Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation (Vita) revealed in Game Informer, [Large Update In OP]

There is one screen of gameplay and concept art
Graphics look great,lots of pedestrians.

Between the setting and the description of pedestrian tech, it sounds to me like they're probably taking as much as they can from AC3 and reusing chunks of it? I would have guessed that the whole thing was a reskinned/rewritten version of the setting of AC3 with a new character (ala the GTA Stories games on PSP), but you're saying New Orleans is the setting so that's ruled out. I'm not sure where they're going to be able to condense development in order to make this affordable and good on the schedule, but hopefully they have reasonable means of doing a good product.

I'm not surmising anything about the devs. I'm surmising something about their track record. There are plenty of talented, hard-working devs whose output are poor games. I wouldn't insult anyone working for this team, who I'm sure are the utmost professionals.

From the list of their titles (Ubisoft Sofia is also credited as Ubisoft Bulgaria if people look it up, but that's pretty much the bulk of it,) I'm not sure what titles are poor? There's nothing special about any of them, and there's nothing to suggest they can handle something as huge as as AC project, but I see less poor-workmanship and more just games I don't care about. Have they actually produced stinkers, or is that a fair assessment that they've just been in the minor leagues for their history.

(And it's not at all fair to credit them for just "tech work" on GR:SW, Julian Gollop actually works out of that office, he's one of its earliest employees and has worked there since 2006.)

So after a bunch of yeoman work, Ubisoft is handing them something significant... I don't know if we can say whether they can handle it or not. I'm more concerned at this point who the producer and storywriter is and what the budget/development time is, my fears are more on the Ubisoft production end than the developer.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Well at least it sounds interesting.

Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for Vita at E3.

Yeah i just got the latest gameinformer and it has a preview of Assassins Creed 3:Liberation
For vita also stars a Female assassin!

•Its out same day as AC3 (oct30)
•Location is New Orleans
•Female assassin named Aveline
•Looks like same time period as AC3
•ubisoft sofia is devolping
•takes place during 1765-1780 in the period between the end of the french and indian war
•one of the bullet points is that it's "true AC gameplay"
•will not connect to desmond
•will have "multiplayer specifically tailored to the vita experience"
•"the game has been released as a propaganda tool by Abstergo, who want players to experience a gray area of the Assassin/Templar conflict as an assassin rather than a templar"
•Aveline's mentor is an escaped slave named Agate, leader of the assassins in New Orleans

•Wildlife like alligators "wait on the banks of the swamp or hide beneath murky waters"
•Liberation will also take players across the Gulf into Mexico"
•Game will take place in "Large gameplay areas, you can run, climb, fight, and explore the entirety of New Orleans without loading a new area."

It says she's of mixed heritage french/black

can you clear this up because it doesnt make sense to me.

Were you not always playing as assassins in the other AC games ? (I've only played 1 and 2)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Okay, the image in the scan looks pretty good, at least graphically.

Out the same day? So the same day everyone who cares about the series already has to drop $60?

Moronic.

I agree. I remember a few years ago, when Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines was released simultaneously with Assassin's Creed II. Even though I had originally preordered both games with the intention of getting them at the same time, I opted to pick up only AC2 at release, and grabbed Bloodlines a few weeks later.

i think they want to not use a templar as a main character as not to "deceive" the people into them being the good guys but more of supplying a gray area through the eyes of this assassin.

On one hand, I'm kinda happy I probably don't have to buy a Vita for this since it's Ubisoft Sofia and they don't really instill confidence in this product.

On the other hand I'm sick and tired of publishers spreading out franchises over thousands of different platforms and formats.

There was another PSP game with "Liberation" in its title. It did not end well.

Hopefully it turns out to be a nice complement to the Vita's library.

Get better taste. Killzone: Liberation was awesome.

Anyway, if they manage to pull this off even to AC1 or Revelations mediocre standards and price it appropriately (aka, not the same price as the full game), I'll probably pick it up. I've no clue why they'd tailor multiplayer specifically for the Vita though, surely AC3 and Liberation's multiplayer would cannibalise each other? Ideally they'd figure out a way to get AC3's multi in there and have cross platform play.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
If the City-Overview shot is ingame than wow - the heroine looks pretty dope as well.

You're doing a great job.

If you're interested in sharing any UE4 info btw I'm more than happy to give you another thread.

I would be really surprised if this screen is ingame... Looks not even like a bullshot to me, more a cgi concept art.

Isn't this port begging?
I've been wondering what goes under "port begging", can a moderator explain? I thought it was more in the line about talking like "this game would be so much better if it was on (insert system name here) instead", not just saying that one wish the game was on another platform.

Damn... that actually looks pretty nice and I like that character design (still prefer the Connor look though). FUCK! I don't want a vita. :(

She can use a whip apparently.

Now all I need is Borderlands Vita and I have my new main console. So many great upcoming games.

Better be native resolution.

I really wanted a female protagonist in an AC game (just seemed like a series that could really do it well) so I would be all over this game if I had a Vita, was considering a Vita, or was not already dropping $60 (plus whatever a Wii U costs) to get ACIII proper. Same-day release as ACIII does not seem like a good decision.
