We just come from different mindsets. This actually reminds me of when Sega released that ad with the kid sticking his tongue out and making fun of Sony for having shortages, which I didn't appreciate either. And I friggin' loved Sega back in it's hey day, but that was just signs of disrespect, which I don't condone for and I lost a little respect for them to release that ad to the world. It's schoolyard antics. Let the talking happen with the consumer purchases and be recognized by what you do and not what you say.
No you misunderstand me, I'm not saying the tone of the video is perfect or anything.
I'm saying that they needed to make it absolutely clear how it worked because
- it was vital in how it placed them in their relationship with their customers
- that was an advantage they had
If the gaming media hadn't spent months prior to last e3 explaining to everyone how MSFT's shitty system was going to be on PS4 too because parity or some BS like that I would have been harsher with Sony's video.
As it is, it was needed.
Sega's ad in your example is childish and on top of that stupid.
It's pretty much like if Sony was going with ads in the west going "Well we don't have pkmn on vita and that's why we have the heart of gamers!".
Not having pkmn is not a good thing and it remind people of your more successful competition, it's bad.
This tweet, I have nothing good or bad to say about it, it's vanilla.
