Is this for Windows 8 phones and tablets only? I don't have an update for Android.

For Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 so far. However, everytime I click on Friends on either my phone or PC, the Smartglass app crashes. Just tried it on the older iPad version and it works just fine

I'm not sure if this is new, but in the Friends app when you go to Followers, there's a little friend icon on the upper right corner of each Gamerpic to show you which people you follow back. Pretty helpful!

I enjoy finally getting control over my surround sound again. I remember setting up Kinect's audio and heard full surround in my 5.1 setup. I don't know where it was removed, but it's good to see 5.1 via HDMI again.

Thank you based update.

Just checked my messages and realised I had an invite in my inbox from two weeks ago.. hah.

One thing I just thought of that I think would be a great addition is Friend nicknaming/tagging.

After adding a few people from GAF I realised that whilst I know where they added me from, I might forget. And there are always those few friends on your list from a year or so back that pop up or you invite them and forget how you know them. This is the internet after all, you make new friends, sometimes you drift apart, such is the world. It'd be great if you could remind yourself who is who (especially when Gamertag's are often so obscure) with a custom tag. Similar to how Steam lets you nickname people completely, only maybe not so extreme.

So you could tag anyone from GAF with 'NeoGAF' or someone from Reddit or wherever, and it'd show up next to their GT. Or if you got chatting with someone whilst shootin' it up on CoD and added them, you could tag them as CoD Ghosts, and in a year you'll remember that you became buddies through CoD. Of course your real life and close friends you don't necessarily need to tag because you aren't likely to forget them but even so you could use it and tag them with their nicknames if you so choose.

Just my suggestion. I don't know if there is an actual place to submit ideas to Microsoft but please enlighten me if you know. I wondered whether or not to make a thread about the idea but it isn't really worth it so here seemed the most logical place to post it.

At some point we were supposed to be able to display our real names to certain people. It got pushed to a later date due to time constraints but something like "nicknaming" should be added with that.

Just caught the heads up on the new build too.
How are the Twitch tests going on? This streamer is from Canada.

I submitted a potential management issue.
Since the HDD deletes saves when the game is nuked..if you are offline does that mean you have no more saves?

Is anybody else's Twitch app showing a bunch of lines of file location stuff now? It's not causing any issues, its just weird.

Also where are my Crunchyroll and HBO Go apps Microsoft....

Did you get the MS headset or are you just using the adapter with another headset?
Adapter with Astro A50's but after more testing the voice chat on my end is perfect when in the "Dashboard" but it's a little distorted when playing a games...trying to figure out what the problem is.

This guy is broadcasting off the Xbox Twitch app for anyone interested http://www.twitch.tv/alternagod1
Quality is pretty good, which is good news. I've been disappointed in the quality of streams from the PS4, so good to hear that it looks like Twitch made sure that wasn't an issue with the X1 (possibly due to Twitch developing the app themselves compared to Sony developing it for the PS4).

One of the Xbox guys (I think it was Albert) replied to a tweet a while ago about HBO GO saying that they will publish the app once HBO finishes development and submits it to them.

Major Nelson is running some Twitch streaming right now

Only the broadcaster voice is heard during streaming if you have party chat on while streaming.

edit: Seems like they are backing off the update coming out tomorrow. Seems like it's going to be like the last update

Major's stream doesn't look bad at all.

I wish Smartglass could handle chat, you can snap it if you want but it sounds like he has it running on his Surface through the Twitch website.

Yeah hopefully they add Smartglass integration is added for chat in the future.

Few things I've noticed Major has shared (not sure if they are new):
-Twitch will run a test and recommend quality to stream, but I think he said you still have manual control over the quality if you'd like.
-You can choose any of the four corners to show Kinect video of yourself
-You get toast notifications showing the number of people watching the stream

It looks decent I guess. What's the quality difference between ps4 and xbo live streaming?

So major Nelson live stream is:

Stream Info

Resolution: 1280x720
Frame Rate: 30 FPS
Audio: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 147 kb/s
Total Bitrate: 2663 kbps
Padding: None
Stream Uptime: 0h 2m 41s

Along with you can't broadcast any of the home screen, it goes to the placeholder screen which looks awesome and mutes voice.

Kinect commands still work.

You can use either a headset or kinect for your voice and you can adjust audio through a mixer in the app.

Toasts aren't shown to viewers it would appear.
