I hope the game is good. I have fond memories of the game on the first xbox and really enjoyed it. I'm not expecting a AAA game here but hope its a solid entry in the series.

Is the Day One patch for The Bone version live? I'm hoping shopto ship mine is tomorrow with it being a Tuesday release. If so I'll get it on Sat.

I've been playing it just fine. Not sure I downloaded the patch when it installed. Didn't get a notice that it needed it. Maybe it will download it closer to release.

Did you like the last Wolfenstein game?

I didn't finish the last Wolfenstein game, but it wasn't because I didn't like it. It just got bogged down with stuff and never went back to it. I'm only on the first mission. Really taking my time and looking at everything I can to find secrets. I like what I see so far. I'm playing on "Bring 'em on" difficulty and it seems a little easy. But again, I'm only on the first mission. One complaint I have is there isn't many audio options. Just master volume. Not sure if it's my receiver or the games mix, but some speech is too quiet to hear. Especially when BJ is talking to himself. This is a small gripe, I'm having too much fun to dwell on it.

I loved this section of the Polygon article

"Just a couple years ago, for the first time, I was on vacation," Matthies says. "They had these Jet Ski rentals. ... ‘I thought, 'I want to try a Jet Ski, let's do that.' So we did it. And we had this amazing experience where we're on this thing and it's accelerating in a way that — I don't have a driver's license, so I don't have any experience driving things. But it just goes so fucking fast. And then this school of dolphins showed up!

"It was just this mind-bogglingly cool experience. I thought, 'Hmm, maybe I should get a Jet Ski?'"

There was only one problem with the Jet Ski scheme: Jet Skis come on trailers, which attach to cars. Matthies didn't own a car. He also doesn't have a garage, so he'd have nowhere to store the car and the trailer if he had them. But then he also would have nowhere to store the Jet Ski. Matthies did some research. He could take a bus to the Ekoln Gulf, which is a part of Lake Mälaren, which reaches all the way south to Stockholm. From there he could buy a Jet Ski and then ride it home to Uppsala and store it at the local harbor.

"So if I buy a Jet Ski at a store in Stockholm (because they don't have any in Uppsala) that's very close to the water, perhaps I can convince them to put it in the water for me. And then I can ride it on the water up to Uppsala. I can get a spot in the harbor here and I can keep it there in the summer, and when winter comes I ride it back down, they pull it up, and they put it in winter storage. That way I can do it without a car.

"So then I did that. Now that's just been awesome. And then I thought, but it kind of sucks giving people a ride all the time. So maybe I have to get another one. So now I have two."

And that, in a nutshell, is Jens Matthies.

Oh, and this part!

Gustafsson is a self-taught level designer. He's also a bricklayer. Actually, he's primarily a bricklayer and the level-design thing just sort of happened.

Gustafsson, unlike practically every other game designer in the world, never owned a computer or a game console as a kid. He played a few games here and there, but was mainly into sports and shooting guns. After the 9th grade, he stopped going to school entirely and struck it modestly rich betting on a local hockey game.

His first idea for the money: buying a parrot.

"I wanted to see if I could get it to talk," Gustafsson says. "If you could teach it something. I'd only seen that on TV."

His friends convinced him to get a computer instead, a 90MHz Pentium-based PC, then helped him turn it on. But he couldn't figure out how to turn it off. He had to ask a neighbor, a bodybuilder, for help.

"I remember this well, because he was covered in oil, in this underwear," Gustafsson says. "He was really big. He had to teach me how to turn off the computer, because I really didn't understand. You had to press on a button that said 'Start' to turn it off? That was very strange to me."

With the workings of the Start button sorted, Gustafsson turned his attention to playing games. He bought Quake, fell in love, then discovered he could make his own levels with an easy-to-find program. Within months Gustafsson was a level designer, the parrot long forgotten.

Obviously the article is painting these guys in the best light possible but I really want this to do well for them!

Unfortunately why I won't pre order it. Still, I'm excited to see how it turns out, and will get it post reviews.

Doom 4 is going to be a joke so no loss there.

Don't worry about the preorder Doom 4 key. It's a code in the box. I'd imagine everyone gets it. Maybe it's just the first run of the game that has the code, not sure. But I didn't preorder it and I got the code in the box.

Launch trailer is confusing... I thought
Caroline died
in the last game. There must be something I'm forgetting if they'd spoil
her presence in TNO
like that. :p

I'm getting super excited about this. I might have to run through RTCW and Wolf09 again in the next few days to keep me occupied...

if it isn't good, the last one by Raven was. Too bad they're stuffed in a closet working on CoD now.

I don't think it is. It's pretty confusing given BJ's appearance, but look at Deathshead's bio:
During the war, Deathshead almost perished in a zeppelin crash. This near death experience gave him a fresh outlook on life and he loves every minute of it.
The crash is referring to the end of Wolf 09. Then there's the namedropping of the OSA and now Caroline shows up. It's pretty clear it's connected.

On wiki i found this

Three years after the events of Wolfenstein, famed OSA agent Blazkowicz has suffered from trauma he received at the height of the war due to a secret mission gone awry. For the last 14 years he laid catatonic in an asylum. After escaping, he finds a harsh new world controlled by a more advanced "old" enemy.

Sounds like The new order is the sequel to Wolfenstein 2009.

Already have to laugh at the wrong German plural in this. Panzerhunde would have been correct.

Wolfenstein: The New Order is a single player first-person shooter developed by MachineGames based in Uppsala, Sweden

Wow, I live in Uppsala and honestly had no clue this studio even existed. Every freaking game is Swedish these days. Looks like a great game anyhow; will be mine after a drop in price.

I hope they will allow preload on PS4. I seriously don't wanna start the download on Tuesday. It would take at least 11 hours on my 12 Mbps connection (for 50+5 GB game).

I'm so hyped for this
The choice of music for the trailers was superb by the way.

I just hope AMD doesn't have problems this time around with the ID Tech 5
