Run Button: Dedicated your thumb on the circle pad

Note to Players: In each level you have to collect 5 flowers, 20 red coins and 30 star-points. If you get to the end of the level with one or more of these categories cleared, the game 'remembers' that and you only have to clear the remaining categories during you next runs in order to get to 100%. However, if you, for instance, collect two flowers on one run, it does not suffice to collect the remaining three flowers on your next run.

Right after the events of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, the couple to whom the Stork gave Baby Mario and Baby Luigi allege that the brothers are not their babies. It goes on searching for the real parents, when it finds Kamek wanting to steal the babies once more. Again, he proceeds to take only Baby Luigi away, and Baby Mario falls on the nearby Egg Island. He is found by a group of Yoshis who decide to take him to his brother and defeat Baby Bowser, since he is planning to turn Egg Island into his vacation home.

Please note that Baby Bowser is not the same character as Bowser Jr. The Baby Bowser in this game is actually Bowser, as a baby. The Baby Bowser with the fashionable diaper is actually Bowser's son, Bowser Jr. Phew! Glad we cleared that up.

Definitely waiting on reviews and other feedback before I spend money on this. I love, love, love the original Yoshi's Island, but I thought YS and YIDS were terrible.

I don't get why the Yoshi's don't just let Bowser have that island for his summer home. What are they gonna do with two whole islands? Maybe he'd have been less of a dick when he grew up.

I'm pretty interested in this game, but Yoshi's foot size is driving me nuts. The in game model doesn't match the artwork at all.

I'm one of the (apparently few) that enjoyed Yoshi's Island DS but this thing doesn't interest me at all. Some of the screenshots are ugly enough with the clashing models (except, i guess, the one with the water enemy).

What a shame, but this had a lot of potential...

EDIT: official artwork is beautiful, though. It wasn't well translated to the game...

Ahh I was waiting for the OT, looks nice!. I love the promotional artwork of this game, wish they could have implemented that art style into the actual game but oh well. I'm honestly excited to play this game. Takashi Tezuka produced it so at least we can expect to enjoy some quality level design and challenge.

Pretty excited for this, sometimes I feel like the only one. I liked Yoshi's Island DS and this looks like more of that sans basically every problem I had with that game (music aside but the songs aren't as bad as anything in YIDS so far).

Hoping Gamefly gets it to me reasonably quickly

Watched the first hour gameplay and not sure why people are thrashing this game. Graphics are good enough and the music isn't that bad as people are saying.

*hopes second run of the game is with Baby Luigi, that would be awesome. :)*

Talk about counter-programming... jeez Nintendo. Still holding out hope the level design trumps the constant stream of bad emanating from this project since its debut. I hold many Yoshi titles in high regard, but it's probably Nintendo's least consistent franchise.

Yes. It bothers me a lot more than it should, honestly. It's gotten to the point where Bowser Jr. is literally just Baby Bowser. They're two completely different characters whose designs should not be intertwined. ...Bleh.

Baby Bowser also doesn't wear a bib, and has spikes on his wrist bands (still a bit annoyed he was given a bib in PiT). Always preferred Baby Bowser's design, honestly.

Not as far as I'm aware. I think that's just the new MSRP for some games starting with those two.

To be fair this game has "X-men first class" levels of bad marketing.

I was following this game since it was announced and today was the first time I watched a video with someone using the run button

Can't wait for some reviews.
My only complaint is about the musics but if only the first world has farts as "instrument" then I'll be happy.
Liked the remix in a later world much better.

Yeah, that bugs me as well. I kind of feel like the original game's artstyle has been lost with the transition to 3D character models. Boos, for example, are pretty stylised in Yoshi's Island, with their eyebrows and the shapes of their mouths.

In New Island, they just look like regular ol' boos. Same as how we see them in standard Mario games.

Although some characters, like our favourite phallic bean boss, appear to have that kind of expression, to me it looks like all the returning characters have lost their style.

To be honest I don't think it looks too bad. I'm not impressed but since the initial reveal I've become less critical of the game's presentation.

That said, I have almost zero interest in playing it. Yoshi's Island DS was decent but disappointing and I don't need more sub-par Yoshi games in my life. As of now I'm mostly optimistic about Yarn Yoshi but not much else.

Interested in seeing reviews, though.

I'm curious to hear what people's impressions are past the first world, but the footage of the first hour was some of the least promising video I've ever seen of a game.

I honestly don't care if anything comes off as "for babies."

People rag on Kirby's Epic Yarn for example but that's one of the most pleasant games I've ever experienced. Didn't matter that it was cute and overall easy, with a focus on collecting things.

I'm really interested how the game will be received by reviewers. I'll post some impressions when the embargo is up (though I'm probably not telling to much when I say I don't agree with the hostility in the 1-hour-video-thread)! Btw, I've also written a small overview over Yoshi's game history, albeit focussing on games where he has the leading role, either obviously by name or sneakily. It's in German though. I'm rather curious how this game is going to review. I mean, it's clearly going to be a good game, albeit a rather dull one, and New Super Mario Bros 2's reception was mostly positive despite having a similar general consensus to this one pre-release. But impressions on this game seem a lot more negative than that one. We can already guess what Gamespot think after their preview, but I wonder what everyone else will say.

What did Gamespot say? Considering it's a game for babies it should have the right degree of difficulty for them, shouldn't it? On the other hand, this game has no checkpoints during boss fights either :/.

I think jokes like this are pretty typical on GAF. I doubt anyone with real interest in the game will be very fazed by it. As for me, I love Nintendo and am eager to lay the game. It's just a good-natured joke poking fun at those with preconceived notions abut the game.
