The Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer Thread

That's like the #1 weapon I'm seeing and people are cleaning up with it.
Pretty much a carbon copy of the Collector SMG and I like it as much as I did back then for all of my power classes. Great for applying ammo effects and never having to pause at a supply box.

Has anyone here soloed gold?
Trying to get devices without being an Infiltrator is a little frustrating. You can camp on the other side of the map and draw all of the enemies towards you, but half way through getting a device a stupid dog will be on you.
Someone on reddit did it with the Angaran Avenger and that Stealth grid skill.

Popped an EXTREMELY rare 100% Bonus XP booster for a 17 min gold run. The game crashes on the 6th wave and I no longer have said booster or any experience points from the match
Cool.
The consumables should really be removed from your inventory after a match is finished, but I guess they are afraid people will just quit games in order to save their consumables... that said, other than the strike missions, I don't know if it's possible to actually lose. lol

Also, after playing for almost a week, what's everyone's favorite character so far? I usually end up swapping between the vanguard and angara insurgent between matches
The vanguard variants are fun, mostly because it's so brain dead and I hate the fact that you can't adjust sensitivity for ADS and non-ADS. I'm starting to play around with Infiltrator because I got the Vanquisher and it's pretty useful at least for taking out the bosses.

The way boosters still get used up even if the game crashes or you leave early is infuriating. It's like they're worried about people potentially exploiting the boosters somehow, but the system they have in place is so punishing to people who aren't doing that. I think ME3 had the same problem, and it never made sense to me there either.

It prevents you from 'saving the booster' by leaving early in a failing game. It's more concerned about preventing people from cheating the system than preventing people from getting cheated by the system. It's very much in line with their philosophy that if you leave a game early, you get no xp and no credits. Leavers get punished, so no one would ever intentionally leave a failing game after the first wave or two, which protects the people who would otherwise get left.

This seems...sloppy?

The graphics, the insane lag, the map design, everything feels like it was done by interns, especially when compared to ME3's multiplayer. I was thinking the MP would be the one thing that'd be a guaranteed knock out.

I'll try a couple more matches, but something about this is off. Maybe, it's just me.

I feel this way too. Thought I was crazy after seeing other opinions on this thread. It's janky as hell. I got the huntress up to lvl19 finally but I think I'm just gonna stop.

As much work as MP needs work, i feel like the credits you earn seems fair. Even on bronze you get enough credits to open a couple basic packs. I completed my first gold match and got like 60K. I was actually pretty surprised.

Finally picked up a Krogan Vanguard, levelling that for now since it seems to be at the top at the moment, though I have to say I felt more at ease with my Asari Adept (which I love as well). I imagine it'll get better as I get more skill points.

I'm actually not entirely sure how to spec the Krogan Vanguard aside from maxing Charge. Going Rage next for now. (That screen effect though, the HORROR)

I think it sucks that the Krogan Vanguard doesn't have the Barrier passive skill tree, and instead has the mediocre Apex Training skill tree. Barrier would turn the class into an even stronger tank with even better melee, and combine the Rage tree with the Barrier tree could give the class like -90% Shield/Health regen delay, muahahaha!

I get that, I just think it's still and nonsensical. If they're going to create such an unstable connection ecosystem for players, it's bullshit to punish them for getting lagged out of a game or connecting to one that's unplayable because of lag.

Also the game actually does a fairly good job of filling empty spots, so there's not much reason to discourage people from leaving by eating their boosters when "no exp or credits" seems like a perfectly reasonable compromise to make. The potential for exploitation seems incredibly low to me. If you aren't getting any exp or credits from a match you leave, you're not really "saving" your booster because you didn't get anything from the match anyways. Accepting the lost time and quitting a match early to save your exp booster for a match where you might perform better is just not a thing that's going to reasonably happen often enough to justify the current system in place.

It's a known issue where people can't join private setups turned public.

By known issue you men that they are already working on it? It's getting difficult to group with 1 or 2 friends and never filling the empty spots.

I do remember that ME3 has similar issues when it launched, and the turnaround they made was awesome. Really, they delivered tons of content for free and a lot of patches. Finger crossed it still happens here

I tend to agree, it doesn't have the same polish as me3mp. However, because of how jumping and evading feels on keyboard, I don't think I can ever go back to me3 now. For better or worse I'm stuck with andromeda. The extra mobility just allows me to look past the faults I guess. I really do wish they spent more time on it though.

Near impossible to play with friends and host a match. Several days where no one joins. Is it some issue on XBL? Nats are open etc. It is impossible to play with 2 people only with how enemies cheese.

I had this issue last night. We tried changing single parameters in the custom match settings like map and enemy type. Seemed to do the trick.

By known I meant many people already voiced the same issue.

Fuck if I know whether Bioware will address that tho, haha.

I couldn't get into a game where it didn't rubberband and run like trash the whole time, just went back to single player. It's painful. Then people drop halfway through since they can't deal with it and give up.

No way in hell I'm gonna be able to do the Bronze Apex mission with +1000 enemy melee vs kett and this lag. What kind of psychopath thought that combination was a good idea.

I've tried hosting a couple of times myself, at first I thought it was broken but it seems to take a couple of minutes before people have a chance of trickling in and once that happens it tends to fill up real fast. That said, another time I tried I think it sat there for 15 mins with no result.

Yeah even on PC hosting public is weird. A friend and I sat in a lobby for over five minutes with no hits (created public from the start, not private changed over), so I started the game and it filled within a minute. I'd suggest trying that on a lower difficulty where you aren't wasting boosters to see if that works out for you guys.

I've been really liking the Turian Soldier. Considering one of my favorite late cycle characters from me3mp was the n7 destroyer, this is a good variant. Gonna go ahead and max him out. Wish I could roll a better assault rifle, but the Revenant has been tearing up in silver.

Anyone know how much difference a partial extraction vs a full extraction makes?

Also, if you're dying on the platform, does it count as an extraction?

Playing in bronze the difference is 1000 credits. In Silver, I've been lucky enough to always have full extraction..
Also, dying in he floor count as partial extraction

Dying on the floor counts as not being in the LZ. If four are in but one is down you get the three man extraction bonus. And why I can tell you with 100% certainty that being down does not count as being in the LZ is because in one game NONE of my teammates were in the LZ, I made it in but died with a second left and literally had no time to react and pick myself up and we failed the mission.

On another note does anybody feel like strike mission projected success odds are BS? I fail way more than 20% of the bronze 10 point Apex missions when they are projected at 80-90% chance of success. In general I feel like I fail more than 20% of bronze missions, but it seems even worse with Apex missions.

Anyone have tips for playing Asari Sentinel? I'm loving the backlash power. Making enemies kill themselves with reflected bullets is immensely satisfying.

I recommend my tutorial, it really works:
Tip how to be host and have players in your match and on your settings.

Create APEX mission from custom game on difficulty you want to play, pick the most recent one.
Join by yourself to a game and start playing.
If you wont to get any players till end of Wave 2, redo the whole procedure.
After you finish APEX, just switch to the settings you want to play.
Because you already have players in your match you are automatically picked as a priority host in matchmaking, so getting new ones if even someone will leave will be instantaneous.

I pulled an ultra rare human kineticist this morning. What makes it good compared to just a regular biotic? (if i have these classes right)

Who in the WORLD thought it was a good plan to have the freaking buttons for Kick/Mute/(Un)Ready etc in the lobby fly around to different positions all the time? It's infuriating
I don't like to speak in hyperbole but whoever is responsible for this should be fired. It's terrible.

I keep finding new classes I want to play, still haven't fully levelled a character to 20 yet. Angaran Insurgent is really fucking fun to play, basically the Talon Merc from ME3 but much tankier and a really strong support class on gold. Also got the uncommon turian soldier, and overcharge with a Tempest is pretty good at melting everything. I almost feel like the skillset is superior to the Havoc Soldier - fortify helps with sustaining fire and frags help when things get too close.

Haven't gotten it yet myself, but pull+throw combos are fun, and Ascension mode seems neat.

Turn on backlash the next time an ascendant shoots their orange orb at you ;)

Loving the multiplayer so far. Does have its issues for sure, bad lag at times, people not joining me as host (but from that discovered I could solo bronze), and crashes to dash on console.

It definitely needs work but I can have fun with it in its current state. I just pray this receives as much attention post release as ME3.

Looking for people to play with, UK for lag reasons, on Xbox One. Playing as a human vanguard, level 8.

Played an APEX mission, beat it, full extraction.
Only got normal XP, not the double XP I should have had with the bonus item I used. And no credits.
I'm done using bonus equipment until they get this shit fixed.

The one hit kill takedowns are terrible design in a game with this much jank/lag.

I'm enjoying this, but it's just nowhere near as solid as ME3 MP. A little bit disappointed...

Question About Strike Teams:
I have a level 20 team, no negative traits. They are basically guaranteed at this point to succeed on bronze/silver missions, but gold missions still show a 55%-ish success rate. I'd love to buy some equipment to bump that % up where I'm less likely to get a negative trait, but having a hard time figuring out what I should invest in. My positive traits are currently:

  • Virtuous
  • Outlaw Specialist
  • Elite
  • Bloodthirsty
  • Precise

I'm finding it hard to parse out what does what and why certain equipment is more expensive than others when they show the same effectiveness bonus...

The only issue I have with the OHK enemies is the Ascendant because of their teleport. All the other OHK heavies are slow enough that you can generally avoid getting trapped by it, even with the occasional lag.

But that Ascendant man.....I think I've died more to that asshole than all other deaths combined. And largely due to lag cancelling my dodges/jumps out of his surprise death balls. That one definitely needs to be tweaked.

What's up with every gold lobby being 3 level ones with an apex score of 400 total? I'm so tired of this game being janky that I bought Gears of War 4 Ultimate for my xbox.

Yeah, non of that stuff makes any since. Once piece is 300 space bucs while another is 150 and adds the same points. It just seems tacked on and not even tested or giving a thought. Just something to get players to spend real money on to buy those space bucs.

Lag is also depended on framerate of host's game, which would explain a lot of lags.
People definitely are not playing on optimal setting to have stable 60+ framerate, thats for sure.

But You cannot buy Mission Points with Andromeda Points...

I don't think lag (or latency?) has anything to do with the hosts framrate... please drop the education on me if required.

Throwing people off the map is what makes it good. Put someone in pull, push them off the map, instant kill on things that don't have shields.

When it comes to apex gear look at it in game instead of the app. Some are only useful for specific traits on missions instead of all the time. Still not going to buy any of it ever though.

I'm assuming that something like Night Vision goggles isn't just +20 effectiveness (general) but +20 effectiveness only to Strike MIssions happening at night...so I would guess that the really expensive gear that costs more for the same +20 effectivness is in an area that comes up more often in missions? But I don't actually know if that assumption is correct. Even if it just showed what % you'd jump before buying, that'd go along way, because Mission Funds are a slow grind for something you can so easily just piss away on unexplained things.

I hosted a game today with a friend being in the game. I alt tabbed it for a second, which put MEA in background mode and reduces framerate to like 20 or something, it immediately lagged the game from what my friend told me.

You can sort of accomplish this with a human adept too with a long press on the pull hotkey; you can melee them when they arrive next to you to send them a small distance or you can manipulate physics and use their momentum as you pull them towards you to send them off the map. It's a lot easier on the kineticist, of course.

Has anyone tried the shield draining rank 6 pull?

Wow, I alt tab all the time. Had no idea it might be affecting games I host. Thanks for the tip.
