it, etc) and finally a few weeks ago I said fuck it, im sick of this shit and uninstalled. Im fairly certain I was pretty close to beating it also. I just couldnt take it anymore.

SM3DL made me break my 3DSXL in two parts while I have almost finished the game. Repeating the same sequence for more than 15 times made me go really mad. Got a N3DSXL and finished the game a year later.

"I'm going to get all of the Ultima Weapons!"

Back in the day on ps2 i just finished the game skipping all the subquests, also because i heard a lot of people complaining about these minigames.
Recently though i played it again with the hd remaster and i found them kinda easy, i don't think it took me more than 40-45 minutes to do both of them... I agree that the chocobo race is really shit with those horrible controls and the randomness of balloons and bird spawning, but after a few tries i made it.
What was really boring and incredibly time consuming is all that zoolab monsters farming...

Fairly recent. I was playing battlefront and noticed in the lobbies players didn't really show their rank. I love to see others and my own stats. So I lost motivation to play and just traded back.

Super Mario Sunshine:

red coins in the Hotel.
secret caves
hidden stars
yoshi dying in water hoping from platform to platform.

Super Mario Galaxy:

* Purple coins
* Trash garbage bombs
* limited time to be completed
* hidden stars

Thinking about it, I can't believe I managed to collect every single shine in SMS as well as stars in SMG. Many frustrations were had, especially in the former. I don't think I'm as good at games as I used to be.

Ninja Gaiden NES. Losing to the final boss and getting sent back like 2 whole stages. Everytime.

Go ahead and find one worse than this. I Double Dog Dare you.
Ghost and Goblins

You beat the boss to only find out LOL fuck u this is a decoy you have to start from the beginning

After the second or third Nicole hallucination in Dead Space 2, and I was done with the series. The fact that Visceral was so proud of the cheap glowing eyes and mouth effect to use it repeatedly is kind of embarrassing. I'm glad I bailed out when I did after seeing the Dead Space 3 reveal.

Just run that rift again brah

i'm going to assume it's a hardcore character death.

back OT:

There's a point in Wind Waker where, after having sailed to one extreme of the world, the boat asks you to return to where you came from, and insinuates you're going to be doing a fuckload of sailing in the near-future. it's been over a decade so i'm real fuzzy on the specifics, but i distinctly remember turning the game off and never returning to it.

More recently, mission 16 in The Phantom Pain caused me to drop the game for about 2 months straight. You're tasked with
intercepting a convoy containing important widgets but you're ambushed by The Skulls
. I had to look up a video on how to specifically beat it because I wasn't triggering the mid-level event and then I kept accidentally destroying the thing I was supposed to be protecting and it just became this feedback loop of becoming increasingly frustrated with the game.

Dropping a combo that would have secured the win & the enemy pulls a win out of their ass. This is mostly the case with UMvC3.

You guys are scaring me that Bloodborne is going to be the end of gaming for me... (first Souls game)

I think for me recently it was The Last Remnant at the "infamous" difficulty spike (eagle's nest). Got wiped out 6 times in a row and said fuck it.

Zelda 2, the entirety of it. It's a great game but holy fuck is it difficult. I died so many times before finishing it in a few days.

Fatal Frame - seeing my first ghost. Nope!

FFXIII - was just aiming to get to 'the good part' but after 28 hours, I got there but felt so beat up and bored, I stopped.

MK9 - Shao Kahn at the end. Changed it to easy just to move on with my life.

Edit: FFIX - At one point I got to a new island in the end but got creamed at each battle. Then when I thought of going back to another area to level up, I didn't have the option. Didn't play it again til the summer, thankfully was able to move on then.

The entire chapter 12 in Xenoblade X.

Bad guy : Mwa ha ha ! I'm firing at
your computer !
Elma : Oh no !
Bad guy : Mwa ha ha ! I'm still firing !
Lin : Oh no !
Bad guy : Mwa ha... err... hello, I'm still firing !
Elma : We must stop him now before it's too late !

I could also do the same
with Lao :

Lao :
I betrayed mankind to Ganglion to avenge my family who couldn't get on the White Whale !
Elma : You do remember that we had to escape Earth because of the Ganglion who destroyed the Earth ?!
Lao :
Err... I'll kill you anyway ! I'm too evil !

And the same with the final final boss :

At 50% of the boss's HP :
Almighty DNA Lao
: Bwa ha ha ! I know the origins of mankind ! Bla bla bla...
The fight resumes : all your skells lose their fuel and the boss is completly restored. No explanation whatsoever. It just happens.

Had to give up on the last boss of Spirit Tracks. No matter what I did blowing into that stupid mic would just not work. Have no idea how I got past all the previous mic parts but for some reason the last boss is where it wants to fuck around. To hell with that.

I was like this with WWE 2K16. I got it back when it launched, spent an hour dealing with the creation suite, only to spend about 10 hours doing the same atrociously boring thing over and over again in the MyCareer mode before calling it quits and trading the game in.

Far cry 4 I only need chopper takedown and coop takedown for platinum but I just couldn't get it to work. Pissed me off never went back

Resident Evil: Deadly Silence for the DS. I have arachnophobia and didn't know the game featured huge spiders as enemies. The first time I saw it I literally jumped of my bed and threw my DS across the room. Turned my DS off and gave the game to my friend and told him to keep it and that I never wanted to see that game ever again.

Also Ultimate Mortal Kombat for the DS. I swear Ed Boon made the game to be impossible. Stupid powerful A.I. that don't give a fuck about rules and god damn combo masters online that destroy you in one fucking combo. Another game I gave away never wanting to see again.

Lords of the fallen.

Realized maybe at second or third boss that the game doesn't actually have any depth and was a cash in on the souls wave and haven't looked at it since. Still feel bad knowing I got suckered into spending 60+tax on that "game".

Deus Ex: HR´s boss that you fight without any augments. I´ve spent the whole game upgrading the character to my liking and suddenly it doesn´t matter. Also, forget about all that stealthy and creative ways to dispose of enemies, just fight the boss the standard way. After many deaths, I turned the game off never to play it again. Boss fights sucked in this game.

Yes, I know there´s an upgrade that if ignored would have allowed me to keep my augments for the fight, but still, what horrible game design.

My only complaint with that game. Hopefully sequel is better designed in that regard.

One month after release. I had finished the end game several times over and still no damn helmet from the raid.

We run normal mode raids fairly often--not everyone is 320, most are 305-317 status. Poke in and ask.

I've been going back and filling in the gaps of last gen games that I never got around to. The Uncharted series is among these games. I just got done playing through the first one, and have all the trophies except for the one for beating the game on Crushing difficulty. Why? Because apparently, aside from giving you much less health (which I'm OK with because it makes things more tense), it turns every AI soldier into a fanatically suicidal person, eager and willing to die for their mercenary employer.

There's no reason that I have to manage every fight around the fact that there will be a steady stream of enemies that will charge straight at me while shooting, one at a time, until either I'm dead or all of them are. They try to get into melee range which pretty much guarantees that I'm going to die in one of two ways:

1) Either by being forced out of cover to engage in a rousing round of fisticuffs, exposing me to his friends shooting at me resulting in death
2) Or I manage to engage in melee behind an obstacle that prevents me from being shot, but instead getting punched in the shoulder by my attacker, which is apparently fatal on Crushing.

I got to Chapter
4's big gunfight right before you find the plane wreckage
, died about a dozen times, and said to myself, "You know, I don't need that platinum. I don't hate myself that much." If it was later in the game, maybe I would have pushed on, but if its giving me this much crap this early? Hell with that, man.

Obviously its not impossible because people have done it, but I don't know if I have the patience for this. I got other games to play.

It still bugs me though. I need that platinum. I have all the other trophies! What is this sickness?

I've beaten U1 one time on crushing, and that was Pre-trophy era. That fight is still hard--the cathedral, sanctuary and last couple chapters are big nopes.

Getting left behind when everybody started HM King's Fall was enough for me to be done. Not even worth trying to get a NM going in the community thread. Might try to get on a Iron Banner train this New Year for a chance at some high level gear for my Titan at least. But if I lose the heart for that/can't find a team, it's back to Yakuza 5.

See above, normal mode raids are a thing.

Two moments for me:

1) God of War 2 Titan mode Cerberus room!!! I it took me days to beat it and it felt like a flook. This is one of the times I honestly think the a team didn't even bother to play test an encounter..

The one after that one is the one that wasn't tested, but they're all beatable.

Most recent one for me would be God of War ascension on hard. I've always played GOW games on hard but GOW:A's hard mode was unbalanced and the combat system wasn't as fun and intuitive as older god of war games (no actual multiple weapons, weird combo system before being able to use magic).

So I said fuck this shit and just sold my copy.

Yep. It's one of my favorite series, but Ascension is trash, combat wise. I didn't like any of the changes from 3, which was great. I know a lot of people complained about the trials at the end of the game, but that part was easy, you just have to block. The game overall wasn't as fun.

1 controller broken for this part. The game was hard enough already that just getting to that part was hard. The first time, everyone died. Second time, 1 guy.

This is a hardcore character death. If this was at say, Mathiel, last boss, then I understand. Think the first guy to beat that fight had 50M toughness and it took forever. I learned my lesson from older games.

Ghost and Goblins

You beat the boss to only find out LOL fuck u this is a decoy you have to start from the beginning

Another controller against the wall for this one.

I'll throw in black spider clan ninjas from NG2, the Alma fight from NG1, and final form Vergil from dmc3 on Dmd. Don't have this kind of time anymore.

I'm playing through Bloodborne right now. The Blood Starved Beast is making me consider dropping the game.

This bitch is not playing fair. Fuck.

Just go ham on the BSB with a long range weapon. The longer you draw out the fight the more you'll struggle with poison.

Farming Old Yharnam for more levels in strength/vitality also isn't a bad idea. Then you'll be set to kill the next boss as soon as you're done this one.

When the beast gets mad and starts doing combos dodge to the left or right and make sure to be behind it. congrats now you beat it with eyes closed.

Trying to get Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight to work on my computer. New to PC, bought them in the jedi knight bundle. Dark Forces runs perfectly but this one refuses to work properly, luckily they're patches the community had made to get it working with windows 10. However, my comprehension of them is quite terrible.

Fuck you Jedi Knight!

I grabbed Dunk souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin since it was on sale. I'm enjoying the game so far, and then

The Gutter

TOYw2YQ.gif

I promptly fucked off to another area and never looked back.

Recently, The Witcher 3 hearts of stone first boss, was playing on the hardest difficulty, after the 10th hopeless death i lowered the difficulty and killed it.

It was a very unexpected spike in a very balanced progression, totally unexpected.

Yeah the Witcher games are very bad for that. Especially the Witcher 3, like the fetus monster boss if chose to kill it in the early game. It will annihilate where you stand, your low level be damned to 2 minute load screens!

Finally attempted to start Wolfenstein TNO (PS4) a couple days ago. I can't start the game, always getting stuck at the red title screen; at that point I can do nothing but force-shutdown the PS4. After ~2 hours of trying to start the game, I essentially said "fuck this shit" and played another game instead.
I'll try redownloading it in January.
