You're the Worst - Season 4 - Wednesdays on FXX

Loved it! At first I was bored with Jimmy and the retirement home story but by the end of the sequence I found it all very touching! Also I paused when they showed Jimmy's phone to try and see what apps he had... celebrity foot watch wtf.

Second episode especially was awesome, it was basically the Lindsay show and I could always watch more Lindsay. Funniest character on television in my opinion.

I dug the heck out of the premiere(s). I don't particularly buy Jimmy's revelation, but I'm interested to see where it goes nonetheless.

After season 3 went off-the-rails-wacky it was good to see a somewhat more grounded feel to the show, similar to season 2. I mean, yeah, everybody is still dumb, but we had some real heartfelt/dark moments for both Jimmy (the letter) and Gretchen (going back to the guy from season 1 and looking defeated).

Season 4 is off to a good start.

A little late to the party, just watched the premiere episode(s), loved all of it. Great to have this show back. I'm bummed how impossible it's been for me to convince anyone else to give this show a shot, it's so good!

New episode tonight:
Odysseus

After Jimmy returns to Los Angeles, he attempts to make amends with Gretchen, leading to their first confrontation. Lindsay and Edgar enjoy their new friends-with-benefits arrangement while Edgar tries to show Jimmy that Gretchen wasn't the only person he abandoned.

The visual of Gretchen confronting Jimmy at his place and Jimmy's expression why the dumpster lit on fire were both great.

Also Jimmy walking in on Edgar/Lindsey twice.

Damn...need to catch up on the first few episodes.

The Lindsay comments in here have me intrigued as well.

New episode tonight:
This Is Just Marketing

Jimmy learns that his literary novel is being marketed as erotica. While doing Vernon's podcast, Gretchen realizes she's been letting Jimmy off easy. When Edgar and Lindsay babysit Tallulah, Lindsay learns for the first time that she's capable of love and Edgar tries a new technique to pick up women.

this season has been very good so far, i hope it continues completely shitting on jimmy

the dead dad didn’t work, only living completely alone in earned squalor will make him sympathetic

I'm glad the show's back, still haven't watched the latest episode but I wanted to ask a question that I may have asked GAF before (cause I just watched the first couple new Bojack Horseman episodes), I find these two shows way too similar in a way that makes no sense! It's not just the beginning of season 4, it goes back to the first season - is there a logical explanation to this?

This was the best episode since season 2. 4 episodes in and it seems like they've successfully recaptured the magic of those earlier seasons.

This is good to read. I've been letting them build up, I think I'll power through them tomorrow!!

I think you'll be pleased! I wish I'd saved some up to binge. I watched season 1 all in a row and it made the whole thing pop even more.

It's a great way to watch it, it's how I've watched every season so far! Save up half the season, watch it and then wait for the rest to save up, haha.

I see some similarities with the LA setting, depression, and the absurdity of the characters but don't find them that similar.

Lindsay does have the perfect cartoon voice though.

Coincidence? I've only seen Bojack S4 as my girlfriend was watching it, but I made the same comment after seeing the premiere. I was like, this is almost the exact same setup as the start of You're the Worst's new season, with the leading man having run off and disappeared for an extended period of time only to learn some vague lessons through a friendship with an older gentleman.

I'm not sure I'd read much into the connections of satirizing LA/Hollywood and exploring depression/self-loathing. I think those are pretty broad and common elements in media.

It's not just you, I literally recommended to this show to someone that was looking for more stuff like Bojack. I dunno, it just fits lol

lol, didn't someone in the last season's thread predict Jimmy's book would have been a huge hit, but for the wrong reasons?

This season has been on fire so far. A lot of killer lines too. "Drag her out of her shower and force-feed her coffee until she's shooting it out of her butt."

"No it's making a come back. Like pubes, or racism."

New episode tonight:
Fog of War, Bro

Gretchen has moved back into the house and plays mind games with Jimmy, sabotaging his first interview for the new book. Seeing an opportunity in Gretchen's return to the house, Edgar and Lindsay plot to get Jimmy and Gretchen back together.

New-Lindsay and New-Edgar's dynamic has been the best part of the season for me.

Good continuity nod with Gretchen watching gangbang porn.

i was into the first couple of episodes but wasn't really feeling the newest one. it made me have doubts about the season's direction as a whole as well.

the show veers into too cartoony occasionally, and i don't think it works that well. i also think they are misusing the breakup arc, it just feels like the season is kinda aimless right now. it's still dependably funny, but not really hitting the emotional (or even comedic) heights of the past seasons.

granted, this was also the case in season 2 and 3, and they pulled it together, so we'll see i guess.

gretchen having sex with that guy in the house was kinda funny though.

New episode tonight:
There's Always a Back Door

Edgar takes Jimmy on a "man date" in an effort to emotionally bond with him while Gretchen discovers some startling news about the new guy she's seeing. Lindsay attempts to make friends at work.
