Demon Gaze |OT| Even heroes have to pay rent

Played through a little of the intro last night, right up until the first time you can save your game in the inn.

Yeah, I can tell that I'm really going to enjoy this game. But first I need to finish my currebt in-progress vita games: Danganronpa, LEGO Hobbit and The Walking Dead Season 1.

Side note, the Demon GazeLE is considerably better packaged than the Danganronpa LE. Not mention that it's constructed much better than my Danganronpa LE that has a terrible glue job and looks like it's falling apart. I was worries when I order this LE, but now my faith in NISA is restored. Bring on the Neptunia PP and Danganronpa 2 LEs!

Wow, i'm surprised at the general positive reception it has gotten from mainstream press.

Didn't expect this at all. Hope it encourages Experience/NISA to bring over Stranger of Sword City over. Of course actual sales have more influence, i'll be buying this game once i get some extra cash.

Yeah in general the writeups seem to be fairly balanced, with expected points of concern brought up. Nice to see for the most part though.

But you're one of the only people who actually played the game already. I'm about as clueless as everyone else here. D:

Its awesome that someone did the OT though, since with how little talk the game got here on GAF outside of the hardliners was wondering if it was going to happen at all. Thanks again for that. Since really do want Exp. Inc. to do well in the West.

If they have a LE for Neptunia RE:Birth in the future thats a MUST GET title for the Vita if one is a fan of the series or does not mind "character games" like that, since its really well made software wise. You wouldnt believe how fast the loading times are for example.

Ok so it was that event which I had written out for you then. Glad to hear that you found what the issue is and are progressing again!

From all the time spent with the JP version I dont recall anything being actually game breaking. There has been some odd / but hard to reproduce reports by JP players, but its not something that is a common occurrence so dont think for the most part you would have anything to worry about.

I just looked up some JP data from a wiki in regards to bugs and seems like there was a new serious bug created in the 1.03 JP patch. But seems to be pretty rare, if it does happen it messes up your data though apparently. There are ways to get around it, it seems but its not exactly a perfect solution. Though better than having messed up data. With that being said multiple saves are a good thing lol. Surprisingly though for the most part the game is fairly bug free. EXPs. PC stuff on the other hand... I still have a copy of one of their games that wont even install correctly...

Never seen a Vita game crash before.

Trust me they can crash...ooooh boy yeah they can crash... Not fun having to hard reset ones vita as its not like we can actually remove the battery like the PSP. Its more like hold the power button, hope it turns off, then leave it alone and hope it recovers itself next time you try turning it on. Thankfully not with this game though.

I've never had one out of the 6-7 games I have (some I've platinum'ed).

What I can remember though I know there are other titles, Ive managed to crash Soul Sacrifice by getting stuck in a wall and the game didnt know what to do.

In Japan Zero no Kiseki Evolution used to crash PSVs before the patch.

Sen no Kiseki also had a rare crash in it pre-patch.

There is other stuff too but Id have to look it up.

All I remember is that the other ones were most def in an RPG. Which are the worst kind of game to have crashes in... After the crash too all my icons / bubble folders were screwed up. That wasnt cool having to rearrange all that again... Though for whatever reason it seems that my 2000s is more "unstable" than the OG Vita. Though have had a crash on the OG before too.

Natural doctrine had freezes in it among save data destruction lol. But those "should" be patched now. Even though Im still seeing some reports of save data related things. But am not sure if those folks are updated with the latest patch or not. Since know a lot who managed to stop themselves from getting the 1.01 might not know the 1.02 is out.

I just pulled the trigger on a 2K model today. I'll be throwing my white 1k model up for sale next week. Can't wait!

The 2K is a great addition though am quite happy with mine. Which was the LE version bundled with the GE2 package. The front looked the same with the whole black shell, it was the back thats different.

Was a little let down with how the front shell wasnt the tan / olive drab color too.

Is the front of yours black? Would you mind uploading some first hand photos of it?

Heres the flip side to that picture I posted.

One thing about the Vita and games is really wish that they would have a button showing the game details in terms of how much space it takes up. Know there is a way to see that from some system setting, but like an actual icon on the page before initiating said game. Similar to the other buttons. Was going to check the file size of how big this is installed. Not too bad considering the DL is like 460MB or something.

I'm not sure I got this right but what's wrong with the "Information" menu after you long press a bubble? It shows the size of the game.

Ah there we go, yeah sorry bout that forgot you press the "..." button to view information also. Since Ive always just associated the long press with being able to move the icons around. Personally though its still stupid that its done that way, vs just being on the actual app menu page. Its been a while since I needed to check the file size of something.

738 MB installed seems to be the size.

Oh my god, I can't believe I skipped over the sign telling me to kick here.
Thanks for the help.

lol no problem and good luck!

If you dont understand now, you will...

Just added my 3rd party member.
Right now my group is:

Front row-
Demon Geezer, Paladin- Human

Back row
Wizard-Elf

I was surprised it costs $500 to register a party member and $1000 to get them a room.

Dat hidden cost...Fran runs a tight ship...

Can anyone tell me what stats are best to add for what class?

Maybe spoiler it if other people don't want to know. I'd like to have the best team I can.

DemonGAF, sell me on this game. I normally am not a fan of dungeon crawlers, but I loved SMT IV and apparently that's a dungeon crawler, so. I'm torn. It looks super pretty; I've been staying away from gameplay videos out of sheer fear of being spoiled. (Blame Danganronpa).

If you like SMT4, then this is a good game since it is an actual better dungeon crawler imo.
The story is very light hearted with a bit of the drama like Persona 4, so no grim/dark stuff like SMT.

Anyway, the game gets better.
It has a unique level up system. It is based on your equipments+room items for stats.
One level up can mean +10 stats, or +1 if you are not wearing any +stats stuff.
Usually, your 4th/5th character will be so OP since all your shiny equipments will usually have +stats on them.
And there are also skill slots to assign passive +stats on leveling up as well.
A lot of micromanage since you have to watch the EXP bar to switch stuff/skill in and out.
But hey, creating an OP character should be like that.
A lot of min/max...no point in doing it, but it is just nice to know you can do it though.

Damn it, Hermes is so tough...

If you want to steamroll this game, get a Paladin. When you get the Devotion skill...well, game becomes too easy.
And if you add in a healer with AVD buff+Holy Shield, welp, time to go back to the inn to increase the difficulty level.

Just ordered my copy today and it'll arrived tomorrow. I guess I'm doing the favor by buying this only and holding out Conception II?

The obvious choices is what the class excels at / what you want it to do. Then compounded by what race you pick for it.

As long as you dont go doing something stupid like putting int / mys on a fighter all the time you should be fine with the obvious choices.

There is no real best stats as it depends on your playstyle / what you are aiming for. There are skill based builds, but that too goes into how you play the game. Since if you would be unable to use a particular build it doesnt really mean much trying to make a character based off of that.

Not sure how relevant this is in here but a global edition of the Japanese version was just announced. http://www.gamer.ne.jp/news/201404230049/

Has dual audio/subtitles, and first print includes Disgaea D2 DLC. It's fairly cheap at about $43 retail and $37 psn.

Edit- looks like the western version already has dual audio so I guess this is pretty much the same release lol

In fact, the US version is literally called "Demon Gaze Global Edition" on the trophy list, lol

For Japan thats 3 versions then. Original, The Best and now this Global Edition. Interesting. Though at the same time really hope they dont go killing themselves by releasing stuff a bit too much.

At the same time guess they didnt have a choice since its not like they could have released a content update patch anyways.

Is there a way to respec stat points later on in the game? And what gets carried on to NG+?

Dont think you can actually respec points, which is why folks need to be careful not to do something stupid. But since its pretty obvious what "stupid" is that should not be an issue.

At least I fucking hope not... lol

Hang on doing the list of what is / isnt carried over.

Is carried over
*Battle records
*Main character + Party Lv
*Equipped items + Held + Stored items
*Money
*Ether amount for the various categories
*Demon Rank
*The data in the book found in the main characters room

Not Carried Over
*Story progress
*Some items
-Key Items
-The 3 treasure
-Keys of Tera
*The demons you will have to defeat them again, but when you do get them as an ally all their stats are the same as your previous data.
*Skull and Black Mushrooms found will be reset.
*Store stock? Think its talking about the amount of items in stock as all of that will be reset. So any items that appeared from progressing further in the game will be rest back to the original status when starting over. So buy what you need before starting the new game+
*The amount of times rent has been paid.
*Unique item flag (what this means is you can get the same unique item again)

Thats about it anyways.

You are meant to use one gem at that part. The more gems the higher the difficulty also just run if the enemy is clearly outclassing you. The demon you have equipped has an ability that greatly increases your escape chances. I rolled with a healer instead of Pally myself just because that what I am used to in these games I figure the next class I get will be a Pally or Samurai. Also as far as respec goes for recruits you can probably just let them go and reroll another if you really want to. Your main you just need to pump Vit and then whatever else you want to focus on.

y helo thar~ welcome to demon gaze

I almost had that bastard but Oz couldn't output enough damage before he would slip to the back row and summon some little bastards and heal. My healer ran out of mp before he did and my demon about went berserk. Still had enough to flash out but annoying to waste the stones. I do like how they don't warn you to only put one stone in.

Also why are there sex notes all over the place, NISA gamers I guess
From my experience with Demon's Souls and sticky white stuff being labeled everywhere I think it may just be an every gamer thing.

Goblin King is a boss? Didn't have much trouble with him and I use 3 stones per portal.

No hes not a boss. Just "can" be a pain in the ass for new players who would only have 2 characters, if he shows up with escorts. Its all really luck based for the most part.

So in terms of party balance, are any party member types really critical? I just mean that not having something will make the game much harder/more of a grind than necessary?

Particularly I'm wondering if its almost necessary to have a Healer or a Wizard?

The classes I'm interested in are Paladin, Samurai, Assassin, and I guess Warrior. Doesn't leave much room along with the main Character. Are a Healer/Wizard back row pretty critical?

I would say in any game Healers are pretty critical. I would say if you have a Paladin and Samurai you don't really need a warrior but I don't know all of the skill intricacies of the different classes but remember in this game you can slot skills from different classes and make pseudo hybrid classes.

Yes a healer is pretty crucial personally. Mage not as much. As you can deal with ranged damage using an assassin or ranger. The warrior is more made for easier to understand single target damage output along with being able to take more damage than the samurai can. The samurai is a bit of a glass cannon for the most part and the easier use for it is constant all front row attacks on the enemy. Also being able to dual wield.

Without a healer you would have to rely too much on "attempting" to heal using the main character, which isnt recommended and wasting a lot of healing items, which isnt also recommended. Wont say why, but trust me hoard as much of the healing items as possible.

Still getting my ass handed to me in the water area at times. Lol. Sometimes Im doing just fine and then bam! Dead. Lol. I don't think I really have any other area to go at this point so. Away I grind.

Yeah if the guys underwater are giving you trouble still, the next area will put up even more resistance so leveling is good.

Thanks, yeah I figured a healer would be necessary, but I'd rather not have to use a Wizard. Sometimes games like this make a big deal of elemental damage and then make wizard type classes the only way to deal with elements.

So I'm thinking Main character, Samurai, (paladin?), (assassin?), and Healer
