This will more than likely be a RETAIL DISC also right? Because I bought the digital version & dlc for the PS3. (kinda wished I had bought the disc). Hopefully now I can own the PS4 disc. Oh, and is it safe to assume MULTIPLAYER is included? Kinda wish it was less than $60, but I won't judge until I see a gameplay trailer. Overall this is good news.

I don't like the $60 price tag, however TLOU sits on a very short list of games I might spend that kind of money on, so I'll consider it when we see footage of how the game looks.

Yep. Even though I'm in Canada ($70) and already shelled out for the DLC, this will be hard for me to resist double dipping on. Probably my personal favorite game of last gen.

Never have understood troll posts. Guess I missed the back pedal.

it was so over the top and I post pretty much only in Sony threads because that's what I own, so I thought it might bring some humor to the thread.

I'm sure they will have a PS+ discount or $10 upgrade program, which I'd happily jump on even before purchasing a PS4 (if it's a time limited update or something.)

isn't there only 1 story one?

Yes, and the story DLC costs 15$ in itself. But don't sleep on the multiplayer DLC, the multiplayer is fun if you give it a chance and learn how to play. The multiplayer certainly didn't feel tacked on and stayed true to what the SP felt like.

Also, the 3rd DLC includes a new difficulty mode for SP.

Yeah, about one hour long without rushing it on Normal.

What's your definition of not rushing it? It took me around three hours, but I did a fair amount of exploration to unlock all conversations and got all the diaries/audio logs. I think I played it on hard, so I died a few times. But not enough to pad the play time.

Awesome. I beat it on PS3, but on a rental so I'm okay with paying full price. Honestly I'm most excited to get into the multiplayer. I got nothing MP-wise on my PS4 and I'm not really interested in Battlefield or CoD. Just release it already, Sony.

To those complaining, stop your bitching. You don't even know what's going to be included in the full release yet. This game will only be a year old by the time that this releases too. This is one of the best game's this gen and many of you are acting like it's going to stay $60 forever. You have no obligation to buy it on release day. And if you're going to argue with me about this, I promise that I'll make you look like an idiot.

Holy crap :lol

So many complaining about full price :lol

I'll be there day one, I missed out on it due to me not owning a PS3 at the time.

What's wrong with complaining about the full price? Like I said before, this is good for the people who never played the game and wanted a PS4 version but I don't see what's wrong with raising complaints about the price.

So without knowing what's going to be in the game, it's okay to blindly love it and claim $60 is totally worth it in this thread. But, since we don't know what's in it, nobody can post negative comments, all they should do is just not buy it. And you can't discuss the launch price because games drop in price.

and you're going to make someone look like an idiot for arguing about that.

okie doke

Based on your previous posts I really shouldn't bother responding to you, but I'm going to do it anyways. Where am I blindly loving it in my post? I think it's generally agreed upon that it's one of the best game's ever produced on consoles (at least top 20). My point is why bitch about something you don't know anything about and that you're not obligated to purchase on the first day. You're acting like Last of Us came out 3 years ago.

I really don't get it. Everything they've given out for free on PS4 has been a new release on the platform. No, they haven't given you $60 new releases, but PS+ has never done that. What games do you propose they should be offering for free on PS4? PS3/Vita has literally years of games they can draw from to offer for free. PS4 has months.

Never have understood troll posts. Guess I missed the back pedal.

PS + has never given good new releases? I guess they weren't 100% fresh, but the other month PS3 got DMC & Bioshock Infinite as well as some other stuff too I think. THAT is a good freebie month. And one month it was Borderlands 2, the InFamous games, I forget everything they've offered, but they have absolutely offered big high profile games that are under a year old, for free.

What games do I propose? I don't know, I just know that right now, the PS4 offerings on + are not nearly as appealing as they are for Vita and PS3.

I would suggest offering things like PS1 classics, but those aren't even fucking playable on my high end gaming console (I can still play and download those games on my PS3 though.)

How are my posts troll posts? I feel like PS+ is a bit of a rip for PS4. You disagree, therefore I must be a troll.

Resogun, yes.

Don't starve, indie title I didn't care for at all.
Dead Nation, played it on PS3.
Outlast, played it on PC.
Mercenary Kings, not my thing.

I have only played one game from PS+ offerings, and I stopped playing it in like a week. They are certainly releasing games, just nothing that to me has made the sub feel worth it in any way.

Sorry to hear -- I would much rather take those great new games than PS+ versions of games I already paid for back at launch.

Add in the + discounts for basically every new digital release coming out so far, and + on the PS4 has been a fantastic value.

SF still costs $60 on Sony's store

https://store.sonyentertainmentnetw...fall/cid=UP9000-CUSA00190_00-KZ4RELEASE000041

And as pointed out, Sony is still charging $60 for TLoU on the PS3. Why would you expect the PS4 version, which has a lot more content, to be cheaper?

We'll see how much it will cost in retail. But i think its quite safe to assume that it will be 60$ like TR.

------------
Its not 1 year old on ps4. Its launching at the same price as Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider price was awful too.
At least in TR "defense" You could say they had to make it profitable somehow, so they inflated the price to recoup the development cost. Which is still wrong tactic in my opinion.

man I'm really hoping they have some kind of upgrade price for people who bought all these games on PS3 already, no way in hell I'm going to spend another 60 on a game I already bought and beat many times. unless I wait a very long time ..... then hopefully its much cheaper. then again many AAA games dont come down in price to often .

I wonder if they will tweak MP at all? I always viewed the 4v4 player count as a limitation not something they wanted to do since Uncharted was maxed at 5v5. Would love to see an additional player on each team and have classic matches and new matches.

This feels tantamount to people complaining about Steam sales because they already have all the games on sale.

Tomb Raider price was wrong too.

There is no such thing as a "wrong" price.

That is an outdated, empirically disproven Marxist view which proposes that value comes from the amalgamation of costs of production.

In reality, value is determined by each individual, and price is the determined by the aggregation of those into demand and supply.

I honestly just can't tell these days. These forums and the gaming media as a whole are so full of totally believed hyperbole that it boggles my mind. The line between joke and wild opinion is blurry. I'll keep that in mind should I see something from you in the future.

I would hope they would do an upgrade program of some sort for people who already own it. I don't know what a fair price is given that it isn't exactly the same for their past upgrade programs (This is a game that was developed later for PS4 owners rather than in tandem, and wasn't theoretically something a person just bought 3 weeks prior for $60), but I'm sure I wouldn't drop a full $60 on this if I'd already purchased and played it on a PS3.

The original game wasn't my cup of tea but it will be a great match for the PS4. Cleaning up some of those little details (like blurry far-away textures) will help the game maintain the general atmosphere. I hope it's a quality up-port like Wind Waker HD for those who like that sort of game.

EDIT: I should sell my TLOU before the PS4 version drops...

Didn't play it, so this will be a great game for me for the summer.
Very curious as to what and how much is improved over the PS3 version.
Surely 1080p, but beyond that? Touch screen feature added, DLC included, etc.
Hopefully there's a physical release too?

Yes people if you've played the game already YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY DAY ONE. We all know it's going to be discounted shortly after released like every other game.

I really want to pick this up but I'm not spending 69.99. That's more than I spent when the game launched last year. That's stupid, Sony. Guess I'll wait for a price drop.

I've updated my post with more detailed explanation btw.
And i agree that value of the product is subjective, still i can have opinion about price and my opinion is that its too expensive.

It will be interesting too see the cost of Metro Redux. It will contain 2 games and 4 dlcs.

PS3 version still sells for 38$ on Amazon without DLC, next time ND should make a worse game so that it would sell less and justify a discount, Neil Drukman is probably behind this price strategy.

It's basically a GOTY edition on a new system. I've never had any interest in those since they are a horrible value proposition to people who have already bought the game. Good for people who haven't bought it yet.

Of course, you are certainly allowed to be on the side of the demand curve that has a reserve price below $60. :)

Not the same. I don't pay for a Steam sub.

You also don't get new games for $0.

His point was an analogy, obviously it's not "the same". C'mon.

Yeah, about one hour long without rushing it on Normal.

Took me almost 3 hours to complete it, and according to howlongtobeat.com the average time of completion is 2hours 29mins. Speedruns may be able to get that time down to an hour or less.

Also one of the best DLCs I have ever played.

I think $60 or £40 is fair if the graphical and performance upgrades are substantial; upres, framerate, textures, character models, etc and also if all the dlc (Singleplayer and multiplayer) are included. I would also love for there to be another 2/3 hour Singleplayer episode up to the quality of left behind exclusive to PS4, or a co-op mode similar to in uncharted 3, though I am not expecting these.

If Sony starts offering my PS1 classics instead of new PS4 games, then I'll be irritated.

I don't disagree that the offerings on PS3/Vita are better, but once again, there are so many years of gaming to draw off that this is as it should be, unless your expectation is that Sony should be offering AAA games to you this early in the system's life. PS+ has had some great deals on PS3 in particular as you've pointed out, but the PS4 just doesn't have the library to be able to do that yet. I'd bet you'll see some AAA titles toward the end of the year finally end up on that list, but we're talking about a system that's been out for half a year. I think your expectations are unreasonable.

How are my posts troll posts? I feel like PS+ is a bit of a rip for PS4. You disagree, therefore I must be a troll.

Might want to go ahead and reread my post. This comment about troll posts had zilch to do with you, so let's tone down the rhetoric a bit.

I double-dipped on Tomb Raider: DE (owned on PS3) when it got to $30 and don't regret it as the improved graphics and improved framerate make a huge difference and have made me enjoy the game even more this time.

I'll more than likely do the exact same with this - wait for a sale around $30-40 and bite. $60 is just too much for me to buy an updated version of a game.

It would be a lot less of an issue if I could stick the PS3 version into the drive and pay $10 for an upgrade. I didn't feel like Tomb Raider was worth the money so soon and I likely won't pay $60 for this again.

If PS3 version cost the same, i would say port has reasonable price. But we'll see if PS3 GOTY will cost 60$.

Well that's the point... If you go out and buy TLOU with all the DLC you are looking around $93... So paying $60 is a pretty good deal with the DLC and better graphics.

Even if they knock off $30 of the original PS3 version you are still basically getting a deal

Ouch, $60. It's not terrible since the game is barely a year old and will probably include DLC. But unless they have a discount for current digital owners i'll probably wait till it drops to $30-$40.

Came in here 100% expecting that it would have been removed from the site by now but nope...

Is Sony even pretending to keep this under wraps anymore?

So tempted to do the double-dip... so so tempted. But on that note, can anyone explain how Trophies work in the case of PS3 + PS4 games like Black Flag? Do they count as separate games, or do the trophies from one carry over to the other?

EDIT: Asking because I already have the Platinum on PS3 and not sure if I want to dedicate time to getting it again for the PS4 version

I can sort of understand why folk with just a PS4 & no intentions of getting a Vita can think PS+ 'at the moment' isn't great VFM...but here's the thing, it's still better VFM than XBL.

If you don't play games online then I guess you could argue the case, but then why sub if Resogun was the on think you were interested in? Would have been better off with a months sub and re-subbing each time something came out until eventually you felt there was enough to stick with it.

I'll double dip for $60. I don't care. It'd be nice if previous owners could somehow get a discount, but I don't see how they could do it retroactively.

EDIT:

Also, Remote Play + Last of Us = Amazing!

Yeah, which is why I find it funny that people there are people who are even complaining about the price, even though they've played and beaten it on the PS3. I think a lot are hoping for that $10 upgrade.

By June time, I expect Last of Us to be at $40-45 regularly and sales that bring it to $30-35. You get the upgrade and DLC and that would pretty much be $25 totaling to around $60.

I'm SO excited for this! TLoU is my favorite game of the past generation, a true work of art.

Anyway, what's taking Sony so long in addressing the banner ad on their SEN store? What's keeping them from confirming and officially announcing this? Or, at least, remove the ad?
