I will play it but I think I will be rubbish at it. What about the F2P games, whats good?

Try resogun. Start easy and work up. It is great.

F2p games. I would avoid blacklight IMO.

Warframe is pretty damn good.

If you are looking for an mmo, DC universe is not bad.

Hold out for planet side though. That game is fucking amazing.

So it's not like Xbone is doing poorly or anything IMO.
The problem is when you take launch and holidays out of the equation.... The situation is not great. On top of that the 5m is a shipped number with anecdotal evidence from all over the world saying there are plenty on shelves (including countries where it hasn't even launched)

It's not Wii U levels of bad (yet) but it's nowhere near as healthy as MS is trying to have you believe with that 5m sold-in number.

Though frankly MS' biggest concern right now has to be launching in 20+ additional countries this year in this climate. How do you launch in a country who is completely apathetic to your product? And 20+ of them to boot.

There is, GFK, but numbers are not public.
Only on special cases like years totals, etc...

The "most powerful always loses" argument usually stems from that console being the most expensive.
That's not really true though, N64 was $100 less than the PS1, and Xbox although launching higher, was lock step with PS2's pricing for years.
The fact that that same console has a large price advantage this gen makes a massive difference.
I think it'll help, but I also think if the internals of PS4 and XBO were reversed, Sony would still be comfortably ahead.

Nothing! I said nothing!
Warframe is freaking awesome
Edit: Beaten, Also welcome to PS side i know you are mostly Xbox gamer but i hope you enjoy your PS4

I have a Vita and just sold my PS3, I usually get everything, only thing I don't have is Wii U now cause I have a 3DS and a gaming laptop.

I think release dates were a major problem with past consoles that were the most powerful. The N64 was the most powerful, but it released after Sony was already gaining momentum that Nintendo couldn't stop. For example, Final Fantasy 7 was announced for the PSone before the N64 was released anywhere. And then you of course had the issues with carts vs. CD's. With the PS2 the later release issues with the GC and Xbox are obvious. And then you had the PS3 with a number of problems. It had the later release, a very high price tag and Sony initially had difficulty actually demonstrating that it was the most powerful. So, it was more talk than proof unlike past consoles.

Personally I can't think of a generation that is really comparable to the current one. PS4 and XB1 launched within a week of each, a week.

The OG Xbox launched in November 15, 2001. PS2 released March 4, 2000

So like 18 months on the market before the Xbox launched. Pretty sure PS2 was at like 20 million sold by that point. Gamecube is similar with a Japanese release date of September 14, 2001 and US in November of 2001

Best example might be PS1 versus Sega Saturn but even then with the US release dates, Saturn was out May 11, while PS1 was out September 9th although Sega burned a lot of retailer bridges with their antics

No problem with buying PS4 in Poland:

Pic done yesterday.

I always figured Poland was more of a PC gaming place anyway. Certainly when I was there I didn't come across any consoles, although a few of my cousins did have gaming PC's of some sort.

One million sales a month. If it keeps up 9 million by E3. Excellent sales but Sony need to do whatever it takes to keep the momentum going. I'm sure they will be. Can't wait for E3.

People buying more of them for the same reasons they succeeded in West. Consoles are easy to use and confortable to play sitting in couch in front of large TV:) And when the money is not barrier any more for most of us, result is easy to predict - they gain more and more market. At big retailers stores (like BestBuy in America) console games receive similar amount of place as PC games so there must be quite an audience.

But for now PC gaming dominate. Frontrunners like Halo, Gears, Uncharted etc. cant compete with our love to cRPGs, Blizz games, clones of DOTA, CS and other more "deep" games...

That's a shitty way to put it. Plenty of people around the globe like Xbox. Kinda why version 3 got signed off on.

They'll sell a few in all locations and just add to the total.

Nobody really points out that PS is king of home consoles and it is an uphill battle to challenge their supremacy in the market.

That explains why PS3 was third place most of last generation....

wait...

What you said makes no sense. Simply comes down to what was offered. This time around Sony did better. Last gen they offered a very expensive device and was forced to play catch up, even overseas.

The name alone doesn't ensure dominance in the home market. We have been through many generations to know that isn't even remotely true.

If you end up getting retail games I'd recommend Infamous and AC Black Flag. Infamous is short but pretty fun (can always trade in when done) and AC Black Flag is the only AC game I've ever enjoyed.

Manufactured hype was a real phenomenon. It's not that the game wasn't good if you're into that mold of modern FPS (I can't play modern competitive FPS, believe they ruined the genre), but it's that they were inflating its importance. It just wasn't doing much special that the genre hadn't seen before. It was just combining one or two new things and applying ideas from a variety of FPS that have done similar things.

To quote myself from another thread:

Game will review well of course. There is too much hype surrounding it.

I still predict that the game will wear thin quickly and hind sight will treat this game the same as GTA4.

It is fun for about a few hours, then gets a tad tedious. Of course, I've never professed to be a big MP player, so maybe the game is just not for me.

I took a 30 day ban for this post, but I still stand by it. I have also said that the bump would not be profound or long lasting as MS wanted it to. It's a good game...just not the super amazing game-changing system seller that they were trying to force us to believe.

311k sales for MS in March is a great achievement still, but just not enough to keep up with the PS4 in relative terms.

Now, I have predicted that both console's sales will languish during the spring/summer months due to slow down from early adopters buying in an a drought of new software until blockbuster season. I'm not so sure now though. Sales would have to suddenly drop off a cliff for both consoles and they have remained pretty steady.

Azelover

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
The most powerful console has always been the most expensive, it's not like the mass market hates better technology.

I's just like when it was said the number one console was going to be the first to reach 10 million sold. It's stupid I admit, but these things have yet to be proven wrong. There's a lot that can still happen as far as the current console race.

I'm not ready to crown the PS4 just yet.

Resogun is amazing and very hard.

So far I have enjoyed infamous SS and Resogun the most

then MGS GZ main mission and KZ Shadow Fall. Shadow Fall is ok, BF4 rocks on PS4.

That was just Mattrick's spin when the 360 was ahead, now we have Major Nelson saying that "It's a marathon, not a sprint". Don't take bullshit PR as facts.
The 360 ended up last, anyway.

Call me crazy, but I think things can still change greatly.

Is the PS4 not the most powerful console in the run? The most powerful console doesn't win, and I'm sticking to that. If the opposite happens, it will be highly unusual. Right now, the PS4 is selling to those early adopters, based mostly on specifications and promise, that will pass like gas. Even the PS2 had DVD as a killer application, before the real software kicked in. So we'll see what happens in the long run. I think the picture can change dramatically very quickly.

So what, you're predicting that the Wii U is going to win this gen? Because if you're going to put that much weight in ridiculous superstition/coincidence then the Xbone isn't winning anything either, as it's Microsoft's third console.

It's early and plenty of time for Microsoft to get some momentum their way. Either way both systems seem to be doing great.

To all those who believe that TLOU:R is a major killer- you seemed to forget that although TLOU sold like cakes, it didn't expand the userbase at all, it won June NPD at the time but XBOX beat PS3 again in NA.
Ps3 sales only increased by something like 10,000 units compared to may, TLOU didn't move units, only sold to the same user base.
Tlou:R won't change that all of a sudden, it's not a system seller.

Its a new generation.

We have no idea what kinda affect it will have on the PS4.

That's just NPD. It helped ps3 outsell 360 in the UK launch month if I'm not mistaken.

The one thing that seems to fly over a few people's head on the fact that Poland has no stock issues is the fact that Poland is one of two dozen or so countries that got f**ked over in terms of PS4 pricing.

That inFamous bundle? It's 660USD.

I've got no real issues finding PS4s in Malaysia either, though there is definitely stock constraint. Our standard SKU is 560USD over here.

And statham, that . of yours? Sorry if it offends you, but it's lame. Just about as lame as your post in the NPD thread. If you bothered to check the NPD predictions league, you could see very well that many predicted XB1 outselling PS4, but instead you took one referral point to point fingers at Wynnebeck, and characterize him as the kind of poster whom you'd expect to be biased.

Around the Philadelphia area it's pretty easy to find.

---

I'll be curious to see the split on destiny. I feel like that's going to be heavily marketed for the ps4 and has a legit shot at being a huge new franchise.

Saw some pallets of PS4's at my Costco yesterday, bundles (console, 1 year of PS+, extra controller) for $489.

They're definitely showing up in the wild now, even my rinky dink Gamestop has some. I'm in the Western Philly suburbs

About time too, want to pick one up in a couple of weeks.
