Your most hyped game of all time.

Super Smash Bros Brawl - God the hype for this was unreal. Like many I kept up with every daily update, and with Melee being one of my favorite games I could not stop thinking about this. Ended up buying 2 copies at its release from 2 sources just so that I could get it as soon as possible.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door - Growing up, Paper Mario was one of my favorite games, if not favorite. Pretty sure it was one of the first single player games in which I got really immersed in its world and mechanics, so when I heard about a sequel I was giddy beyond words. Was the first game I actively kept up with before its release, and was also the first game in which I tracked it down asap and spent money I was saving up all on it. That night I can't remember sleeping, but it's always been one of my fondest gaming memories. The experience also played a large part in getting me into gaming news and forums in general.

These are probably the 2 big ones for me. I also remember being super hyped for Pikmin 3, Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, and Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is mine. Every theory, every reveal. Such a shame that it turned out the way it is but at least it released. I remember getting extremely emotional throughout the period we were waiting for its release. Hahaha, man, good times. What a dedicated fan base.

I've been hyped for a lot of games, downright obsessive at times, but there's one game that I can say without a doubt that I have never been more hyped for. Star Citizen. The ideas behind it are literally everything I've ever wanted in a single game. Nothing else even comes close in terms of ambition.

A lot of people like to criticise it for the lack of progress, but as someone who actually watches the weekly videos and reads the monthly reports, I have no doubts that this game is making great strides. Can't wait for Gamescom.

Super Smash Bros. 4. The moment I saw Mega Man, my hype went from 100% to 1000%. MM was basically my "pipedream" Smash character since the original on N64. So with that announcement I knew I was gonna ride that hypetrain all the way to the end. And man what a ride that was. I fiendishly awaited every pic of the day of that game, often staying up WAY past my bedtime just for that. And the actual trailers, my god the trailers...my heartrate would shoot up every time that firey Smash logo appeared on screen. Every single one of those was an event for me.
Totally loved Smash 4 hype. And boy did that game deliver.

Its Uncharted 3 for me. First game on PS3 I bought day one, I still remember it getting delivered and feeling like a kid opening it up lol haven't had an experience like that since with any other games i've been hyped for.

I was pretty psyched for Halo 3.
I skipped school for the Beta and full game, bought the legendary edition and clocked in something insane like 29 days in the first 5 months of release.

OP why you make thread and put exactly what I'm gonna say in your post. No hype will ever be bigger than MGS2. I got that Zone of Enders with the quickness before I even had a PS2 and used to play the MGS2 demo at my friends house. Ironically the demo made a better impression on me than the overall game.

San Andreas or Shenmue 2.

Bought a console for Shenmue 2 (Xbox), but me and my friends were fucking obsessed over San Andreas. Checked fansites every day hoping for new info for months up to release.

Only counting more recent games, of which I can actually remember well how was the period before they released.

Diablo 3, would be number one, which is the only Collector's Edition I ever preordered.

Then Twilight Princess, for which I bought a Wii to play it.

Portal 2 and The Witcher 2 are tied a step bellow those two.

Hmmm. I went a little crazy reading about and checking out screens for MGS1. I played the demo like 200 000 times. Its gota be up there.

MGS2 I also played the demo an inordinate amount of times.

I was so pumped for God of War 3 that I got crazy goosebumps when I put it in my PS3 the first time.

Fallout 3 was also a big moment for me. I was insanely hyped for that.

Thinking of all time is hard...

The Last of Us I went crazy for...

Ummmmm. I might have to go with Tomb Raider 2.

I was obsessed with the original. I would pick up every single magazine that had an article about TR2. I wouldnt ahut up about it ao much thatmy brother in law pre ordered it for me. When I finally got my hands on it I was so fucking happy.

As I'm typing this out Unreal also comes to mind.

And GTA 3.

Fuck.. I've been really hyped for a lot of games.

I mean... it has to be Banjo Threeie.

The X06 trailer made me so pumped I bought a 360. Nuts and Bolts was a great game but a massive let down.

16 years I have waited. Like I see a 15 year old on the street... I have waited their entire life span for a video game. It is insane. I probably replay Kazooie and Tooie twice a year on average.

Either Chrono Cross or Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Chrono Trigger and Zelda: A Link To The Past were probably my most played games at that time. I used to play through them consistently. I would beat ALTTP and within a day or two start fresh. The same for Chrono Trigger. I had multiple files with maxed levels/stats/items because I loved it that much. I was obsessed with Link's Awakening too, so I'm leaning more towards Ocarina.

Was very let down by Cross, and fell in love with Ocarina of Time.

My hype for Smash Bros Brawl was insane. The dojo just amplified it. Smash always brings the most hype for me, but it never got as big as Brawl. Makes sense since it was one of the first games I spent time on the internet hyping up. By Smash 4, I'd already become used to it and knew what to expect.

Final Fantasy 6. I read a Nintendo Power about it for two months while "vacationing" (i.e. being bored) in Turkey as an 11 year old and the night I got back home after a 12 hour flight I got my dad to take me to Toys'R'Us and paid $76 for it.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Disappointed me in the long run, though I had fun with it for like 30 hours before I ended up realizing how lame I felt the story was and the repetition set in hard -- that said, it was still a worthwhile experience for the most part, I just had no expectation for it to fall so short on the story or to become as unbearably boring as I found it after a while.

I still get hyped for other things. My hype pays off more often than not, but it just coincidentally did not for my "most hyped ever."

I've been gaming since the NES however due to the Internet more recent gen games get hyped more

For me the most hyped game was between Diablo III and Street Fighter IV

It was great to these 2 loved IPs about to make a return. Unfortunately Diablo III dissapointed on launch but the hype cycle for this was crazy.

Another game I was hyped for was GTA San Andreas. Constantly checking forums for new news and going out and buying a magazine with a feature story for the game.

Pokemon Silver was another game that got me super hyped I even imported the game is

Edit
How can I forget Wii Sports that shit was crazy hype

Metal Gear Solid V, mainly for the story which ended up being pretty dissapointing. I wish Kojima went with a classic story of revenge with Big Boss's transformation into a villain :(

Ha, definitely Kingdom Hearts II and Mass Effect 3. My two most hyped games were the two I was probably most let down by, though I think I kept my expectations fairly realistic as to what they would entail - I just wasn't expecting them to go completely off the rails!

KHII was all nobodies, needlessly convoluted plot, got-it-fucking-memorised, Dudefest XIII, and boring level design. ME3... well, Red, Green, and Blue.

Yep. Not bitter at all.

Dragon Age Inquisition would probably be my third game that I was most excited for. It's probably my least favourite in the DA series, but I get Bioware were trying to compensate for a lot of DA2 criticisms.

I was really excited for The Last Guardian, but I think I've dropped down to warming contentment that it's just coming out. I think the new God of War is probably the next biggest hype game for me, though there are many exciting games still coming out in the meantime! pleasebegoodFFXVpleasebegood I'm also absurdly hyped for the FFXII remaster, which is silly, considering I've played the game quite a few times already. I'd been holding off replaying FFXII for years hoping they'd do something with the IZJS version - and they have! Weeeeeeeeeee!

Its gotta be NiOh for me. After getting my hands on it I'm incredibly thirsty for more. I watch something NiOh related every couple of days, even stuff I've seen before. I've watched multiple LPs of the Alpha multiple times. God I want it so bad.

I remember being really psyched for Call of Duty: Black Ops and I bought the Hardened Edition day one because of the World at War zombie maps. Had a ton of fun with the game overall. Spore was also something I was extremely hyped for, but to be honest I haven't played more than, like, an hour of the final game. Disappointing for sure, I had way more fun with just the creature creator. Grand Theft Auto V is probably the most recent one. The game was pretty great and fun to play, but did it live up to the hype? Ehh. Oh yeah, the original Scribblenauts for the Nintendo DS was a game I was restlessly waiting for too.

My most hyped game ever would probably be;
Shenmue
Fable
Halo 2
Doom 3

Shenmue was really the only one that delivered on what I hoped to experience in the game. Fable was a good game, but it was missing so much that we wouldn't see until Fable 2 came out. The multiplayer in Halo 2 was a pretty fucking amazing at the time, but that single player campaign was a huge let down. Doom 3 was completely fine, but not at all what I was hoping for when I was first blown away by that E3 tech demo.

Mortal Kombat 2 for the SNES.

I even made a box filled with packaging popcorn to keep the game inside when I wasn't playing it.

Probably this, Donkey Kong Country, Parappa the Rapper, or sadly Final Fantasy VIII.

Recently the only games I was excited about were Star Wars Battlefront (until I heard it didn't have single player and I got a Ps4 because of it so I still haven't purchased it), Mirror's Edge 2 (which got average reviews so still haven't bought it yet) and Hotline Miami 2 which was awesome and to this day the only PSN game I paid full price for.

How did I forget this lol. I wasnt allowed to play this game and I wanted it so bad. I remember my friend a few blocks away called me and hes like "dude, I got Mortal Kombat 2,come play".. I hung that phone up so fast and sprinted all the way to his house lol. Good ol days.

Probably the FF7 Remake. It's the only time I can remember losing my shit during a press conference.

I'm sure if/when Half Life 3 is (finally) revealed it will take that spot. OH! And Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely up there. "Cyberpunk" as a sub-genre is my favorite type of fiction so an RPG made by one of the best dev studios on the planet right now sounds amazing.

1. LittleBigPlanet 1/2 - My favourite games of all time alongside Final Fantasy VII.

2. Red Dead Redemption

3. Grand Theft Auto V

4/5. Halo 3 - It's between 4 and 5, this is hard to choose lol.

5. This is too hard, I can't do it lol.

Honorable mentions/Runners up

PlanetSide 2

Fallout 4

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

And many other games.
