It means it is releasing the same day as Uncharted 2.

bkfount said:the 6 hour time isn't bullshit. You can fly through the story depending on difficulty, skill, and what you choose to do. I'm far through the story, but started doing some side stuff between missions when I realized how quickly I was flying through it. There's side missions and exploration/collectibles to add some time, but I don't doubt at all that people can beat the story in 6 hours. People can even beat Fallout 3 in an hour, but it doesn't mean the game sucks ass.
Oh, yeah.Shurs said:It means it is releasing the same day as Uncharted 2.

you can run straight to the place where your dad is if you know where it is.BobTheFork said:Wait, how the hell does one beat fallout 3 in an hour?

Most places will probably get their copies in tomorrow. I'm hoping I can pick one up a bit early. We shall see.
yeah, but then you still have to free him and double back to a few places that you can't teleport to if you haven't been before. Then getting the stuff from the enclave. There's no way you get through the tutorial, and run that far out, THEN do the endgame stuff that fast. I'm gong to look up speedrunsRez said:you can run straight to the place where your dad is if you know where it is.

I am really digging things based on the demo but I understand where he's coming from as a fan of Psychonauts.V_Ben said:wow. dunno what else to say to that. maybe a bit marmite?
He thought it was awful....so probaby not. :lol Seems to be something different than he expected or something. I don't get the "no humor" part as I laughed numerous times just watching some random videos. :lol Well, you can't please everyone. I'm so pumped for the reviews!VibratingDonkey said:So you don't think it's good?

painey said:well I got back from playing maybe 4 or 5 hours of it at my friends and I have to say I am absolutely gutted at how this turned out. I am a huge Schafer fan, I mean I own every game he ever worked on, but to me this game is truly awful.
I came in with such huge expectations, especially considering how great Psychonauts was but this has left me with nothing but a bad taste. From the first menu "cut scene" of Jack Black I had a big smile on my face, but as game kicked in it turned into a frown and then a grimace.
Essentially this game is one big mini game fest, with all the finese of a movie tie in. You drive from one hastily and loosely explained plot point to another playing out a set piece, either a short combat section, an escort mission or what is probably the most stinking piece of shit i have ever had the misfortune to play this gen, a horrific "RTS" section. Just thinking about how poorly done it is makes my blood boil.
The story is not only stupid in concept, but nonsensical in application, every cut scene (which are actually very well voiced) jumps from plot point to plot point in a blink of an eye, introducing and removing key characters before you can even remember their name. In the 5 hours i played i unlocked most of the story achievements and still cant understand the point of most of it.
The graphics are great, but frame rate chugs even in cutscenes and the camera is a thing of nightmares which often leads to you driving off cliffs into a quick respawn death.
There is far too little polish.. constant tool tips pop up reminding you of things you already know, when upgrading your car and scrolling through the options Ozzy Osbourne explains them, but as you scroll from one to another the audio doesnt stop and your minions constantly come out with the same lines over and over, sometimes while not even on screen. Constantly flipping about and clipping when you drive, mundane and unordinary side missions.
Quite probably the worst thing is the lack of humour, the one thing you would expect from a Schafer game. I laughed once the entire time and it was more of a dry laugh than a chuckle i got constantly from Psychonauts. There are huge numbers of opportunities for witty comments or jokes but they just don't come, the closest you get is an eyebrow shrug or a lighting of a smoke after someone says something.
There are some positives, like I said the voice acting is great and do the best of an unfunny script and Lemmy and Ozzy are great. The combat is more than adequate, but its used very seldom as you spend most of your time driving or commanding squads.
I know this is a poorly written and sloppy write up, but I am just blotting down thoughts as they come to me.. I am truly gutted and cancelling my pre order because it just isnt worth £35 to me. I feel like i've just seen my pet get shot. I don't really know what else to say.

saunderez said:Wow....are we even playing the same game? Apart from the audio quips which I agree with I've had absolutely no control or camera issues in my play time. I feel like I know the major characters intimately at this point and I'm probably 5 hours in too. I also understand whats going on in the story which differs from your experience. I've had no issues driving and very few control related deaths. And there's definitely no lack of humour, even compared to Psychonauts. My issues mainly stem from the RTS segments which I haven't quite mastered yet, apart from that I'm having an exceptional time with the game. Sure the side missions are pointless and repetitive, but show me an open world game where that isn't the case. This game is definitely shaping up to be a 9 for me and I'm not even a fan of metal.
I'm (at a guess) 5 hours in and I don't feel like I'm a long way through the story yet. I've done every side mission up to this point and a lot of exploring for the collectibles, its feeling like this will be a 20-25 hour game if you want to do and see everything.RPGCrazied said:long as it isnt really 6hours long, im ok
It's a bit variable at times, not bad enough to annoy me though. I am playing installed so I have no idea if that made a difference.RPGCrazied said:about the framerate problems, i did notice them in teh demo.. so its in the final game?

can you listen to metal music outside the car? They should've made an mp3 player accessory or something.
