Can I also just point out how totally rediculous it is that this is the way Sony "announces" this for the first time?

A prime example of SCEA not giving the Vita the marketing it needs / deserves in the US.. It's like SCEA are the only ones that don't want people to know about the device.. I can only imagine how great they market it to third party developers.. :/

so sad about the general situation for my favorite console ever.

Will the screen look as good as my Nexus 4? If so, I'll totally get this over the OLED version.

My wife has the Nexus 4 and I own the Sony Xperia Z1s, both LCD but IMO, the Xperia looks better. Its the closest I can reach for comparison.

It could use some IPS though, hopefully the Vita 2k doesn't lack.

According to Koller, vice president of marketing for Sony Computer Entertainment America, the PS Vita version of Borderlands 2 will feature four-player cooperative play and cross-platform compatibility with save games from the original PlayStation 3 version of the game. It will also include six downloadable add-ons that Gearbox Software has released to this point.
All of that was previously unannounced, right? I was expecting a game just different enough that cross-platform compatibility would be off the table.

...so how long until we see Borderlands 2 Definitive Ed. for PS4, continuing the save game compatibility, with all DLCs bundled, and PhysX particles?

I'm guessing $199 USD including Borderlands 2 GOTY Vita Edition with all Preorder and bonus DLCs.
...
I wish.

If they are bothering to bring it over then at least keep the price point something that won't make everyone laugh.

I bought a Vita on its launch date, but if this version is priced competitively, I might buy this kind for permanent eventual PS4 Remote Play tethering, and outfit it with the must comfortable grips.

Borderlands 2 bundle has me considering this a lot more seriously than I thought I'd ever consider a Vita. If it turns out to be a good port, I might cave.

I don't get what's so massively bad about the Vita, and why people hate on it so much

the device is an absolutely stunning mobile game device, and this is from someone who hated the PSP.

Sony make the fucking thing cheaper with an included big memory card and I'm yours. $150 with a 16gb mem card. That's all I ask.

Those of us waiting on the $150 pricetag should keep an eye out on possible firesales for the 1000 model in the coming months.

The only thing I dislike is the memory card crap, there's a lot of games I want to play on one but for some reason I haven't bought one.

I want the Vita but I don't want Borderlands 2. Honestly confused why they didn't do a Minecraft bundle. Something like that would definitely help sales.

Guess I'll be waiting till they sell an individual Vita 2000 on it's own or for a different bundle.

Damn. I literally just bought pristine condition Vita from someone yesterday for $150.00 flat. Although, I did want the OLED screen and it came with a free case and protectors on both sides.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Yeah, this is actually better than what SCEE did. I fear it won't change so much the destiny of the console in US, though: in that territory, its dead status is unprecedented. It'll do something for one month / one month and a half, though.

This is what I'll be doing.

I have no interest in BL2, and would prefer an OLED Vita anyway. Here's hoping the prices of the 1000 series drop, as I've missed out on numerous sales on them in the past.

People have convinced themselves that the Vita's existence and investment into game development is somehow hampering the PS4's potential to succeed.

They've never been able to quantify just how it does this - but they feel the Vita should be stamped out, crushed and abolished and then all sorts of exclusive games will materialize for PS4 that would not have otherwise existed.

This lunacy is why people hate on the Vita so much. (That and memory card prices.)
