New Halo 4 Screenshots (Grunt new design revealed)

So the elites have broken their truce with humans? Or was that truce only applicable to a certain sect of elites? I need to replay Halo 3.

The theories of the Elites attacking you in the beginning of H4 so far are:

1)Some type of rogue fleet of Elites (aka pirates)
2)Elites that are unaware of the truce brokered and that the war is over
3)The truce has since broken down between Elites and humans

The GI Information has me skeptical. I know Frankie said they would clarify a lot of things but it kinda "de-hyped" me for the game. No beta is odd (considering Reach and Halo 3 had one). I know there are new enemies, I just don't want old ones too. I want 100% only new enemies. I don't want to fight the same guys again is what I was trying to get at and this has me just worried.

I think it almost seems obvious what is going to happen. Chief will wake up from cryosleep, these rogue Covenant forces will land on the ship and chief will fight them and it will feel like classic Halo battles, then just when you get comfortable you will crash onto Requiem and the battles will be dramatically different because you are coming from just fighting the elites you are used to. Plus it will mirror the Halo 1 Pillar of Autumn-->Halo sequence, hopefully recreating that sense of wonder when you crash from Halo 1 as well.

One group tries to live in peace besides Humans. (The group who follow Thel 'Vadamee) Another group thinks that the Humans are still scum. They're trying to prevent the first groups plan. Otherwise this group can be just scavengers too.

It is not really explained in the games yet. You get this story content in the book Halo: Glasslands. But you do not have to read it for understanding the game. 343i says that the game is independent.

To the Halo lore specialists...

Do people think that the events (mainly the Oni interrogation and the ending) in Halo Primordium take place after the events of Halo 4? I'm still convinced that the Didact and the Lifeshaper will be central to the events of Halo 4 but where the hell did the Monitor come from in Primordium?

Pics look great. Can't wait for the campaign in this one and really hoping the multiplayer is a return to form.

Oh my god, we can also color our BR gold!

Have you ever had a post here that wasn't blatantly sarcastic?

Edit: Ironically I accidentally quoted the incorrect post, and the one I did quote was you not being scarcastic. Some force out there is trying to tell me to be nicer to Over.

Because a few people haven't read the book and maybe will because of the Halo 4:
The game trilogy is called Reclaimer Trilogy. So it is heavily hinted that it is about the Forerunner. If the Chief crosses the Librarian paths in the game, it'd be likely that we face that monitor. The monitor is looking for the Librarian.

The redesigns look awesome and the execution stunning. The artistic vision and chops are strong over at 343 apparently.

This is pretty much how it's described in the GI article. They wanted to ease players back into the world with something they are comfortable with before they turn the player on their head after landing on the planet.

Thats a great idea.

Grunts and elites are back? I thought we finished the fight. :/

Also, why are the colors so dull? I always liked the bright colors in the series.
Right? Bring back that purple please. Even in Halo:CE Anniversary, it doesn't seem to have that same "its 2000 and its the future" feel. And yeah, why keep changing them? I know that they want to do there own thing, but is there a reason for them just to have no armor? Or are these just artist renditions before actually applying armor?

Quick and crude (if someone can do this better please do it!)-

The new design is growing on me a lot, but I am not a fan of the new hands/feet at all.

Different color skins for weapons confirmed?

Looks normal to me..

The biggest theory now is they're some sort of rogue faction, similar to nomads or pirates maybe. They just scrounge whatever armor available.

Since the Prophets are not the leaders of the remaining parts of the Covenant, the remaining forces are developing themselves back. They can't build new ships, new weapons. They will use everything they can get.

Are we talkin' time skip?
3-4years passed away since Halo 3. The prophets and the Engineers vanished, the Elites, Brutes and the other races of the former Covenant relayed too much on the Prophets and the Engineers. They were the brute force who had fought for the Prophets. They do not know how to create, how to repair because the Engineers did this job. Now both are gone. The stage of development has thrown back in a short time. They savage a lot of stuff to repair their ships but how that stuff works is unknown for them. Everything is stated in the book Glasslands. 343i still has to explain it in Halo 4 for non-Readers.

Curious about the lack of breathing mask for the Grunts.

Love it otherwise, the visuals are detailed and clean. Cortana's new look is nice.

Haven't played Reach on an HDTV for a while (college, yay), but I'm preeetty sure that's a bullshot as far as the models go.

Not gonna disagree that Reach looked fantastic already though. I'm expecting a much cleaner, clearer, and sharper image with Halo 4 though, what with native 720p and FXAA. And Halo 4's lighting is on a whole other level.

Halo 4 looks amazing, but it will look worse than Reach in certain areas, just like Reach looked worse than Halo 3 in some areas, but overall blew it away.

No matter what magic they work, Halo 4 is still running on 2005 harware.

The Spartan models he posted are not bullshots as far as models, they are theater mode shots. Only difference is Resolution and AA. The models and textures in Reach are pretty amazing.
