Fantastic movie. I now can't help but wonder who would win in a fight....El Rey or Tallahasse? I still pull for El Rey...but damn...Tallahasse pulls some stuff off.

HOTD Overkill lads need to go ahead and crank out a videogame to this! :lol
 
Saw the movie today. After the
Bill Murray scene
, the movie kinda fell apart.

But yeah, the whole
Ghostbusters scene-"DON'T CROSS THE STREAMS!"
had everyone laughing.

the movie was good from beginning to end, i didn't see any drop off. infact, the last segment may have even been a step up in the sheer awesomeness department.... but then i think of zombie
bill murray
and i have to admit that was the highlight of the movie. but it was still awesome all the way!

Agree completely. After that scene all the way till they arrive at the
amusement park
made me roll my eyes so hard. The scene with
the dancing and then later when the main character say's "there picture is in someones wallet too"
had me rolling my eyes so hard. I also thought the whole
"we have to leave them because we cant trust anyone"
part was so stupid and really made no sense either than getting the guys to
rescue them in the amusement park
. Probably didn't help that with the exception of Tallahassee I didn't really care much about the characters. Zombie scenes were awesome, dramatic scenes were ugh.

I'm sorry, but I was rolling in the theatre due to how over the top everything was. Great movie...just great.

Shaun perhaps will age better, but Zombieland had me laughing as hard as I can remember in a movie in a long ass time. Crowd was perfect as well, really boosted the atmosphere.

Zombieland will probably be fun for a few viewings.. but Shaun is just one of those movies that gets better with repeat viewings. I think it was near the end of Shaun.. maybe some of the serious moments when it hit me that it was an amazingly well balanced movie. I didn't really feel that with Zombieland.. but hey that could be what some people are looking for.
 
Coming back from Zombieland, I have to say that it's a much different thing from British humor, obviously, and on those grounds I won't bother trying to comparing the two as I felt they were so different. I think, overall, that I like Zombieland more, but I laughed more during Shaun of the Dead. One reason I prefer Zombieland is because
all the characters live
whereas
in Shaun, Ed dies, and it kind of killed the mood for me because I didn't feel that the movie was really going for any emotion and then this best friends parting ways scene was just a bummer, but in Zombieland they just fucking throw down at the end and I was delighted that Tallahassee didn't die in that booth that he locked himself in, I was waiting for it but it didn't happen and that made me happy
. Made it an overall more enjoyable experience to me. Hm, I said I wouldn't compare them but I just sort of did. Oh well.

Great movie.
 
I cannot express my love for this movie. It was so much fun and so funny that I had a smile from beginning to end. Oh and Woody Harrelson is a fucking badass.

Pretty much just adding to what's already been said, but it's so great to have another quality zombie movie.

Now off to buy Dead Rising :lol
 
You know I just got to thinking. Same spoiler from my reply above, but Woody Harrelson would be awesome as a
Ghostbusters. Seeing him in the outfit and the proton pack was neat.
 
I forgot to mention someone behind me at the theater was talking about neogaf. It was at the lakewood 16. Speak up motherfucker.
 
Just came back from the film. There are many great moments. I liked all of the actors even with the feeling the entire film that they are playing replica characters from past films, but in retrospect that is part of what makes this film work so well. I especially loved the cameo in the film as I believe most will.

My biggest complaint is that the film felt too isolated. They don't get into any detail really of the before and after. So instead of inserting some dialog and a few scenes to further the "Zombieland" atmosphere, in the end it just feels like a trip to the amusement park and nothing further. A couple of the scenes could have been cut and really didn't expand the humor or character development in the film.

Beyond that, the comparisons in this thread to "Shaun of the Dead" keep coming up. I hate to have to compare the two and they are very different in many ways. The fact that this is a first time director is very impressive. Ultimately though Shaun of the Dead engulfs this film with room to spare. Isn't even close.
 
Zombieland was hilarious and visually pleasing. They could make a two hour film of the opening credits alone and i'd be very happy. I've never seen slow motion capture so much character in simple action. Perhaps it's the nature of the content.
 
I think the comparisons between Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland are unfair.

One is a RomCom with Zombies.

The other is a Buddy Comedy with Zombies.

They are both equally awesome for different reasons.
 
i think everyone agrees that both are great movies but come on you can't say "you can't really compare them!"

they are both movies about the zombie apocalypse. that's like saying i can't compare "We are marshall" to "Remember the titans"
 
This movie was a lot of fun. The only thing I didn't like was that the main character could be pretty grating during the narration. If they make a sequel they need to cut down the narrating 90%.
 
solid movie. first half felt really well done, but it got weak towards the end. i wish the characters developed a bit more. 7/10.


also, lohan might look like an old grandma, but at least we've got emma stone:

I was quite simply the most entertained I have been at a movie theater in ages.

I hate this thread & everyone in it! I wanna see this too :'( It doesn't go up here until Oct 23rd, a day before I'm gonna take a potentially life-altering exam, and nobody I know likes these kinds of movies :( Damnit!

Didn't get to see it this weekend due to being sick and don't want to give people there swine flu. Once I'm done with the sickness I'll go see zombieland.

Very, very funny movie. Enjoyed the hell out of it. However, is it better than Shaun of the Dead? Nope.... but that's only because SotD is the epitome of a good zombie comedy. On it's own, Zombieland holds up fairly well - but it isn't as smart as SotD was with the jokes/gags/etc.

I vastly prefer the last act of this movie to Shaun of the Dead's near complete dropping of all comedy and going to borderline depressing drama and just pure horror.

On Zombieland: This movie was too intense for me at the beginning as I'm such a wimp, but it slowly gave way to something I loved despite my constant terror of things that may happen. The movie has tons and tons of teases where you just KNOW something is going to happen but it doesn't. Character development was great.

The twilight trailer was hilarious. Tons of fast cuts of epic cg action cut with groups of shirtless guys walking up = LOL
 
Curious if anyone can tell me what that song is that plays when
Columbus is running towards the two girls on the ride at the amusement park
with the sort of opera dude singing in it. It plays again during the end of the credits. I'm not sure if it's part of that Raconteurs song or not. Thanks in advance.
 
Just got back from seeing and I think I just found my new favorite zombiemovie (until the World War Z movie is out anyway)
the whole Bill Murray part had me in tears!

I think you're talking about The Black Keys - Your Touch. Actually having re-read your description probably not. I can't remember that part.

You can't imagine the cheers when he said where he was from, and the boos when they said what happened.
