They're hoping if they write enough good endings, they might find a way for them to survive the horror story that is their financials.

If this is a PSVR game, that's just an automatic bad end.

I think they've just had some luck with the genre with their last couple of games exceeding expectations. I believe Yomawari: Night Alone, in particular, did very well for them.

They'll probably continue making little horror games until the ride ends.

Yomawari had some problems (movement speed in particular leaves a lot to be desired, and some enemies have outrageous hit boxes), but its creature design was really something special. For an isometric Silent Hill-type game, I think they were surprised how good it ended up turning out and how well it actually sold.

So hey, they found something that works and what they've made has room for improvement. Why stop now?
