MGS:GZ - Looks and Performs a lot better on PS4...

By you logic..

Microsoft pissed:
-DICE
-Infinity Ward
-SE
-2K
-Ubisoft
-EA
..and all multiplat devs that has a game on the Xbone and PS4.

riiighht...

You misunderstand me.

I am talking more about Kojima over the past month or so seemingly pushing the PS4 version with his comments about the game.

Sony should add a new description on all multiformat titles...

That's probably a political disaster waiting to happen. Probably for the best for third parties that it isn't advertised and we just get sites like Digital Foundry highlighting just how extreme the difference is.

Yes, I understood what you meant :)

And you are right. It's very odd that he's openly promoting the PS4 version like this. These comments are taken from a Japanese quote I believe so perhaps it's exclusive on PS4 in Japan?

Guess because he is one of FEW devs out there that actually speaks the truth and dont want to lie to his fans?

PS4 is a beast compared to Xboned and Multiplat will ALWAYS look and run better on PS4, its fact. Some devs I guess just dont have the balls to talk the truth about Xboned.

Well X1 doesn't have a launch date so yeah its exclusive by default.

At the end its all about being able to play it, the little bit fps / visual difference probably doesn't interesting 95% of the gamers that bought a console to start with.

Then why get it on next gen at all?

While I agree that graphics and framerate isn't the be all and end all because a shit game can still be made regardless, there are people who shit on indies or deem backwards compatibility pointless because they don't want to play "old" games on new hardware, new tech should bring new expectations, there has to be a middle ground to this line of thinking and what we should want as the new baseline for games.

He did the same with the PS3 (criticising the power). He has expectations in his head of what he wants to create and if the tech doesn't allow that he will complain.

Kojima Productions just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Xbox culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in PlayStation Land where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Xbox Town, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Xbox public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Ground Zeroes for either system, nor will they purchase any of Kojima's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Kojima has alienated an entire market with this move.

Kojima, publicly apologize and cancel Ground Zeroes for PS4 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Hey , hey , HEY !

ooohhhhhh you naughty you ;)

Was the board like this when the OG Xbox was much more powerful than the PS2?
I can't remember people making such a big deal about framerate/resolution back then... but I remember by the gen after that there was a big deal made about the Xbox 360 multiplats looking and performing better than PS3 and the difference was more minimal than Xbone and PS4.

Not sure. I don't think it's reserved for Sony fans. It's usually the last-gen underdogs. I'm sure all the butthurt Xbox One fans will be exactly the same if the next Xbox is more powerful than the PS5.

What was surprising about a console that came out over a year later and more expensive being more powerful? This time, the cheaper console is more powerful, and has come out at the same time. That's why there is more talk about graphics comparisons..

It even got announced before. It's crazy and pretty unprecedented. I don't think it's ever happened before, has it?

Wasn't he trying to play down the power difference between the two consoles at some point? Guess he's finally realized that there's no point in continuing to spin it.

I only lurked GAF back in those days, but the quick answer is no. The PS2 and GameCube people, on the other hand, were the ones butting heads. The Xbox gained popularity early on for getting a lot of Dreamcast sequels. It also wasn't really taken seriously until much later, as EA's games didn't support XBL at first.

This isn't actually true, at least early in the generation. Early third party ports were an absolute wreck on PS3. Tearing out the ass, super blurry textures, low frame rates, Vaseline everywhere... It really wasn't until a few years had passed where they mostly on parity with each other.

IMO, the differences we are seeing now are much less than what we saw then. There's no doubt the PS4 looks better, but at least most of the Xbone games don't have eye bleeding tearing and horrendous, unplayable frame rates. Those early PS3 games were really, really bad.

If it's the better version and he's telling us about it, that's just being a nice sport.

This diplomatic ambiguity most developers feel forced to abide by to not ruffle any feathers is just annoying as a customer. Especially when it's blatantly obvious that one console's more powerful than the other. Since it is blatantly obvious I guess it doesn't really need to be said, but it's still nice to hear a developer not being all vague and secretive about it.

As expected. This will be the case with every multiplat this generation, unless the dev intentionally makes it not so (or isn't very competent). If you have a PS4 and an XBO you should be buying every multiplat for PS4, and if you're only gonna get one console it should be a PS4 unless you simply can't live without MS's few exclusive series.

not so much - I think the time difference might have helped, or the sheer size of the PS2 catalogue by then.

PS360 gen was just like this though - Xbox 360 having better ports, PS3 fans going all CELL secret sauce. Only real difference is that the CELL kind of was secret sauce, just took them a long time to get that sorted out.

Nothing unexpected here. Cross gen games shouldn't have any problems on the PS4. I just wished this game wasn't 40$ :(

Those DF versus thread never were that big though.

...because it's easier to accept that Kojima purposely sabotaged the Xbone version rather than that the PS4 is more powerful than the One?

But Kojima was the one that publicly said they were about equal in terms of power. Obviously this guy is full of shit. I believe nothing from his mouth

Did the media, developers and PR clowns try and downplay there wasn't any difference as well?

This circus will roll on and on unless NDA's are abandoned and there's honesty and disclosure about what the nitty gritty of the actual specs are. Have you read a GPU review or even a mobile phone review? Consumers spending $500 should have a right to know exactly what they're getting for their money.

Could Sony do that? I mean legally? Is there anything preventing the no to? (Aside from their intention to appear humble this generation?)

That could be a tool for them to use graphical advantages as a marketing tool.

IMO it was at its worst during DC:pS2 time (probably worse than now too) - XBox picked up some of the DC defense force, but by then the sales-war was already over.

The Xbox One version will always be the superior version. Game sleeves are green (green is the color choice for smart people) and the disk is held on the opposite side of the case to challenge your mind.

That's true for sure, but 9%? That seems incredibly low for the main part of the game. Maybe there are 45 collectables at 2% each :p

Could also be the two difficulty settings. Maybe if you choose one and complete it again on hard or normal afterwards, it raises the percentage by another 9%. This would make sense considering Kojima said there were only 5 side ops on twitter, I think he would have jumped to tell us there was more missions if it meant that. So that and/or collectibles I think.

This is not news anymore...this will be true Each and EVERYTIME on all games unless gimped/mirrored across both..that said I think the X1 Raiden mission looks more fun than the PS4- ps1 Model which
We enjoyed anyway in MGSIV.
so I am still torn on which to buy, MGS only feels right on a Sony machine and Full 1080/60 makes it the better experience...Damn you Kojima I may need to double dip on this!!!

Pay more to play the worse version of games: only on Xbox One™

This trend will continue this entire generation.

You misunderstand me.

It makes sense to push the best looking/running version of your game as it shows it off in the best light. Now matter how good the Xbox one version may look, you'll likely attract more attention when pushing an even better looking version.

Guess because he is one of FEW devs out there that actually speaks the truth and dont want to lie to his fans?

I wouldn't really call it a beast comparatively, this isn't a ps2 -> Xbox difference here. Better ps4 versions is something people should expect to consistently hear though.

I think this is the final straw for me, i will go with PS4 first when i manage to find a new job!.

I always buy both Xbox and Playstation consoles (why miss out on all those exclusives?) but i am more of an Xbox fan because of the controller and i prefer their exclusives but the power difference is having a much bigger effect in games than i honestly thought was possible.
