Your "fuck this shit" gaming moments

I didn't give up on this game, but almost did.

It happened at Chapter 5 of Alien Isolation. I almost gave up on the game for good. I shut off the console and walked away for awhile. I decided to give it one more go, somehow completed the mission and the rest of the game was a cakewalk in comparison. I'm super glad I stuck with it, because it's one of my favorite gaming experiences... minus Chapter 5.

The entire chapter 12 in Xenoblade X.

Bad guy : Mwa ha ha ! I'm firing at
your computer !
Elma : Oh no !
Bad guy : Mwa ha ha ! I'm still firing !
Lin : Oh no !
Bad guy : Mwa ha... err... hello, I'm still firing !
Elma : We must stop him now before it's too late !

I could also do the same
with Lao :

Lao :
I betrayed mankind to Ganglion to avenge my family who couldn't get on the White Whale !
Elma : You do remember that we had to escape Earth because of the Ganglion who destroyed the Earth ?!
Lao :
Err... I'll kill you anyway ! I'm too evil !

And the same with the final final boss :

At 50% of the boss's HP :
Almighty DNA Lao
: Bwa ha ha ! I know the origins of mankind ! Bla bla bla...
The fight resumes : all your skells lose their fuel and the boss is completly restored. No explanation whatsoever. It just happens.

The game itself was a very average experience until I got to this bullshit then it just became terrible. I had to cheese and kite the chimeras for 15 minutes since you couldn't back out and then had to fight that stupid final boss.

There is a whole bunch of post game stuff you can do in Xenoblade X but that chapter and general lifeless grind of the game just gave me no reason to continue at all.

"Finishing" Bubble Bobble and Ghost 'n' Goblins for the first time...

The entire chapter 12 in Xenoblade X.

Then again in the original when you battle
Egil
and
Dickson
something similar happens on both occasions, funny thing in both games I kicked their asses.

You were able to get 320 gear (helmets/class items) just by racing Sparrows over the past few weeks at least. Win or lose.

I tried it few times, but I didn't find it that fun to play two tracks repeatedly. I also disliked the constant ramming into opponents. Competitive online gaming just isn't my cup of tea.

Really? I haven't played it in ages so I must be remembering wrong.

There's the
tentacles in space
after that. I quitted playing right there.

Resident Evil Code Veronica on Dreamcast, two venomous hunters on the other side of the door and it's the only way to progress onward through the game. Now what makes it worse is that only have 5% of health at that point. Everytime I walk through that door, I would die instantly from the two hunters leaping at me. After a day of trying every single way I can get out of it without deleting the game is starting over, I just said fuck it and I've never played that game again. Even now I still kind of regret not going back and finishing off Resident Evil Code Veronica.

Late levels of 1st chapter in The Last of us. After the 5th room full of bad guys in a row, I just rolled my eyes and shut the ps3 down. Too boring to me.

Demons Souls. An outdoors corridor with three towers where a dragon shoots flames and one shots you near the beginning of the game. I was trying to lock an enemy, it locked the ubeatable dragon instad. Fuck it.

Both all-time great games which you might have adored had you pressed past the first minor inconvenience.

Killzone 2 fighting Radic that was the first time in my life to throw a controller and quit the game lol, Still embarrassed about that moment

The first Driver which forces you to do fairly difficult tutorial stuff in the car park before the game begins. I was young, impatient and so traded it in. What a repulsive way to start a game.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia crab boss

Loved this game for about an hour, ready to hail it as the next SotN, then this guy comes along and nope.jpg. Still never beat him.

Past two years has been really bad for this. I think it's dev's trying to put 'difficulty' into their games.

Dying Light got really close to this recently.

I completely gave up on Animal Crossing: New Leaf about three or four days in. I don't remember if it was the endless grinding or the constant waiting or a combination of the two that got to me, but I can very confidently say that the game most definitely isn't for me.

I really really wanted to like Kid Icarus Uprising but when I got to the mission about 2/3rds in where you have to endure like 12 waves of enemies I just wasn't having fun.

If I remember correctly, this boss can be handily beaten by crouching in the bottom left platform and having a weapon that swings overhead.

Crush him with the elevator.
I can't even get to the top of the lighthouse, haha.

Hmm, time to grind for weapons next time I play this game

Sonic 06. Sonic vs Silver.

"It's no use!"

Broke the goddamn disc in two. Only time I've ever destroyed a game in anger in 25+ years of gaming.

Only game I broke was a PS2 demo disc with Simpsons Hit and Run. Two of my friends would come over every day during Summer vacation and would just want to play that and nothing else. I could take it no more lol.
I guess this is also a fuck this shit moment ahah.

Persona 4 golden: So not only the dungeons are boring as fuck , I also have to listen to this people I dont care about yap about their problems? , fuck this shit.

Dying Light got really close to this recently.

I can think of a lot of recent games with this effect too, but Dying Light isn't one of them. Nothing about that game frustrated me or particularly bothered me bar rare minor inconveniences.

How come it got your goat?

Final Warthog section in the first Halo.

Lost momentum very briefly, couldn't make the final jump. I wasn't going to let that shitty section ruin the rest of the game for me so I just turned the game off. The game is better without it.

- The flags in Assassin's Creed
- When my save file corrupted when I almost finished the final level in THPS5
- The final, unbeatable boss in Shinobi for PS2

FFVIII, I was in a place killing some dragon after hours of grinding, immediately got one shotted and lost all my progress. Turned it off and never looked back.

The final (well, second to last, I guess) boss in Bloodborne. I tried and tried but I kept getting my ass whooped. I just said fuck it, I've seen nearly all this game has to offer and I really enjoyed it, but it just wasn't worth the frustration. Still one of my favorite games of the year.

Started playing the DLC yesterday, though, so maybe that will encourage me to give it another shot.

Father gasgoine

Yo. Fuck that dude.

I finally have this fucking game figured out, I am visceral attacking him and the whole deal, its fucking awesome I am totally going to win...

And then he fucking TRANSFORMS??? What the fuck. I panicked and spazzed out and died. So mad. I said something out loud, in anger, and my girl looked up at the screen to see "YOU DIED" or whatever (she never watches me play and has no idea what is going on in any of my games) and just said...

"wow, thats mean"

1) Vergil in OG DMC3 on easy. EASY. Jesus H Christ. I can't even fathom the dude on Normal.

Actually, OG DMC3 on Normal was a series of "fuck this" moments.

2) I think the one part in God of War 2 where you fight a continuous wave of Cerberuses.

3) Again in God of War 2: escorting that translator/scribe

4) FFIX: Ozma. No seriously. Fuck. This.

5) FFXII: Zodiark. Sweating bullets by the time I killed it. The Insta-Death spam was straight cheap.

#1 Getting five gears in the Maxime Tour wing suit race in Just cause 3 which is required for the platinum.

I swear they have tweaked the difficulty now and made it easier as I had to fly through ALL THE RED RING MARKERS to get all five gears before the patch. 1 & a half hours and an almost broken dualshock 4 later I did get all five gears and the platinum but damn, no game has EVER made me that angry before.

#2 Rom, The Vacuous Spider (Bloodborne)

Fuck this guy. Seriously. It took me over all about 3-4 hours just to beat this boss and in my opinion he was the hardest boss in the game (besides the DLC) .

One of my most recent ones (a year ago) is trying to beat Gaius on Hard Time Attack in Shadow of the Colossus HD. That fight is ragdoll simulator to the max!!

Then we have Catherine's Axis Mundi on Solo mode lmao

Also Mysterious Figure from Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep while playing Terra fits the role pretty well.

KOTOR. So many crashes. Fuck that shit.

KOTOR 1, especially. 2 was pretty stable up until the recent patch, and then the crashes were predictable and manageable. KOTOR 1 would just crash at the drop of a hat, for any reason or none at all.

Apparently quoted something half a decade old. Still valid, though.

Vettel challenge in GT5 (Red Bull F1). Super fuck this shit moment. Was only capable of getting one out of three bronce medals in this super fucking event, even after they lowered the fucking bar.

From current gen:

Rom from Bloodborne....fuck that thing.

The camera, some of the subgames and platforming in W101 had me really pissed off at times.

The gunplay in Bioshock Infinite. Literally couldn't get past the first section of the game because I hated it.

FF13...once I got to the outer world, I saw that classes and class based abilities no longer had any significance to a particular character. Then I dropped my control, popped another game on and sold the game few weeks later.
