Heads up, Monster Hunter Stories will have a demo in the US released next Thursday on the 8th.

Meanwhile, August is the month where my game schedule starts to pick up. Sonic Mania's LE is pre-ordered & debating Mario + Rabbids (really hope a demo for that comes out) along with one or two Non-tendo stuff.

I'm hyped about this month - Mario + Rabbids, Sonic, a double dip on Ironcast is likely, and Slime-San are on my pickup list.

I finally grabbed Might Gunvolt Burst since the DLC started to drop. I'm really enjoying it, snappy controls and interesting level design.

Shephy is interesting - but if you aren't tied to getting a single player card game on the Switch I would recommend Friday or Onirim instead. I must note that the story is amazingly bizarro.

I had a board game party with extra time at the end so I grabbed Astro Duel Deluxe. Maybe a bit overpriced but the three of us played for over an hour and we were laughing almost the whole time. Worth it for me, it will definitely get pulled out for parties.

I spent way too much time unlocking all the stages for Super Bomberman R (the newest patch allows you to grind out coins against the CPU pretty quickly). I'm hoping to have some friends over to play soon. The controls are much improved (it had a slippery feeling before the patches and you'd often over-run your intended position).

I've apparently dropped 25+ hours into Splatoon 2. Can't wait to play more.

I never played Monster Hunter games before, is there any reason to play 3 or 4 first? Or should I just skip to Generation?

4 is a lot easier for a newcomer to get a handle on than Generations, plus there are way fewer boring quests at the beginning.

So GAF, I'm currently having a blast with Graceful Explosion Machine, and I wanted to ask: are there some other shooter games coming to Switch? I'm particularly interested in twin-stick-shooter as a genre, but I feel like everything shooting-related would be absolutely great on this console.

If I'm not wrong, I'm aware that RIVE and a Danmaku Unlimited are going to release sometimes this year (?). Something else?

10Tons are bringing a lot of their stuff to switch, which mostly consists of twin stick shooters. Tesla vs Lovecraft, Jydge, Neon Chrome etc

I'd like to echo this - Graceful Exploding Machine has instantly become one of my favorite shmups. I recently started playing it on a road trip this past weekend, and the 2.5-hr ride each way was seeming over in an instant! The varied weapons and their limitations keep the gameplay fresh and exciting. The music is good and the graphics are pleasing. Going for that elusive S-rank is a mix of keeping the multipliers going while avoiding death, and it's keenly addictive! I'd highly recommend a play of this if you are a fan of shmups.

I'll second this, been playing Slime-San today on Switch and it's just superb. Hooked me straight away like Super Meat Boy did. Seems to be plenty of content in the game, and the town area is a great addition with plenty to buy/unlock.

Best thing i can say is that the controls feel perfect and speed running is fantastic. Haven't felt this way about intuitive controls and levels just made for blitzing through since Rayman Origins, which imo has masterful level design for speed running purposes.

Don't sleep on this one guys, it's sub(s)lime!

Oh god I hope that 'Y button = enemy turn” on Mario + rabbids has a confirmation dialog. Too easy to accidentally press and lose your turn..

That's just a companion app for Pac-Man VS to allow you to play with a person that owns Namco Museum.

Don't know how long the game is but here's a rundown of content i know so far.

There are 100 levels each with 4 screens each, so you could say 400 screens. Each screen has an apple to collect, each level has a speed run trophy. There are also boss levels.

There is a large hub town to look around and spend the currency buying cosmetic items (I'm sporting Donald trump style "Presidential Hair" atm) as well where you unlock new playable characters, screen filters, multiplayer arcade games etc

Once you complete the game the ng+ mode remixes the 100 levels creating 400 more screens for you to play through.

There are also other dedicated modes such as one death mode. Can't remember the other 3.

All in all, there is a shit load of content and that's before the Kraken DLC gets patched in for free :)

Blaster Master Zero DLC is up in Japan for free. The DLC no one asked for but ended up being neat anyway. The game now has five different character playthroughs + Destroyer and Infinite Mode.

There's some "Fun with Words" party game that says it's coming on Thursday. I already forgot the name of it. It looks like a Jack Box Party game where you use your cell phone to participate as well.
