New Destiny Gameplay

ok. i am the only one in this and i am sure many people will hate me for saying this.

but i honestly do not find the game play from the video a very fun. its not bad by all means. but i will just say i am not impressed.

will i buy it ? maybe. i need to see the reviews and more game play videos. but this one for example didn't sell me on the game.

on the other hand..

i love the music tho. its superp. but game play / graphics and animation ? yeah i don't think so to me.
so brave

He only gets a pass because he thinks the music is superp. As do I, I think it's brilliamp.

The negative responses here and in every gaf and gaming thread are ridiculous. Show 1 strike mission and people make sweeping assumptions the entire game is boring, no explorations........It's just a snippet of a strike mission. It's like this with every game, Watch dogs, Infamous, and on and on, takes 1 minute before someone is spewing "
Looks boring"................... Every few minute video I have seen looks boring in a bubble.

I'm sorry, Dave ................................... I'm afraid I can't do that .............................

The complaining is hilarious.

What do you want them to show you in a 7min gameplay video that just shows some minor stuff about the game?

You know there will be more stuff that you can do and places to explore. Its just one trailer that focuses on a tiny part of the game, which was pretty much shooting to show you a taste of the action.
I guess everyone expected a PlayStation style E3 montage of randomness.

What are you talking about? I, and many here, didn't like what we see. It's not like if there are other parts of the game that is better, what we saw in this video will suddenly become way better in our opinion.
If you show me a racing game that shows off unrealistic drifting with arcade-like score popups, and when I disapprove because I expected something different (like GT maybe), that criticism isn't valid because there are other game modes?

So the area showcased in the strike mission here - we should expect to come back to this very same location for other objectives? Or has this particular area (the non-public space) been crafted particularly for this mission?

I guess I'm asking whether these environments are built mission specific but expansive (like Borderlands), or whether they're expansive from the get-go and built to serve the purpose of many different objectives in the same basic spaces (like Warframe).

I have high hopes for this game, but this footage looks pretty clunky.

This footage makes it look very MMO like, with the inherent lag and lack of crispness in actions (both yours and NPCs). Of course the social aspect in MMOs is why people play. Class interplay as opposed to refined shooter mechanics is super fun if pulled off well.

That said, playing Titanfall for so long now its very hard for me look at this footage and not feel as if it lacks a sense of urgency and fluidity of movement given its first person perspective.

That Q&A sounded decent, It certainly will have scope, Love the ability to just spawn a vehicle and do what i want if not interested in the public event. Summer beta cant come soon enough......although im usually out alot in the summer!

Have we all watched today's Playstation Access video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXCst6jEVHM&index=2&list=UU6yzV_xgKn8r77FkcmZyMSg

I didn't see it on the past few pages. There's some cool stuff there - weapon info screens - clan information - vague info about the mobile companion app - lots of gameplay - etc. Seems pretty informative.

A developer should only agree to interviews when they're ready to answer NEW questions. I mean who doesn't know that leveling up our characters is one of Destiny's big selling points? Or that we'll need to be connected to the internet to play online with other people? Or that we're not going to be able to see thousands of other players occupy the same area? Urgh, so much wasted potential.

As for the positive, the info about loot rewards and class specific weapons was good.

That's the problem I'm having now, I'm comparing it and other games to Titanfall when I REALLY shouldn't be, they just look so slow and lethargic in comparison. I had this problem when I tried playing ME2 last night, it felt as if Shepard's movement was very slow and limited, I had to drop the game after the prologue because I was struggling.

I hope Destiny lives up to the hype and that it succeeds so that Bungie make money but I'm not sure whether I'll be able to contribute to their revenue, Titanfall has ruined me.

Wow. Full on hype train between the gameplay vid and playstation videos. This will be amazing. I wonder if the beta will be the same basic thing as the E3 demo, or if it will be more broad,

This is happening to me as well and I'm beginning to wonder if Titanfall's fluid mobility has ruined other FPS games for me. The other night I was playing Capture The Flag in Halo 4 and I tried double-jumping to scale along a rock face and over a barrier. Needless to say it didn't work.

Haha. This is how I felt with every shooter for a while after Bulletstorm.

Why can't I slide? ...oh

So you just want me to shoot em in the face and... that's it? ...ok

The way I'm reading it is strikes are like the vaults / missions in fallout / borderlands, but are to be completed with your wolfpack. Not sure if you can solo them, but sounds like you might.

There's PVP and PVE areas in the general world outside these "vaults". The story is also separate. Strikes are just for leveling, loot, and boss takedowns.

I'm probably hella late but I just heard Tyrion Lannister voices the ghost. Time to preorder!

Game looks incredible to me. (only played Halo 1)

Looks quite impressive - still waiting for some competitive multiplayer footage though. I want Bungie to bring competitive sci-fi shooters back into relevance. Give me everything Halo 4 should have been but without the title.

I was really excited for this one, loved Halo Reach especially.

Video and Kotaku impressions has me wondering if this game is a tad soulless. The talk about identify and the games catch is real for me. Hope the loot is glorious, but it reminds me of Guild Wars 2? Beautiful world art, with slightly institutionalised interaction with the game world.

Can see this bombing, hope to be wrong.

Love the look of the game but the UI strikes me as so wasteful and ugly. All that shaded space and the numbers aren't using the extremes. Only negative for me.

Wasteful in what way? It condenses HUD elements that used to take the the full width of the screen in Halo, into a single corner. The shaded icons act as cooldown meters, so it's not like they're just for show. It's quite large, but it looks really efficient to me.
It's weird that you didn't mention the one truly bad thing about the HUD - that insanely distracting super meter.

I like the look of the UI, but I can see what you are saying.

Really liking the look of this game, by far my most hyped game this year besides dragon age.....its going to be a REALLY busy fall this year compared to last year.

Have bungie stated how much of the world will be explained by playing the game? Will we known what it was that "struck" humanity down? Will we know why there are so many different alien species hanging out in our little solar system? Will we know why the traveler came and saved humanity?

The animations remind me so much of Halo, the enemy encounters, even the whole 'defend the objective from enemy reinforcements' scenario.

The sprinting and running animations look like they're straight out of Halo Reach. Why does it go to 3rd person when they use a special ability? That is EXACTLY how it looked in Halo Reach single/multi-player when you used armor abilities/special assassinations.Tthey should completely switch to 3rd person so it won't resemble Halo.

Bungie never fails to disappoint me when it comes to visuals and their promise of epic battles/campaigns (trailers). I've bought every Bungie release, day 1, for the last 10 years and it never lives up to expectations haha...i think I'm just addicted to the Halo formula. Either way, Destiny has me unconvinced atm

My guess would be 85 percent. Or... why would they even quantify something like that? I'm sure your answer lies in playing the game.

Does destiny have a single player campaign? or is it like titanfall?

Watch the videos in the thread.

It has a campaign and a storyline that you can finish. Complete with cutscenes and such, just like any halo game. Just more coop focused.

It has a real story and campaign missions, but the whole game takes places in an mmo like world, so you have to be always online. so its not like titanfall where they just act like they have a campaign

Why? They fit the gameplay perfectly. They are a necessity.
They fit huge bullet sponges, but displaying health bars on enemies that die in one hit makes very little sense.
I don't even want to imagine how spongy these basic enemies would have to get for health bars to be necessary, if Gears of War never needed to show them.

havn't they said the footage shown was taken from a point where the player would be approaching "end game"? in which case, those enemies that are dying quickly probably wernt always dying quickly.

I don't know if they said it was endgame but certainly that the were higher level guardians, I think they said level 8 or so, with 20 being the max.

They set it up so the press wouldn't die too much in that build basically. Would like to see how it changes when tackled with low level characters.
